WEB Notes: Take a look at the photo and realize this is Damascus, then watch the video below. Perform a search on our site for “Damascus” and look at all of the articles relating to its destruction. Our Father’s Word always comes to pass. Over two years ago it was reported that 7 million people had been displaced in Syria. The destruction taking place in Syria is absolutly astounding and now we see Damascus crumbling just as our Father said would happen in Isaiah 17:1. Let us turn there for newer students of God’s Word.

Isaiah 17:1
1 “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.”

This prophecy has been unfolding for several years and it is now reaching its fulfillment. Please turn with me to,

Jeremiah 49:23
23 “Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.”

On another level we know the sea are the people from Revelation 17:15 and there is most definitely sorrow among the people. Luke 21:25 also describes the sea roaring and the distress of nations during the final events of this earth age (Additional Reading: As in the Days of Noah and the End Times Flood of Lies).

Jeremiah 49:24
24 “Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.”

Look at the photo again and ensure you watch the video below. Damascus is indeed feeble and her inhabitants have fled. 300,000 people use to live in this suburb of Damascus alone. MercyCorps reports,

“Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. Half the country’s pre-war population — more than 11 million people — have been killed or forced to flee their homes.”

Keep in mind Syria’s pre-war population was only 23 million.

With respect to verse 23 we know the final events of this earth age are referred to as birth pains and as we get closer to the end of this age those pains will increase. This prophecy is for us in these end times.

Jeremiah 49:25-26
25 “How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!”

26 “Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.”

It is estimated that 320,000 Syrians have been killed while 1.5 million Syrians have been wounded or permanently disabled during this war.

Jeremiah 49:27
27 “And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.”

I cannot help but think of Luke 12:49, please turn there.

Luke 12:49
49 “I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?”

This earth age will be destroyed by fire as 2 Peter 3:10 documents. As children of light we should ensure we are doing our job to kindle that fire before the Lord returns (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

Most of the world cannot see what hour we are approaching.

Luke 12:56
56 “Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

They can tell you what the weather will be like (sometimes), yet they cannot tell you what hour we are in Biblically. There is no doubt about it, we live in the end times and our Father’s Word is coming to pass daily. Do not set dates, instead, ensure you stay awake, stay on watch and continue to kindle the flame of Truth.

The Jobar neighborhood of Damascus is the epicenter of some of the fiercest fighting in Syria with Islamist rebels refusing to give up their only stronghold. Once densely populated, the area has now been completely obliterated, RT’s Murad Gazdiev reports.

Most of the pre-conflict population has fled the rebel-held neighborhood of Jobar in the eastern suburb of Ghouta in Damascus, while fighting between the Syrian army and rebel groups…
