WEB Notes: This is turning into a flashback Friday at this point. In times not long ago, our young used to help the elderly across the street, now they drug and steal from them. How things have changed. Does it make it right? Not a chance, so what does the Bible have to say?…

1 Timothy 5:1
1 “Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;”

Rebuke, simply meaning to “chastise”. The younger should not chastise the elder. They should have respect for them. Now think of this teen who drugged the 89 year old and how far have we come?

Two more verses.

1 Peter 5:5
5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”

God is not asking for anyone to be a stepping stone. But He does expect you to respect your elders. He expects you to understand His Word, to have a working knowledge of it and be an example for others.

He even gives rewards my friends, rewards that never “fadeth not away,” (1 Peter 5:4).

Authorities say a West Ashley teenager gave his 89-year-old neighbor a brownie laced with a tranquilizer so he could steal from her.

Investigators arrested 19-year-old Christian Jellico on Tuesday. He was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult and petty larceny, and given a $102,125 bond.

Jellico’s charges stem from an incident on April 7 at a home on Norview Drive.
