Apostasy: Pope Francis Claims Atheists Who Do "Good" Are Redeemed. What Does God Say? - Christian Fish Symbol in StoneBy: Brandon T. Ward

The time of darkness is nigh at hand. It would seem as though everything around us is changing for the worse. Right is wrong and wrong is right. Mainstream Christianity is no exception. Pope Francis stated, ‘you do not need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, but rather Christ dying on the cross was all that was required for everyone to be saved.’ This is an absolute contradiction of God’s Word! The Pope stated this with reference to Mark 9:38-40.

“They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.” The disciples, Pope Francis explains, “were a little intolerant,” closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that “those who do not have the truth, cannot do good.” “This was wrong . . . Jesus broadens the horizon.” Pope Francis said, “The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation”

Let us look at the scriptures to see what was spoken of in this account.

Mark 9:38
38 “And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.”

39 “But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.”

40 “For he that is not against us is on our part.”

We are talking about casting out evil spirits in Jesus Christ’s name, not merely being “good” as the Pope would like to imply. In order to cast out an evil spirit you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and have a strong faith which is something an atheist would not possess.

The Pope would continue in his statement,

“The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can… “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!”.. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.

It would seem many cling to the words of man, instead of listening to the Word of God. How can we all be so quick to forget the most recited verse of all?

John 3:16
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

There is a qualification, a requirement on your part. You have to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order to have everlasting life. Let us look at a second witness to this fact.

Romans 10:9
9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Again, action is required on your part in order to receive salvation. You must believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was raised from the dead.

Those who would twist and manipulate God’s Word to suit their own agenda should be very weary and think twice. It would be wise for the Pope to carefully consider the following verses from God’s Word.

Isaiah 5:20
20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

21 “Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”

23 “Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!”

The aforementioned was a warning to those who would try to lead the flock astray. The following contains advice and a warning for all of us.

2 Timothy 3:13
13 “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

14 “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;”

15 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

The Corruption of the Church

The church of today has become absolutely corrupted by the traditions of men. We were told this would happen in,

2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”

4 “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Throughout history the church has become polluted by man who instead of listening to God’s Word replaces it with their own doctrines. For this reason God has cleansed the church many times throughout history by kicking out the false teachers along with their doctrines and bringing the church back to order.

At the time of Moses, the Israelites beheld the Ten Plagues of Egypt which were absolute miracles. Those plagues harmed only the Land of Egypt having no effect on the Land of Goshen where the Israelities dwelt. The final plague was so damning it led to the Exodus of Egypt and marked the Passover. During the Exodus the Israelities witnessed the miracles in the wilderness including the Red Sea Crossing. Yet, days later they constructed a golden calf and began to worship it. Quickly forgetting about God who had delivered them from 400 years of bondage in Egypt.

In King Josiah’s time the church had completely left God and resorted to idol worship. King Josiah at the young age of 26 years went and destroyed all of the idols in the land, restored the temple and turned his people back to God. Even making a covenant with the Lord “to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul. (2 Chronicles 34)”

When Christ walked the earth a mere 600 years later the church had become so corrupt they could not recognize He was the Messiah and killed Him! Our Lord and Savior proclaimed the traditions of men would trump His Word in Matthew 15:9 stating, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

It has now been 2000 years since Christ, how much truth has the church lost in that time? How much corruption has crept in? How much of God’s Word are you taught by your house of worship?

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – Jesus Christ, (John 14:6)

That is God’s Word which is uncorrupted Truth! Who shall you believe, God or man?
