WEB Notes: We are all well aware of the prophecy concerning the destruction of Damascus in Isaiah 17:1. Now let us read Jeremiah 49:23-27,
23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
On another level we know the sea are the people (Revelation 17:15) and there is most definitely sorrow among them .
24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
The article you are about to read documents over a 1/3 of the population is now displaced. We also know the end is refered to as birth pains of a woman in travail. This prophecy is for us now in these end times.
25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.
Estimates range from 100,000 to 110,000 now dead due to the raging war in Syria.
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
