Bible Question and Answer
Welcome to our bi-weekly post where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.

Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.

Question 1:

Name: Chris
Question: Brandon,

Thanks for Q&A. It is great to read all the questions and answers.

My question is,
When you give money to your church isn’t it wrong to turn around and take it as write off on your tax return? It doesn’t really seem like your giving if your just getting it back every year. I personally don’t claim that money it seems I’m not really giving. What’s your advice—thanks in advance.

Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Chris thank you for the question and you are very welcome. As always we thank our readers for submitting questions so we can provide this section of our site!

If a church decides to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit (which I do not agree with) then you are entitled to deduct your donation from your taxes. If you donate $20 and you deduct that from your taxes your are not really getting back the $20 you donated. You do get back a portion of it though. In either case, do what you wish, but I do not think it is wrong for you to take the tax deduction.

Question 2:

Name: Patty
Question: I have recently been approached by a neighbor/friend questioning me on my recent declaration of faith in our Father and Jesus Christ. I am not yelling on any street corners or anything like that but have posted to Face Book our fathers word a few times. As you may remember I am new to our Father’s word as I answered a penetrating call a few months ago. I am not sure how to handle this as listening to Pastor Murray he always states to plant a seed but gently. (something like that) This child of God is very lost and does not believe and I know that I need to lend a hand to her but she is challenging me and I am not sure how to point her in the right direction. She claims the Bible is the most violent and sexual book of fiction ever written. She remembers when I was not a believer but believed in a supreme being and studied Buddhism. I have made our Father a huge part of my life and constantly pray to him for guidance on every part of my life.
Do you have any suggestions?

Also I would like to tithe to your ministry, I do not see anywhere on this website or the older Shepherd’s Chapel website information as to how this is done. I live remotely and do not have a church that teaches the bible chapter by chapter verse by verse so you are my church. I listen to Shepherd’s Chapel every morning and I cannot tell you how much your teachings have helped me learn to walk in the light of love of our Father and abide by his laws.

Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Patty thank you for the question. Let me open stating we are not the Shepherd’s Chapel nor are we affiliated with them.

Our site is World Events and the Bible and no we do not take donations at this time.

Now to your question. I think it is absolutely wonderful that you have now devoted your life to our Father. Further, I love that you ask for guidance in your life from Him as well.

Is your friend challenging you in a positive way or a negative way? If I were in your situation I would point them to the beginning. We have a study on this topic titled, “The World That Was, The First Earth Age“. Many atheists disregard the Bible as Christians commonly believe the world is only 6,000 years old which we know is not the case. The referenced study will document that for you and give your friend a good place to start.

If your friend wants to learn, teach them what you know. If they ask a question you do not have the answer to tell them you will find the answer for them. You can use us as a resource for that and we will document the answer in the scriptures. Then you can take that information back to your friend.

Just plant those seeds as Pastor Murray used to say. Do not force them to grow. Just plant the seeds and let them be. If it is our Father’s Will they will grow and that person will start to inquire more about God’s Word.

Keep up the good work Patty.

We would like to thank our Father for giving us this platform in order to spread His most precious Word. We would also like to thank our readers for submitting their questions and giving us the opportunity to share them with the audience.

  1. Patty, I would like to emphasize and expand on what Brandon stated. Is your friend asking in a negative way or a positive way? From what you said I am leaning on the negative side.

A negative way is when someone only wants to disprove what you say, they are not trying to learn anything, they only want to prove you wrong and all their questions are geared to that goal. They never learn or stop refuting God’s word. They do not believe and you cannot make them believe.

A positive way is when they earnestly want to know, if that is the case they will not argue every little point causing you to get nowhere with them, instead they will ask more questions that enable them to grow, their next questions will build from the previous questions in a continually learning fashion, they will believe the truth you told them and seek more knowledge. When God opens someone’s eyes they know the truth when they hear it.

If someone truly wants to learn, teach them all you know, tell them where to go to get the answers you don’t have. Teach them how to get the answers for themselves by using a Companion Bible and Strong’s Concordance, things like that. A good place to start is the beginning, Genesis, especially the first six chapters. If they do not understand the beginning they will not understand the rest. Shepherd’s Chapel can help with suggested tapes for a beginner.

In the beginning doing the research for themselves might be a bit too much for a beginner so they ask people who know, once God pulls their strings a little bit they will constantly drive you crazy with questions, they eat up everything they can get. That is when you start telling them to check it out for themselves and help them grow into a mature Christian. Maybe they ask a question you don’t have the answer to, so you tell them you are not sure, why don’t they look it up and let you know. Of course always look it up for yourself, but this way you get them to start doing the same. You teach them how to eat meat, then you get your fingers out of the way. This only works when they are truly ready to learn.

If someone does not want to learn, don’t argue with them, just stop talking and walk away. Don’t let them shake your faith because you don’t have all the answers. Everyone has to start somewhere, don’t get in over your head by trying to convert a non-believer, only God can do that and people like that can beat a person down and stop them from progressing, so don’t give them the opportunity to do that to you. As a person matures it does not matter who says or does what, there is nothing they can do that will harm you, but people do not start off that way so protect yourself. If you are learning truth you can bet Satan has you on his radar.

    • Steve thank you for chiming in on this.

As a note you can reply directly to a poster by clicking “Reply” under their post.

    • Hi Steve,
Yes, most definitely negative and argumentative. There is so much confusion and desperation in her life that I see right away with the learning I have done. But I still would like to help her as I feel a calling to do so. She says she has read the entire Bible and used to be a “Jesus Freak” her words, not mine. I actually did what you suggested above as she had such a need to challenge me she came over to my house. I told her what had happened to me and how I feel I was called and then I stopped talking. I did say to her someday maybe we would be able to talk more.
Thank you so much for all the suggestions, everyone here is so much help – I feel so Loved and secure in Jesus Christ and his followers.

      • Hi Patty!

You are such a kind, loving and caring soul! Permit me to chime in here a bit.

I suggest that you bear in mind…that we are responsible for *planting* seeds of Truth…one of our duties as Christians. However, God / Christ is the One Whom provide that Living Water to nourish it and help it grow and mature!

He may *not* be ready for some individuals just yet…and we ought to be mindful of that! Some of them…He has even blinded! You may *not* be able to discern all of those either. My point being…some souls are just plain *unteachable*…and you’ve gotten some great advice right here on this forum!

You’ve stated: ” But I still would like to help her as I feel a calling to do so.”

God may certainly be using you in reaching this individual…but what I’m trying to convey…is that…do *not* feel that you’ve failed…*if* an individual that you are sharing God’s / Christ’s Word with…is not ready to receive it!

You’ve asked for guidance…the things that are being shared with you, right here on this forum…may just be God’s Way of helping you further mature in *Seed planting*! He’s providing all the help you need on the Way forward. How selfless of you to offer such love, patience and compassion to the individual you’ve felt led to help…one of the marks of a *true* Christian! You’ve opened your heart to God to where He can use you best!

I pray that God / Christ continue to lead, guide, direct and touch you in sharing His Truth!

        God bless!

        • EyeonGod – thank you for your kind words I really appreciate you and everyone that helps me with all of my questions. Merry Christmas to everyone

          • You’re are very welcome Patty! I really enjoy being a part of this forum where we share with each other! So much important goodies on here…Brandon does an awesome job with all that he does so selflessly in the Ministry! We so appreciate him for that!

It’s great to see our brothers and sisters chime in to help each other on any given topic as well!

A very Merry Christmas to you, your loved ones, and to all my brothers and sisters in Christ Yeshua (Jesus) as well!

Remembering to keep Christ as the main focus…as we celebrate the day God joined us in the flesh! For without Him…there would be no Christ’mas!

He came and gave His Life for *our* Salvation and to defeat *death*…which is to say the *devil*!

            No Greater Love!

            God Bless!

    • Awesome contribution there *Steve*!

I am sure that others who need this precious advice, will be blessed by it as well.

May God continue to bless all those who share and contribute to leading others to God / Christ…showing them the right Way

  2. Brandon…Great job in answering Patty’s and Chris’ questions!

May God/Christ continue to lead, guide, touch and direct you in His Ministry!

May He bless, impart knowledge and mature all those who diligently seek to know* the* Way, Truth and Life!

Like *jackbolin*…I too am curious as to why you do not believe in the 501(c)(3) designation, Brandon? I’ve never heard Pastors Murray (Arnold, David or Dennis) addressed *that* either way.

I always look forward to Q & A Fridays, in addition to the Topical Studies, keep the *Watch* with World Events and the Bible and my brothers and sisters in Christ Yeshua (Jesus)! Great combination with *The Shepherd’s Chapel chapter by chapter, verse by verse, here a little, there a little teachings! Very informative…and it helps keep the sheep *well fed*!

We are certainly *blessed*…who could ask for more? God/Christ is so merciful…what an AWESOME God He is!

We thank Him for leaving us a *remnant* who could feed His sheep, as He meant it to be! We love You LORD!

May the Peace of our LORD be with you all!

  3. To Patty: I hope Brandon doesn’t mind me saying this but, I also offered to donate to this site and Brandon’s ministry. He told me the same thing about not taking donations, which I fully respect. I feel as if I get spiritually fed here more than anywhere, and feel as if our Father’s hand is upon Brandon. I prayed about the situation, and I decided that perhaps the best way I could “tithe” in this day and age would be to use what money I would tithe with to start a food reserve for the coming economic meltdown and also to purchase items (precious metals, etc) I could use to barter with when AC is here because I won’t accept his funny money. That may seem selfish to some, but if I’m not able to sustain myself, how can I make the stand against AC when that hour is upon us? And if we are to make that stand, is that not the most important witnessing that we could ever hope to do? Just food for thought.

    • Excellent strategy Jackbolin, that is exactly what you should be doing. God gave us all a warning, we would be fools not to head that warning. God will not suffer a fool so if we know it is coming then we should prepare for it. Good job Jack, and good example for others.

    • Thank you for the kind words Jack and I think you made a great decision. We should all have supplies on hand. The items needed to sustain us on a daily basis. We should have six months to a year available to us. Having a little extra is good as other people around us may not bow and knee to Satan during the Tribulation and you want to help these individuals out as well.

When Satan is here as you stated we are not going to take anything from him even though it will be the easy way out in the short term. But we are not going to do that. We are going to make a stand for our Father. That will not be easy to do, but with our Father we will accomplish that! We will Stand!

    • Permit me to chime in here a bit, jackbolin.

You’ve stated: ” I decided that perhaps the best way I could “tithe” in this day and age
would be to use what money I would tithe with to start a food reserve
for the coming economic meltdown and also to purchase items (precious
metals, etc) I could use to barter with when AC is here because I won’t
      accept his funny money.”

It is to my understanding, that there’s a difference between tithes and love offerings! Tithes* to our Heavenly Father should be to help further the spread of His Word / Ministry…reaching out to as many as God’s teachers can…worldwide.

So…you *tithe* wherever you are fed God’s Truths.

However, other donations are considered *Love Offerings*…and that is a precious thing to do also.

In other words, the *tithe* is for God, which is used to finance very exorbitant television time and pay for other ways or means of spreading and teaching His Word.

*Love Offerings* may be used to assist the Ministry in many other ways to help the Church (the many membered body of Christ) and *others* who need help and Salvation of Yeshua (Jesus) amidst the darkness of this world.

What a wonderful, loving, caring thing to do!

Compassion…is one of the marks of a *true* Christian! As per Christ! However, be careful to *not* have compassion for those who have heard God’s Word, and blatantly REJECTS It, or cares nothing about our Heavenly Father! (I state this for the sake of the young in Christ) They rather, mislead, deceive and encourage others to be far removed from our Heavenly Father! Like Satan, his Kenite spawns and their useful idiots…those with the *likes* of them! They’ve forsaken God…He did *not* forsake them! He removes His outreached *protective* arms…until they return to Him! Some of those souls prefer the ways of this world…which Satan is the ‘god’ of…and may never return! Like Satan and the 7000 fallen angels who are already sentenced to *perish*…they are so wicked and far removed from God YHVH / Christ! Don’t cast your *pearls* before *swines*…the lowest carnal flesh on earth!

*If* the others continue to be *unrepentant* habitual sinners and *not* seek Salvation in Christ Yeshua (Jesus)…they would receive the same sentence and will have no one else to blame..God exercises His *Righteous Indignation* in punishment then! They’ve brought it upon themselves!

WHO can blame Him then? All He wants from His children…all the souls that He has created…is their *Love* / *Mercy*! Hosea 6:6…is *that* too much to ask from a Heavenly Father who have provided us so great a Salvation in Christ Yeshua (Jesus)? I think NOT!

      God bless.

  4. Interesting that you don’t believe in the 501c3 designation, Brandon. Was curious as to why? Does that limit what an organization (church, group, what have you) can comment on politically?
