Welcome to our bi-weekly post Bible Question, Answer and Discussion where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.
Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.
Question: Brandon, Thanks for this great knowledge you place before us. Between you and Shepherd’s Chapel, my knowledge of the word is getting better and my faith is getting stronger. Please keep up this great work. Did all the people who had died prior to Christ death on the cross, return to paradise in their spiritual bodies before Christ’ death? Where did their souls go when their flesh bodies died? Thanks-Paul
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Paul and the note about our site. I am glad that it is helping you and we thank our Father for it.
It sounds like you are on right track so let me spell some things out here for others to benefit from as well. When Christ came to earth and died for us it opened the door for Salvation, as in Eternal life. The flesh and spirit of men has been the same since creation and nothing has or will change that. So 2 Corinthians 5:8 which states, “to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” holds true throughout this age of flesh. So yes, those who have passed on including those who have passed on before the time of Christ are in Heaven. As a matter of fact, Christ went back to the souls that passed on before His time on earth to make Salvation possible for them as well. You can document that for yourself in 1 Peter 3:18-20.
Luke 16:19-31 gives us a great example of Heaven. Abraham would say to the Rich Man in verse 26, “between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” Abraham is explaining there is a great divide in Heaven. The righteous are on one side while those who are not righteous are on the other. This does not mean they are condemned to death. Remember, we have the Millennium. It is true there are no second chances, but many people have never had a chance to begin with. Most churches of our time teach fables and lies, not the Word of our Father. God is fair and He will judge accordingly (Psalms 25:8).
In closing, 1 Corinthians 15:35-55 gives us a great description of the flesh and spiritual body. To make a note, the spiritual body has mass, it simply does not get sick, old or die unlike the flesh.
