Welcome to our bi-weekly post Bible Question, Answer and Discussion where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer some of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.
Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.
Question: The presidential race is heating up, and many political and media people are going really strong after Donald Trump. Is he good or bad for our nation? I’m somewhat confused as to what to think about our government and media.
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Anthony. Being confused is very easy in this hour, hang in there and question everything. The lies and deception will only get worse from here on out. If you are a new reader I would encourage you to read our Bible studies and the notes we make on the news articles we post. I think they will be beneficial to you.
To answer your question, I think Trump is a big show. He is saying everything “conservatives” want to hear. Typical elections see a democrat in power and then a republican and so on. Back and forth it goes with false promises with each transition and some Americans actually think “this time it will be different“. But they think it will be different in every single election. I am sure at some point we will hear, “this is the most important election in history“. The truth of the matter is there is no one running that will actually help turn this nation around. They are all people who have been chosen by our enemy and placed in front of us. It only appears that we have a “choice“.
I really hate to say this, but the entire election process is a farce. How many stories have we read over the years of “malfunctioning” voting machines? Or cheating at the polls? How many reports of illegal immigrants bused in to vote? The entire thing is an absolute joke. Our last shot at an honest man was Ron Paul and most Christians were too blind to see that. Even if he had been elected, his days would have been short as he did not go along with the status quo.
“I would certainly implement that [keeping a register of Muslims]…absolutely.”
This is a horrible idea and just more proof Trump has no clue what is going on in the world. It will start with cataloging the Mooslims and then it will be the Christians. Never ever give up your rights because you will never get them back. Trump also thinks it is a good idea to ban all the mosques in the country and stop Mooslims from traveling to the United States. This is very disturbing and pure fascism. How can you claim to be someone who supports freedom when you want to deny someone else theirs?
When someone starts talking about taking away the freedom of others that really perks my ears up. It may not be my group of people, but if I do not defend their rights, no one will be left to help me defend mine…
I know some people are having a difficult time understanding the terror plots taking place around the world. Whose agenda do they fulfill? The children of Satan of course. I wrote a lengthy comment on this topic I think you should read.
Question: Why did God allow Abraham and others to have concubines when they were married?
Name: Brandon T. Ward & WEB Staff
Answer: Thank you for the question Cynthia. To my knowledge there is no law in God’s Word that says it is a sin for a man to have multiple wives. But it does seem to be a law that a woman should not have more than one husband (Romans 7:2-3).
The Bible does not say why God allowed polygamy. It could be due to Genesis 9:7, “be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth“. There have always been more woman on earth than men so this naturally could be one reason. Obviously one man can produce more children with multiple wives over the course of a year than with a single wife alone. To further the point, in times of old it was extremely difficult for a woman to provide and protect themselves. A powerful man would be able to do all of these things for the women under his roof.
While it was allowed, is it prefered? I do not think so. I think it is obvious jealousy would reign supreme in that environment. I believe God intended and would rather one man and one woman. If we read Genesis 2:18-25 God created a single woman (Eve) for Adam, not multiple wives. Verse 24 states, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Notice it does not say cleave unto his “wives“, but “wife“. Christ would echo this point in Matthew 19:6.
The two becoming one flesh can take on both a physical and spiritual aspect. Physical being the creation of a child and spiritual being the bond a husband and wife have together. I believe it would be just about impossible to have any real spiritual bond with 100 wives. Not to mention all the time it would take away from the man focusing on God’s Word.
Please turn your Bible with me to,
1 Timothy 3:2
2 “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;”
While regular men may have multiple wives, the leader of a church should not. To me this makes it clear, God would rather that we have one wife. A church leader, one who teaches truth could be considered a Saint. At least that is what they should strive for and this is a form of holiness though I dislike saying that (Colossians 3:12). The point here is this would be an example of what we should strive to be like and as 1 Peter 1:16 states, “Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
While Jesus Christ is always our example to follow, we can clearly draw on this verse in Timothy as an example to live by as well. Remember, as Christians we are to follow the laws of the land unless it violates God’s Law (Romans 13:1-7).
Question: I understand that the false messiah arrives first at the 6th trumpet. However I am not that bright when it comes to world events and politics. How do I keep my family from being deceived? I have two small children and a husband who is an atheist. Good Biblical advice is more than appreciated.
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Helix thank you for the question. It sounds like you are on the right track and doing an excellent job. You are spot on, Satan will show up before Christ at the sixth trumpet claiming to be Christ.
With respect to your children, it sounds like they have not reached the age of accountability. Just keep teaching them God’s Word and they will be fine. Please turn your Bible with me to,
6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
That is a promise from your Father that you can take to the bank.
With respect to your husband, just keep doing what you are doing and 1 Corinthians 7:13-16 basically agrees with this for spouses who are non-believers. The important thing for you to do is continue to set that Christian example and pray for him. I think we all take the setting an example part for granted. However, people really do notice even if it does not appear they do.
If your husband has listened to you talk about the end times (and this may be the part you are not that knowledgeable about so reference the studies on our site to aid you) and Satan showing up claiming to be Christ… When it finally occours and your husband sees you standing against Satan, that will be a shocking moment for him. Remember, a lot of people are going to be converted in that final hour.
