During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.

Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.

Question 1:

Name: Antonio
Question: Hello,

How do I explain or what scripture can I use to explain about why bad things happen to good people or people in general ? Cancer, mental and physical challenges, or any sickness? If God is in control why do these things happen?

Answer:

Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Antonio and do not doubt for a moment, God is in control.

Cancer and the other conditions you mentioned are a product of life in the flesh. They are also a product of what man has created for himself. Some of these conditions are inherit of the flesh, but there is no doubt the foods we consume, the water we drink and the air we breathe is not as God intended. We have polluted this world to no end. Just last week we posted an article about ecological disasters of course caused by man.

These negative conditions of the flesh and ecological disasters are not some curse that God has placed on man. It is extremely important to remember that our Father does not place burdens on us (Jeremiah 23:32-40).

What I have explained above consists of the very basic issues of life in the flesh. To better answer your question we have to ask ourselves… Since we are spiritual beings why are we in the flesh? The answer to that question lies with our understanding that there was a world before this age of flesh where man existed in their true bodies which are our spiritual bodies that never get sick, old or die. So why are we in the flesh on earth today? Because of the fall of Satan, Satan’s Sin in The First Earth Age.

In that age one third of God’s children willingly followed Satan and rebelled against our Father. Instead of God destroying Satan and that third of His children, He brought about this age of flesh where we could have the opportunity to be born innocent in order to make up our minds who we will follow, God or Satan.

So when we consider all of life’s illnesses and struggles we have Satan to thank for that.

This is a subject most people are not taught, yet we all understand that we are spiritual beings, but we never ask the question, why are we in the flesh?

Question 2:

Name: Deena
Question: Were the seven churches spoken of in Revelations suppose to be the only Christians churches at that time? If not, where were the other churches? Also, if I may ask. It seems when Christ is speaking down to the Pharisees he makes the statement “ye scribes and Pharisees”, did the Sadducees have scribes? If so, were they mentioned as with the Pharisees and some how I read over it?

Answer:

Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Deena thank you for the question.

When we think about the seven churches of Revelation we should not in-vision seven brick and mortar buildings spread about. Instead we should in-vision seven different belief systems. As I am sure you are aware, Christ was only happy with two of the seven churches being Smyrna and Philadelphia as they taught who the children of Satan are and kept in line with the Word of God overall (Revelation 2:9, 3:9). So to answer your question, I have no doubt there were far more than seven churches at that time.

Moreover, all of the scriptures are examples for us in these end times (1 Corinthians 10:11). With that said, take a look around you today. How many churches are actually teaching our Father’s Letter? Not many that is certain and this would not be confined to any particular building, instead it is the core beliefs we all hold with respect to the Bible.

If we want to make our Father happy then we should study His Letter and remember why Christ approved of only two churches; Smyrna and Philadelphia.

With respect to your second question John lumped the Pharisees and Sadducees together. Please turn your Bible with me to,

Matthew 3:7
7 “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”

John is clearly calling both of these groups the off spring of Satan, that is exactly what John was saying in this verse. We should note Christ Himself called the Pharisees and scribes offsping of Satan as well in Matthew 12:34, 23:29-34. I realize you did not ask, but I feel it needs to be documented while we are here. Now turn your Bible with me to,

Matthew 15:1
1 “Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,”

Notice these are two groups of people, the scribes and Pharisees.  I have found no where in the Bible that says either group actually had scribes. I would like to turn our Bible one more time to,

Luke 5:29-30
29 “And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. “

30  “But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?”

It did not say the Pharisees scribes, instead this scripture is talking about the scribes of the publicans. We can note the same instance in several other verses and while the Bible does not specifically say the Sadducees or Pharisees had scribes, it is safe to say every political and religious institution had scribes. So naturally scribes from various institutions would be around to document the events of those days. Just like today during court proceedings as one example we have a “scribe” that we call a “stenographer“.

  1. Hi Brandon, I ask a question about Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. but it didnt go thru, but God is great, I was watching Pastor Murray today on Q&A and it was answered for me. It was an utterance of prophecy by Jesus, how wonderful
    Thank you for your website

  2. Hi Brandon, I just wanted to clarify in your answer to Deena that in Matthew 3:7 it is John the Baptist speaking, not Christ; however, your answer to Deena’s question is still very much correct.
Also, I believe I was taught that the sons of Cain took over as scribes as mentioned in 1Chr.2:55
    .
“And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.”
    .
And after a long while, these scribes took over the much of the Levitical priesthood and divided it. They were also the Nethinims in Ezra 2:43
If you read in the Companion bible in Nehemiah 10:1, you can find this division where it reads “…those that sealed…” ( read Bullinger’s note in the side index) it starts out explaining the following:
    .
“THOSE THAT SEALED.” “These are stated by the *Talmudical writings*, and the unanimous voice of tradition, to have formed ‘The Great Synagogue’.”
    .
I was hoping this might help explain all the names; such as scribes, lawyers, Pharisees, Sadducees, and the Sanhedrin.

    • Driving for God, thank you for checking my work. You are correct. Matthew 12:34, 23:29-34 always stick in my mind and those are Christ’s Words. My error with Matthew 3:7. I edited the post, thank you.

  3. Antonio, That is a great question and Brandon, as always, did a fantastic job explaining.
If I may add; with respect to diseases such as cancer and diabetes, etc., most of this is a result of the western diet. I do realize that genes play a role sometimes but research has shown that is a smaller percentage than most think. The reality is that everything we put in our mouth either leads us to disease or leads us to health. The western diet is literally killing us all in the name of profit. Profits from the junk food manufacturers then profits for the pharmaceutical companies to treat the effects of the poor diet. Look around. When I was a kid there was maybe 1 or 2 overweight kids in our class, not the case these days. I have obese nieces and nephews and it really saddens me….but I also know they eat junk all day, everyday. Over fed, under nourished.
Cancer gets all of the attention, but we must keep in mind that heart disease is still the #1 killer in this country. With the high cholesterol, high fat, pork laden diets it is no wonder. If I may suggest a book titled The China Study or the documentary Forks Over Knives (which is a summary of the book). You will learn that the western diet is a killer and everywhere the western diet travels, the disease ratios increase proportionately, and vice versa. Our Heavenly Father instructed us on what to eat and society as a whole has again turned their backs on His Word. In fact, I recently saw a pastor of a prominent church in our area wearing a T-Shirt with noting but #BACON on the front. What does that tell us. Another church that I will never step foot into.

    • #BACON church = another church that probably thinks that all twelve tribes are in Israel, and only the “Jewish people” need to follow God’s health laws. The “Christian church” can eat all things that move, creep, or slithers. Bon-appetite!

      • Driving, you hit the nail on the head my friend. These so called modern hip churches really ruffle my feathers. The pastors teach from tablets now…they don’t even have their bible on stage. I say stage because it’s all a show 😉

        • I agree with you about the churches of today eagleflyfree, and Jesus preached the same thing:
          .
          Matthew 15:7-
          (7) “Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, (8) This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for *doctrines* the commandments of men.”

          • This is so true in regard to these so called modern Christian churches. Big productions, 8 piece worship bands, hip dressed pastor who teaches from an ipad…….and all the sheep ever get fed is milk and false doctrine. Thanks for sharing that scripture!

          • Good evening eagleflyfree. The spirit in me moved a little bit more on this subject of these showboat churches, and thought that I would add this scripture in reference to your ruffled feather feelings towards them; for it shows inside of you the presence of the seal of God when you feel bitter at these “churches” that mislead by their false teachings.
            .
            Revelation 10:10
“And I took the little book [God’s Word] out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; [meaning that you absorbed it into your mind] and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: [God’s Word is sweet as honey to his elect] and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was *BITTER*.” [It does make those sealed in God’s Word bitter when they see what is being taught in some of these *hip* churches.]
            .
So relish the bitterness my brother, for God’s Word declares it as prophetic evidence as to having THE SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD!! *Rev.* 7:2.
            Peace.

          • Driving, thank you for sharing this scripture with me. I went back and re-read Rev Ch 10 and 11. The modern, so-called Christian churches of today really do annoy and frustrate me. I have many family and friends that attend these churches and all they get is a music concert and skim milk sermon….week after week, year after year. My heart goes out to all of the flock because I know they are being setup to worship Satan. I am careful not to judge anyone because only Father knows the heart of each person.
Most of all, I thank my Heavenly Father for giving us eyes to see and ears to hear. Not just pertaining to His Word, but to all of the current events transpiring right before our eyes. I must say that this website is a huge factor in both His Word and current events. I simply pray that Father’s Will be done in all of our lives and that He will continue to lead, guide and direct our steps. Whether He brings me home today or if He will have me make that stand against Satan…as long as His will is done.
Again, thank you Driving for the scripture and kind words.

Amen! I am out here in Hawaii and experiencing the same.

          • I know what you mean, Driving for God, I show people the truth in God’s word and they scoff at me, I understand that God gave some people the spirit of stuper and others delusion, and your right, same as Eagleflyfree,it makes me very bitter cause they wont listen. I don’t want to sound mean or anything but when satan arrives, does one tell them I tried to tell you what was going to happen but you didn’t listen

          • Yeah, I know what you mean Mark. The Christians who believe in the “rapture”; they are under strong delusion by our Father and represent to me a perfect example of what we are talking about, for whenever I try to correctly show them how to read 2Thess. 2:1-3; it seems that their eyes just glaze over and that spirit of slumber/stupor really takes hold of them; however, don’t worry; in *that day*, when they start to realize that they are still here and not floating in the clouds of glory, they just might witness one of God’s elect being delivered up to give testimony against Satan (by allowing God’s holy spirit to speak through them; in that cloven tongue spoken of by Joel the profit), and at that moment that seed you planted at some prior time, springs to life in them and they come out of that confusion to receive that testimony.
            For it is written:
            2Corinthians 9:6-7
            (6) “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. (7) Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
So Mark, don’t you worry about those who scoff, just plant that seed; and after that, it’s up to God to make it grow. Your work is done! Unless of course, they follow up with you at a later date and start inquiring to you about God’s Word. If that happens, feed them.

          • Thank you, Driving for God for the scripture and your comment. It goes along way with me because I take things to heart and I thank our Heavenly Father for giving me a strong will Because in my younger years I was a week person, he has given me a yearning I’ve never had before

  4. Antonio, just a little more on your question. God gave free will to all but a few, the rest of mankind does what they want and God does not interfere, except on occasion if they ask and it fits into God’s plan. What has mankind done with their free will? Pretty much everything God said not to do. Mankind has done this to himself, not God. Never blame God, he does not like that. God may on occasion call someone home as they say, but mostly mankind sends themselves to Him. God is there waiting, He did not do it. Mankind is responsible for the condition and consequences we find ourselves in, not God. That is the result of free will, man destroys himself.

Yes God is in Control but He has a plan. God has a few he uses to complete His plan, the rest, almost everyone on the planet, have free will. God is not responsible for what mankind chooses to do to themselves, or what they do to their fellow mankind. Remember, God does not interfere with what mankind chooses to do to themselves or what man allows other men to do to them.

People blame God, they say everything happens because God wants it to, that is a lie. If that were true Satan would never have rebelled and we would not be in the flesh. They blame God then they ask God to save them. If someone blames God then they are a fool and God is mad at them, He is not going to save them, that is not part of His plan. God wrote us a letter telling us everything we need to know and do, we are supposed to read it and understand it and do it. Accusing and blaming God is not what He said to do, so don’t expect any favors from Him if you do. That is what you should tell anyone who puts the burden on God.
