Welcome to our bi-weekly post Bible Question, Answer and Discussion where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.
Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.
How do I explain or what scripture can I use to explain about why bad things happen to good people or people in general ? Cancer, mental and physical challenges, or any sickness? If God is in control why do these things happen?
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Antonio and do not doubt for a moment, God is in control.
Cancer and the other conditions you mentioned are a product of life in the flesh. They are also a product of what man has created for himself. Some of these conditions are inherit of the flesh, but there is no doubt the foods we consume, the water we drink and the air we breathe is not as God intended. We have polluted this world to no end. Just last week we posted an article about ecological disasters of course caused by man.
These negative conditions of the flesh and ecological disasters are not some curse that God has placed on man. It is extremely important to remember that our Father does not place burdens on us (Jeremiah 23:32-40).
What I have explained above consists of the very basic issues of life in the flesh. To better answer your question we have to ask ourselves… Since we are spiritual beings why are we in the flesh? The answer to that question lies with our understanding that there was a world before this age of flesh where man existed in their true bodies which are our spiritual bodies that never get sick, old or die. So why are we in the flesh on earth today? Because of the fall of Satan, Satan’s Sin in The First Earth Age.
In that age one third of God’s children willingly followed Satan and rebelled against our Father. Instead of God destroying Satan and that third of His children, He brought about this age of flesh where we could have the opportunity to be born innocent in order to make up our minds who we will follow, God or Satan.
So when we consider all of life’s illnesses and struggles we have Satan to thank for that.
This is a subject most people are not taught, yet we all understand that we are spiritual beings, but we never ask the question, why are we in the flesh?

Question: Were the seven churches spoken of in Revelations suppose to be the only Christians churches at that time? If not, where were the other churches? Also, if I may ask. It seems when Christ is speaking down to the Pharisees he makes the statement “ye scribes and Pharisees”, did the Sadducees have scribes? If so, were they mentioned as with the Pharisees and some how I read over it?
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Deena thank you for the question.
When we think about the seven churches of Revelation we should not in-vision seven brick and mortar buildings spread about. Instead we should in-vision seven different belief systems. As I am sure you are aware, Christ was only happy with two of the seven churches being Smyrna and Philadelphia as they taught who the children of Satan are and kept in line with the Word of God overall (Revelation 2:9, 3:9). So to answer your question, I have no doubt there were far more than seven churches at that time.
Moreover, all of the scriptures are examples for us in these end times (1 Corinthians 10:11). With that said, take a look around you today. How many churches are actually teaching our Father’s Letter? Not many that is certain and this would not be confined to any particular building, instead it is the core beliefs we all hold with respect to the Bible.
If we want to make our Father happy then we should study His Letter and remember why Christ approved of only two churches; Smyrna and Philadelphia.
With respect to your second question John lumped the Pharisees and Sadducees together. Please turn your Bible with me to,
7 “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”
John is clearly calling both of these groups the off spring of Satan, that is exactly what John was saying in this verse. We should note Christ Himself called the Pharisees and scribes offsping of Satan as well in Matthew 12:34, 23:29-34. I realize you did not ask, but I feel it needs to be documented while we are here. Now turn your Bible with me to,
1 “Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,”
Notice these are two groups of people, the scribes and Pharisees. I have found no where in the Bible that says either group actually had scribes. I would like to turn our Bible one more time to,
29 “And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. “
30 “But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?”
It did not say the Pharisees scribes, instead this scripture is talking about the scribes of the publicans. We can note the same instance in several other verses and while the Bible does not specifically say the Sadducees or Pharisees had scribes, it is safe to say every political and religious institution had scribes. So naturally scribes from various institutions would be around to document the events of those days. Just like today during court proceedings as one example we have a “scribe” that we call a “stenographer“.
We would like to thank our Father for giving us this platform in order to spread His most precious Word. We would also like to thank our readers for submitting their questions and giving us the opportunity to share them with the audience. If you would like to ask a question submit it for the next edition of this post and continue the discussion by leaving a comment below. Previous editions of Bible Q&A can be found in our archive.
