Bible Question and Answer

Welcome to our bi-weekly post Bible Question, Answer and Discussion where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.

Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.

Question 1:

Name: David
Question: In reference to Revelation 9:14 concerning the 4 Angels in the River Euphrates could 2 of these be the Angelic prince of Persia and the prince of Grecian that Gabriel strove against in Daniel 10:20 My supposition the other 2 would be an evil angel over Babylon and then an evil angel over Rome. After Christ had risen from the dead after the Crucifixion could these 4 have been imprisoned and restrained until the Sixth Trump. Hebrews 2:5 alludes to angels overseeing the works of human kingdoms. We know that somehow satan became the ruler over all the earth. If these angels passed their crowns to satan maybe that could explain why God imprisoned them. Satan is now the only evil entity controlling the kingdoms of man until God takes his power away I know a lot of supposition here. Just asking for opinions .

Name: WEB Staff
Answer: Thank you for the question David.

No, the four angels are not tied to Daniel. Remember from Chapter 1 of “The Timeline of the Tribulation” we learned those kingdoms, Persia and Greece were only a part of the image Daniel saw. That image was comprised of five elements that were symbolic for five kingdoms and “each of these elements are the powers of the former five kingdoms which are combined together in these latter days to create the sixth kingdom that will be destroyed by Christ at His return.” We are now in the power of the sixth kingdom. So this is a whole separate subject from the four angels bound in the Euphrates River. Turn your Bible with me to,

Revelation 9:13
13 “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,”

The Sixth Angel sounds the Sixth Trumpet and when it sounds Satan will be cast from Heaven to earth by Michael the Angel (Revelation 12:7-9).

Revelation 9:14
14 “Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.”

At the sounding of the Sixth Trumpet we see these four angels are loosened. Are they really in the River Euphrates scuba diving? I doubt it. More than likely this is symbology and identifying for us the location where we can expect to see a lot of action begin.

Revelation 9:15
15 “And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.”

When it says these four angels “were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year” it means a specific point in time, right down to the instant this will take place. We are not talking about an event that drags on, but a specific moment in time. While I believe these angels are wicked, I would ask, who controls them?

Our Father does.

He is always in control, though these four angels may very well be a part of the Locust Army, even high ranking officers, our Father is still the General. We can also note four angels in Revelation 7 causing harm when the Trumpets start to sound and these are also controlled by our Father. Are they wicked? I do not believe so.

Let us continue.

Revelation 9:16
16 “And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.”

You can read more about this Locust Army in Revelation 9:4-9 and note they cannot harm those with the Seal of God in their forehead. Which means the Saints have been Sealed by our Father’s Word against any deception and destruction.

Concerning your thought on the angels handing down crowns. Since the dawn of this age of flesh Satan has been in control of it, what our Father allows (2 Corinthians 4:4, Matthew 4:9). The angels have no power over the kingdoms of the earth in this regard.

Rather, it is our Father who “removeth kings, and setteth up kings” and as I already said, God does allow Satan control, to a degree, over these kingdoms and that is certainly becoming evident when we see those who rule the nations today (Daniel 2:21).

Question 2:

Name: Lilly
Question: Can you tell me how I can find proof of the Hebrew calendar to look up the first day of the year?
How they calculate it. I’ve heard it is the spring equinox on the fourteenth or fifteenth day. (Passover)
When this started and why?

Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Lilly, thank you for the question.

Please turn your Bible with me and listen to the Words of our Father.

Exodus 12:2
2 “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.”

Our Father told us the month the Israelites would leave Egyptian bondage and establish the passover would be the first month of the year, the beginning of months. In Exodus 13:4 we are given the name of the month which is “Abib“. “Abib” is Strong’s word 24 and it means, “green, that is a young ear of grain; hence the name of the month Abib” which refers to the time of year this month falls on.

At what time of year does nature spring back to life and become green? Naturally, in the Spring, the time of the Vernal Equinox when day and night are approximately equal in duration across the planet. The time when it starts to warm and plants come alive and the critters come out of their homes.

Webster’s Dictionary 1828 (American Dictionary of the English Language) states, Abib “begins at the spring equinox, and answers to the latter part of March and beginning of April.

The Spring Equinox occurs this year (2017) on March 20th which will be “the first month (Abib) of the year” on our Father’s Calendar.

On the “fourteenth day of the same month(Abib) the Israelites were to take an unblemished lamb and sacrifice it in the evening which is just hours from the fifteenth day of the month which is the High Holy Day, passover (Exodus 12:6). You will have to remember, the Hebrew (Israelite) day starts at sunset. So just before sunset on the evening hours of the fourteenth day the Israelites were to kill their unblemished lamb and that night which marks the beginning of the fifteenth day is the time when the Lord passed over the home of those who had placed the blood of that lamb over their door posts and lintels (Exodus 12:23).

Lilly I highly encourage you to read our study, “Passover: Why We Should Be Celebrating It As Christians” which documents this passover of old was fulfilled by Jesus Christ when He became our Passover Lamb, dying for us so that we could live.
