Man was condemned in the Garden of Eden when Eve partook of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (learn the truth). What did God say if that happened in Genesis 2:17? In the day you do it, you will die. Obviously Adam and Eve did not drop dead that day. Our Father was referring to His timeline, not man’s. You should understand “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day,” (2 Peter 3:8). Meaning, one of God’s days is a 1,000 year span of time to us. No man ever lived to 1,000, though a few were very close. The only way to live forever is to follow Jesus Christ and you will obtain a much better body, a body that never gets sick, old or dies.
