Bible Question and Answer
Question: When someone dies they always say they got there angel wings. I’ve been told that’s not it at all . When we die do we sleep the Judgement?
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Kathy.
When we die in the flesh we do not obtain wings, that is not Biblical. Let us document that, please turn your Bible with me to,
26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
Our Father created “us” in His image, “us” meaning those who are on earth today and the entire host (angels) of the Heavens. It is pretty obvious we do not have wings, therefore there are no wings to obtain.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ told us in John 14:9 “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father“. Christ did not have wings, so this is well documented in the scriptures.
I will say, it is true the symbolic angels on the Ark Of The Covenant had wings. However, this symbolic design displays the protection our Father provides.
It is extremely important to understand our Father utilizes symbology, figures of speech, nature and other things in His Word. He does this to provide us with a deeper meanings to the scriptures which provide us with many different levels of understanding.
As a matter of fact, Psalms mentions that our Father has protecting wings. Let us document that.
4 “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
Does God really have wings though? Of course not. We documented that above in John 14:9.
We should understand a mother bird will protect her young at all costs and will naturally use her wings to provide that protection. That is all we are talking about here.
In other verses of the Bible our Father is referred to as a great fir tree which is an evergreen tree (Isaiah 55:13). This is symbolic of everlasting life as the needles of these trees are always green. Of course our Father is not some tree, but He is everlasting and that is the point.
Concerning your second question I am going to assume you mean, ‘do we sleep until the judgement‘.
Once we die “then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it,” (Ecclesiastes 12:7).
Further, “we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord“, (2 Corinthians 5:8).
When we die in the flesh we are raised into our true bodies, our spiritual bodies and we transition into Heaven and end up on one of two sides of the great gulf in Heaven. You can read more about this great divide in a past Bible Q&A.
Question: We are suppose to rest on the 7th day, which would be Saturday, right? Then why do people still go to church on Sunday? If or when they pass this Sunday Law, I think the date has been set for in October of this year. That Sunday Law will be the worship of satan, and that is why they want to make it a law, am i correct? If this is correct, then the people who go to church on Sunday, will they be deceived into thinking they are worshiping God? If I am wrong in this thinking, Please advise as to why they want to make it a law to worship on Sunday. Thank you Brandon for all you do.
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Gwen and you are very welcome. We thank our Father for all He does for each and every one of us.
I am not sure what Sunday law you are referencing so I will not be able to address that. I will say God does not play trickery with us, Satan on the other hand does. During the Tribulation Satan will claim to be God and Satan will display wondrous acts before men on earth (Revelation 13:13).
To my knowledge there is no way to know for sure which day is the Seventh Day. Meaning to know the day our Father stopped His Work. We have to remember for thousands of years there was no written Word, so how did mankind keep record of the events in the book we call the Bible today?
I am sure the accounts from long ago were passed down from one generation to the next and I feel they used the stars as a part of that account. Dr. E. W. Bullinger has a work on this titled, “Witness of the Stars” and you can find some information in the back of the Companion Bible on this as well (Appendix 12).
The point is, there is no real 100% way to know the true Sabbath. We do know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is our Sabbath, He became the Sabbath and we are to take our rest in Him (Hebrews 4:8-10, Mark 2:28).
Personally I take my rest in Christ each and every day. One Sunday a week is not going to cut it for my family and I. We communion with Him through prayer, personal study and we devote time to Him on this site, including our discussion here.
I think Christians typically forget or simply do not understand that Christ fulfilled the Sabbath, by becoming our Sabbath just as He became our Passover. I do feel we should take a day off from our work activities. Does it need to be a Sunday or Saturday? No. Those are traditions of the church. Is there anything wrong with church services on Sunday or Saturday? No.
I would caution you and our readers, there are entire religions based on the topic we are discussing. I have seen people divided to no end because someone believes in say a Saturday service.
I am probably going to end up sharing just a bit too much here, but I think it might help on a couple different levels. We are country people and at one point in time there was a neighbor who hung a big red banner over their gate to let the rest of us know “the Sabbath was on Saturday” and we were horrible sinners for playing outside on that day. One of our other neighbors came up with his own sign, but I get to keep that part of that story.
The point is, it divided the rest of the neighborhood against the red banner neighbors. So guess how much of God’s Word they were able to share with the rest of the community? Zip, zero, nada. Even if what they believed was true, they divided the people and no one would listen to them.
That is not how you share or present God’s Word if you want to be taken seriously or help people understand the Bible. But it certainly will drive people from the truth and that is something you do not want on your record.
Gwen, we have a couple past Bible Q&As that I would love for you to read on the subject of the Sabbath. You can find them below.
Question: Hello my name is Rebecca Hardymon and I have a question, I was almost 6 months along with my baby girl her heart stopped beating and I’m not sure why but I know she has a soul and I know she’s with the father but I’m not sure if she will grow up in heaven or if she is in her adult age and stay the same forever once she reaches that age? I’m a little confused. Thanks so much.
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Rebecca, thank you for the question.
That is so heart breaking, I am really sorry for your loss. I am sure you find comfort understanding she is in Heaven with our Father.
Rebecca, for those who have passed on before us they are changed into their true bodies, which are our spiritual bodies that never get sick, old or die (1 Corinthians 15:35-55). Once we occupy our true spiritual body we are young in age, but a mature age.
This is documented throughout the Bible. In every account where an angel is mentioned they are described as being a young adult.
Of course the word “angel” (Strong’s word: G32) simple means “messenger“. Some of these angels could be those who have passed on before us. In Revelation we find a good case for this where the angel tells John not to worship him “for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God,” (Revelation 22:9).
The entire purpose of this age of flesh is to decide who we are going to follow; God or Satan. Our time on earth is very temporary, while the Eternity will last forever. Your little girl is in good hands Rebecca, our Father’s Hands.
We would like to thank our Father for giving us this platform in order to spread His most precious Word. We would also like to thank our readers for submitting their questions and giving us the opportunity to share them with the audience.
