Bible Verse of the Day

Bible Verse of the Day

Romans 13:6

“For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.”

The subject is the government of a nation from verse 1. We are simply told to pay our taxes to the nation we reside in.

Romans 13:1
1 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

God ordained the powers that be, but that does not make them righteous. Remember, there are good and bad works that must come to pass in this world.

Romans 13:3
3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:”

4For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

A “minister” can be a Christian teacher, but it can also mean “an attendant, servant“. The government is supposed to be the servant to us, they are known as “public servants“. This is how they are “God’s ministers“, as they allow Christian ministries to exist and thrive in this nation.

Unfortunately at this hour we are seeing this change, just as it did in times of old. Notice what verse 3 said, “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil“. Good rulers are not a terror to good works, but wicked rulers are a terror to good works. Keep this in mind as the days march on. Keep this in mind when you see your Christian brothers and sisters and their businesses persecuted for their beliefs.
