Welcome to our bi-weekly post Bible Question and Answer where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer one of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.
Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Due to your ongoing participation, these Bible Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation, this section of our site would not exist.
If you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible Question and Answer“.
Bible Question and Answer
Name: Jeannette H.
Question: Genesis 1:24-31
Here it is mentioned that man was created on the sixth day.
Where did you get the eighth day from?
Isn’t the creation a 7-day process?
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Jeannette, thank you for the question.
Technically creation was a six day process “and on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made,” (Genesis 2:2).
So naturally any point in time after the seventh day would be the next day which would be the eighth day. You are not going to find an “eighth day” in the Bible, do not bother looking. That is simply an obvious conclusion we have to make considering the information we are given. Our Father rested from His wonderful work and would create Adam and Eve on what would be the eighth day.
To be clear and ensure we cover this correctly, Adam was not formed until Genesis 2:7 where the word “man” in the manuscripts has the “article” and “particle” in the ancient Hebrew language meaning “this very, this same” man Adam on what we will call the eighth day. While “mankind” itself which includes all of the races were created on the sixth day where “man” is used without the “article” and “particle” (Genesis 1:26). If you have a Companion Bible you can reference this in the marginal notes of Genesis 2:7 and we provide that for free. You can also reference Appendix 14 I.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to document this through the Strong’s Concordance easily, only a dated Green’s Interlinear Bible will be able to do that for you. This is why we must be diligent and careful in our study of the Bible.
Name: Steve and Jodi
Question: Hey Brandon, a question im asked alot is the ufo/alien existance.
I use Ezekiel chapters 1-3 for ufo’s and Ephesians 6:11-19 for the possibility of alien lifeforms and/or evil spirits disguised as aliens.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Steve and Jodi
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Thank you for the question Steve and Jodi.
I am not sure exactly where you wanted me to go here so if I veer off on you, my apologies.
In all my life I have yet to see a space alien or even one of their ships. We all saw the photos from the 70s-90s of blurred objects way off in the distance, but that is as close as anyone ever came to snapping a photo of the “green” or “gray” creatures. Even in this high technology age we find ourselves in, we have camera’s literally everywhere, I have two on my phone, not to mention the rest of my devices and these are all HD (high definition). I am not special, we all have these type of devices. Yet, no one can seem to catch a clear shot of these “space aliens“.
That is because they do not exist, neither are they written about in our Father’s Letter. I tell you what though, making up space alien / evil spirit stories sure sells material though. If the people want to buy it and be deceived, let them be deceived.
You know what is written in our Father’s Letter? Our Heavenly Father said, “let us make man in our image, after our likeness,” (Genesis 1:26). Our Father thought so much of us we are made in His Image, we look like He does. We have two arms and two legs and a head that sometimes does not work so well.
I am sure none of this is news to you two, but maybe it will help you explain to others and those reading this.
We have two Bible Q&As for you that go in depth on the subject of the aircraft in Ezekiel, you will find them below and I hope you find them helpful.
Name: Rebecca L. (also: Antonio, Faye)
Question: Mr. Brandon,
Although I don’t celebrate Christmas, I do bead work that covers the bulbs that hang on the tree or wherever, for sale. Is that wrong or hypocritical? This is something I have thought about for a while so I would greatly appreciate your reply.
One more question please, do you believe that Jehovah and the holy ghost, are one? We know Jehovah is Jesus’s Father, I am just confused about what I call God’s active force. Think of when Jesus was baptized, only Jehovah spoke, correct?
Thanks so very much for your time, Sincerely, Rebecca
Name: Brandon T. Ward
Answer: Rebecca (also: Antonio, Faye), thank you for the questions.
Concerning Christmas, let me first say I am sure our Father appreciates the fact that you care enough to ask the question.
Let us clear something up here.
Christmas Day is known around the world to be Christ’s Day. We can and we should celebrate Christmas which was the day Jesus Christ was conceived, the day Jesus Christ came to dwell in the flesh. It is probably the only day of the year some even think about Him so we need to ensure we take advantage of that and keep it alive to the best of our ability. Celebrating does not mean dragging and propping up trees in our home and going into debt to buy presents, those are vain customs as we outline in these three Bible Q&As.
- Bible Q&A: Is it okay to celebrate Christmas?
- Bible Q&A: Is it wrong to celebrate Thanksgiving and/or Christmas?
- Bible Q&A: Am I a heathen if I do not celebrate Christmas?
I do not know when you learned the truth about the modern celebration of Christmas neither do I know if you make your living selling those bulb coverings. But I want us all to use common sense here and not get hung up with guilt trips. It is clear, you love our Father and you want to do right by Him and I admire that.
You are making nice decorative bulb coverings that can be used for a number of things, decorating trees just happens to be one of those things. I have seen people hang bulbs on their fire place mantels, in windows, down stairs you name it there is a place for it. You keep on making your bulb coverings and do not feel bad about it and hang some in your home as well. Hang up some lights in the windows if you like. There is no sin in that.
It is very important that we follow our Father’s Letter, but it is equally important to ensure we do not go so far in one direction that it turns out to be outside of what God intended.
Say Merry Christmas to people (if it is fitting, tell them it is conception day), bake them a pie, do not just let the day pass without being “merry“. We should be happy on this day, we should celebrate this day, just do not celebrate it like the heathen, do not commercialize it.
Rebecca, concerning your question about our Father Jehovah and the Holy Spirit being one, you are not alone. Antonio and Faye also had the same question so we will answer them here as well and I thank them for the questions as well.
You are very observant and correct, God spoke from Heaven while Christ was on earth during the Baptism. We cover that and go in great depth on this subject in a previous Bible Q&A. The question was actually about God’s name, but we took that discussion to the Three being one, so read through question 2 linked below and you will have your answer firmly documented.
- Bible Q&A: What is God’s Name (the three are one)?
We would like to thank our Father for giving us this platform in order to spread His most precious Word. We would also like to thank our readers for submitting their questions and giving us the opportunity to share them with the audience. If you would like to ask a question submit it for the next edition of this post and continue the discussion by leaving a comment below.
