WEB Notes: If you did not know before, you will now. I find this “teaching” disturbing and disgusting. Our Father is not hard up for a buck. Our Father owns the entire world and everything in it, including you (Psalms 24:1). It is not our Father that needs the buck, but the church. Do not let someone try and weasel you out of your money and certainly do not let them lay a guilt trip on you. It is true, we should donate and help our Christian communities when they help us, it keeps the message coming, but do not demand anything from the people (Proverbs 3:9-10)!…
We should not put God first “each January”. We should put Him first each and everyday of our lives. Some teachers are willing to offer you a “a book, devotional and/or wall calendar in exchange” for your donation and “depending on the amount donated.”
Someone is after your dollars my friends. Did Christ ever say to charge for a Bible study?
Christ told us “freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).
There is nothing wrong with asking for a donation, but to tell the people there are “consequences” if they do not is absolutely disgusting and I will not let this slide.
You do not need to hit some “donation button” to honor your Father. You know how you can honor Him? By telling Him you love Him and do right by His Word, that is what He wants from you, your love (Hosea 6:6).
Prosperity preacher Paula White, who also serves as the chair of President Trump’s Evangelical Advisory Board, is urging her followers to give a “first fruits” financial offering with the start of 2018, stating that there are “consequences” for those who don’t do so out of “ignorance or direct disobedience.”
“As you remember the Lord your God, according to Deuteronomy 8:18, through your first fruits offering, He gives you the power to acquire wealth to establish His covenant,” she wrote in a post on her website, accompanied by a YouTube video.
“Each January, I put God first and honor Him with the first of our substance by sowing a first fruits offering of one month’s pay. That is a big sacrifice, but it is a seed for the harvest I am believing for in the coming year,” White outlined.
White is offering a book, devotional and/or wall calendar in exchange for a first fruits offering, depending on the amount donated.
“Remember, I believe in sowing a month’s, week’s or day’s pay. By honoring God and obeying His Word, it shifts something supernaturally! It’s about doing your very best!” she wrote. “Honoring God with the principle of first fruits with your seed is all about Him—God is worth it! Let me hear from you right away and make your ‘promise to come’ a reality!”
“I want you to click on that [donate] button, and I want you to honor God with His first fruits offering,” White also urged in the video accompanying the article.
