Machines Will Do More Tasks Than Humans By 2025

WEB Notes: It is an ever changing world and this is where we are going like it or not. If you are in the technology field, keep those skills sharp.

Robots will handle 52 percent of current work tasks by 2025, almost twice as many as now, a World Economic Forum (WEF) study said Monday.

The sharp increase could also see a net gain in “new roles” for humans, who will have to revamp skills to keep pace with the “seismic shift” in how we work with machines and computer programmes, the forum estimated.

“By 2025 more than half of all current workplace tasks will be performed by machines as opposed to 29 percent today,” a statement by the Swiss non-profit organisation said.

  1. “Thoigh thete is still a need for old school skills” – like spell checking, haha!

  2. I personally loved applying ‘old school’ techniques at the lab bench and could not stand having to assist automated machines when imprecision occurred. I ended up spending inordinate amounts of time mesmerised by these robots performing synchronized dancing of parts as the machines ran through protocols – so a bit of a time waster for me!!
My husband decided not to use automated machinery (CNC) for his trade as any mistake in entering in digits could result in serious injury or worse.
We’re both a bit old fashioned for our age and I wasn’t enthused about automated machinery. I quite resisted the speed of the data output, I prefer a slower delivery of information. I watch folk only 15-20 years my junior and they rip through programming and analysis at a speed I cannot fathom. My brain is not wired that way and to be quite honest I do not think I can actually speed up my brain (or ‘keep my skills sharp’) to keep pace with the more modern instruments and workflows. I guess I made the decision in part to put myself to pasture so to speak!! Thoigh thete is still a need for old school skills. For current work opportunities I’ll rely on my people skills which I consider to be lacking in general in society.
