Should Churches Pressure Us To Get Vaccinated?

Name: Runae
Question: How do we discern our own Church’s response to the vaccine. They have placed signs on every other pew stating – If you have received your COVID vaccination – You may sit in this pew.

We love our church family and have only attended this church. We will not get the vaccine and feel this statement by the church is not acceptable. Do we stand against it or let it slide. We feel they have crossed a line.

Thanks.

Answer: Runae, thank you for the question.

You have already discerned your church’s actions are not in line with your beliefs. I think you should pray about it. Your family should consider what the actions of the church mean. Not only for your family, but for your fellow church members, and the community as a whole.

  • How will this impression be felt and accepted moving forward?
  • Should churches influence our health decisions and apply peer pressure to make us conform to their belief?

We Should Not Show Partiality

What you have explained means your church is segregating people. Those who are vaccinated can sit here, those who are not vaccinated can sit there, so they can be shamed.

If we are going to start segregating again, then let’s just start separating people by race, by the amount of money they have, by those who tithe, and those who do not. Let’s just shame the people.

Yet, the Book of James taught us against showing partiality, (James 2:1-4). This all makes me sick Runae.

I want to share some facts with you.

The World Health Organization On COVID-19 Vaccination

Just two weeks ago, we cited a World Health Organization (W.H.O.) article that was discussing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Within that article, you will find the following question and answer.

Does it prevent infection and transmission?

We do not know whether the vaccine will prevent infection and protect against onward transmission. Immunity persists for several months, but the full duration is not yet known. These important questions are being studied.

W.H.O.

In the same article, they have another question and answer.

Is it safe?

While this vaccine has yet to be approved by WHO for an Emergency Use Listing…

W.H.O.

Our governments and apparently churches are telling us to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Yet, the World Health Organization ‘does not know if the vaccine will prevent infection and protect against transmission’. Further, the W.H.O. has still not approved the COVID-19 vaccine for “emergency use”.

I thought we were in the middle of an emergency?

Days ago, the same World Health Organization said,

We are not certain at this stage that the vaccine prevents transmission.

W.H.O. spokeswoman Margaret Harris via Reuters

So the W.H.O. has not changed their position, but we are being told to get vaccinated. Let’s not forget Doctor Fauci doubting the efficacy of COVID vaccines as well.

Regardless of whether any vaccine is effective and safe, or if a virus is as deadly as advertised. It should always remain our sole choice without being shamed or coerced into accepting a vaccine.

Further, I think Christians should remember. Nearly all churches have a 501c3 tax exemption status from the government. This does put those churches on the hook to conform to the government’s agenda, or churches risk losing that exemption.

This Is What I Would Do

Runae, I don’t like to tell people what they should do. I am not in your shoes, I do not know all the circumstances. In these situations, I can only provide facts, Biblical guidance, and ask you to pray about it.

However, I can certainly explain what I would do if it were me and my family.

I would stand against it.

I would print off the articles from the World Health Organization and Reuters. I would highlight the important parts which explain, there is no evidence the vaccine is effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19, and it has not been approved for emergency use.

Then I would respectfully reach out to my Pastor, and either schedule a meeting with him, or take him aside privately. I would discuss the issue with him, and show him the facts right from the source. Then I would tell him how I feel about being pressured.

I would remain respectful throughout the conversation, and use my time wisely, only pointing out the most important evidence to support my case. If the Pastor insisted pressuring people to get a vaccine is acceptable, I would have to find another church to attend.

The Hype Of COVID-19

Further, I think we have to remember the facts about COVID-19.

Here are some quotes from the CDC’s own documents.

Most people have mild COVID-19 illness and can recover at home without medical care.

CDC

So then, do we really need a vaccine for a virus when most people have mild symptoms?

In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID–19 cannot be made, but it is suspected or likely (e.g., the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty), it is acceptable to report COVID–19 on a death certificate as “probable” or “presumed.”

CDC

This documents, the COVID-19 death numbers were inflated due to faulty reporting methods.

The CDC’s own data also tells us COVID-19 has a survival rate of 99.98%, and Out Of All COVID Deaths, Only 5% Were Solely Due To COVID. Lastly, when we were told face masks were necessary to protect others from infection, that was not true as asymptomatic transmission of COVID-19 never happens.

With that now said…

Questions For Christians

Should we conform because the government, church, or a global authority told us to?

We should not be quick to forget, the largest religious institutions of the time demanded Pilate crucify Jesus Christ, (Matthew 27:1-2, 12, 22-23). Instead of blindly accepting what we are told, we should question it (as Runae), pray about it, and find Biblical examples of it.

We should also note, in the Book of Daniel, we find him and his three friends standing against oppression.

The situation Runae has presented reminds me of the Mark of the Beast. In fact, these sorts of things are a precursor to that future event.

We should not think in a silo or isolation from the Bible and history. One day, the Antichrist will be President of the World, (Revelation 13:5-7). Our elected officials will be at his beck and call to enforce his wicked agenda, which will seem righteous. It will seem like the right thing to do.

  • Will the churches stand against that, or will they conform?
  • Will the churches stand for God, or will they crawl away and hide?

Time will tell, but history and the trends of today do not look good, (Revelation 2-3).

This is all very serious.

In the end, it is up to each and every one of us to ensure God’s Word is being promoted and taught correctly, (Acts 17:11). When questions arise Biblically or not, we are to question the teachers in charge.
