Does Revelation Pertain To Us Today?

Name: Cynthia
Question: I come from a Catholic background. However, I do not practice that faith as I have a hard time with my mother when she says that the book of Revelations was written for the people of long ago and that it does not pertain to the people now. I tell her she is wrong and needs to go to read the Bible. This gets very heated at times with my family – please advise – what a great website
God Bless – Cynthia

Answer: Thank you for the question and kind words, our Father gets all the credit.

Let me first just say if you and your mother have a difference of opinion on the Bible that is well and good. But do not let it escalate into a heated exchange.

One thing is certain when it evolves to that level, no matter who is correct the other side will not listen as they have shifted into defense mode. Work the truth in there the best you can, I am sure you know what your mother’s limits are. When you can, show her the scriptures so she can see with her own eyes while you are in her presence.

Concerning the book of Revelation as being a description of past events, please turn your Bible with me to,

Revelation 21:1
1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”

I can guarantee you this event has not happened yet, take a look around and also note that when Christ returns we are all instantly changed back into our true bodies which are our spiritual bodies that never get sick, old or die (1 Corinthians 15:52-55).

Revelation 21:2
2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”

This event is far into the future and marks the first day of the Eternity with God. This event cannot occur until the Millenium is complete, the Millenium cannot begin until the Return of Christ which cannot begin until the Tribulation of Satan.

Revelation 21:3
3 “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.”

Take a look around you, do you see our Father?

We are all in these flesh sacks we call bodies and our Father surely is not dwelling with us yet.

Again, what happens before all of this?

The Tribulation of Satan, then the Return of Christ which begins the Millennium. That is the one-thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ, the time when we are placed into our true bodies, our spiritual bodies.

Revelation 21:4-5
4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

When we enter the Eternity, when our Heavenly Father literally lives with us here on earth, then He will wipe away all tears from our eyes as there will be no more sorrow or death.

Our Father said it and you can surely count on it.
