What Happened During The Fall Of The World That Was?

Name: John
Question: Hi Brandon,
Referencing your study on The World That Then Was, what is your speculation of what happened to all the billions of souls and spiritual bodies as the world was being destroyed? If a spiritual body doesn’t die or get old, that sounds pretty indestructible to me. What happened to them and how did they make it through? Enough time must of gone by before the decision was made before flesh man was created. Where were we then? With our father, of course but, in relation to the proximity of the earth you could say. Love your hard work. Thank you and God Bless.

Answer: Thank you for the question John. Great to hear you are enjoying the site, we thank our Father for that.

Readers, John is referencing our Bible Study, “In The Beginning: The World That Then Was.” If you have not read that study, please do so before continuing your reading here, then you will have a basis and Scriptural documentation for the discussion below.

You are correct, the spiritual body is indestructible, it is not “corruptible” (Strong’s: G5349) as 1 Corinthians 15:40-55 explains. Simply meaning, the spiritual body is not “perishable” unless our Father decides otherwise. The end of the Millennium comes to mind where the spiritual body and soul of the wicked will be destroyed, (Revelation 20:11-15).

Next, I want to ensure we understand our soul which is our spirit resides in either a spiritual or flesh (natural) body. The Angels have a soul, just as we have a soul. They have a spiritual body, we have a flesh body. You can read in detail about the two different bodies in 1 Corinthians 15:35-55.

During The World That Then Was, I believe we all lived in our true bodies, the spiritual body. I can confidently say that as we do not find remains of people that are millions of years old. We only find remains of real humans back to about 8,000 years or so, from the Sixth Day of Genesis, depending on who is telling you the story anyway, (Genesis 1:24-31).

The Destruction Of The World That Then Was

So there we were, in “the world that then was”, the sons of God singing for joy, it was a perfect time until Satan Rebelled against God, (Job 38:7, 2 Peter 3:6). Due to Satan’s fall, God destroyed the age and placed the earth into a ruinous condition as we documented in The World That Then Was.

Remember, Satan was not alone in his sin, the majority of the people sinned as well when they followed Satan instead of God.

Is today any different?

When God decided to destroy that age and place the earth into a ruinous condition, I feel He allowed the people to see some of the destruction while they were still on the earth. To let them have a front row view to what they, along with Satan brought about. To witness their paradise perish right before their eyes, so they could see first hand what their sin caused and to know, it is God who has the power, not Satan.

What a defeating moment that would have been for God’s children, including Satan.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us, “there is no new thing under the sun”.

At the end of the Tribulation, our Father is going to throw 150 pound hailstones onto the enemy, and destroy Babylon which is the sixth kingdom, (Revelation 16:21, 18:21). We are told, the people who take pride, hope and enjoyment in her will howl for pain as they see the symbolical smoke of her burning as God brings about her destruction, (Revelation 18:9-11).

I see The World That Then Was no different,

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” – Ecclesiastes 1:9

To sum it up, what happened before will happen again.

Where Did The People Go?

Since the earth became covered in water, it would have been impossible for God’s children, spiritual body or not to inhabit the earth, (Genesis 1:2, Psalms 104:6). So our Father must have taken the people to Heaven at some point during the destruction.

That is only my opinion, Scripture does not explicitly say that or provide that level of detail. However, through deductive logic and rightly dividing the Word of God, we have a pretty good idea that is the truth.

Scripture does tell us in this life of flesh, when we perish “the spirit shall return unto God who gave it,” (Ecclesiastes 12:9).

So obviously, our spirit came from God who is in Heaven. Before we were born into the flesh, we lived with our Father in Heaven which indicates that is where our Father took us during the destruction of The World That Then Was.

Anyone who has a hard time understanding The World That Then Was should ask themselves, how can some of us be predestined, (Romans 8:29-30)?

The answer is, due to our actions in The World That Then Was, that is why God could tell Jeremiah,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5

How could our Father have known Jeremiah before he was in the womb of his mother?

From The World That Then Was, Jeremiah obviously made a stand for God in that time, and due to that stand, God could predestine Jeremiah to be a prophet in this age of flesh and know He could count on him.
