Is Satan Cast To Earth At The Sixth Trumpet?

Name: EyeonGod
Question: Good day Brandon,
Satan is cast out to earth at the 6th Trump, 6th Seal and the 6th Vial, as to my understanding. Would you please share your position on Revelation 9:1, where the “star fall from heaven” which indicates Satan as being that “star” at the 5th Trumpet, the first of the three (3) Woes as Revelation 9:12 states.

Revelation 9:1 “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.”

Is this stating, Satan is cast out of heaven at the 5th Trumpet rather than the 6th?

Answer: Thank you for the question.

We are going to learn, Satan is cast to earth when the Sixth Trumpet sounds, not the Fifth Trumpet. Moreover, Satan is not cast to earth during the Sixth Seal or Sixth Vial. The Seals and Vials signify messages and actions respectively, more on that in a moment.

Lastly, Revelation 9:1 describes a specificstar,” not that this star fell during the Fifth Trumpet.

All right, with that laid out, let’s go ahead and prove those points.

Seals And Vials

In Revelation 13:18, we are told “The number of the beast” is 666. This Beast is the one spoken of in Revelation 13:11, being the Dragon who is Satan, (Revelation 12:9).

The Bible tells us, there are Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, and Seven Vials, (777). So for the Sixth Seal, Sixth Trumpet, and Sixth Vial, Satan has a starring role, (666). To be clear, Satan does not “appear” in the Sixth Seal or Sixth Vial.

So what are the Seals and Vials?

The Seals are symbolic of time-sensitive messages. They provide us with details concerning the final events that will transpire, not that they are transpiring at that moment.

The Vials are symbolic of the Wrath of God being poured out on His enemies during the Great Tribulation. Specifically, on Satan and his earthly kingdom, and we see a great gathering of Satan and his armies taking place during the Sixth Vial, (Revelation 16:12-16, see: Why Does The Euphrates River Dry Up In Revelation?).

Now let’s talk about that “star”.

The Star Of Revelation 9

When we read Revelation 9, we have to pay very close attention to ensure we place events in their proper order.

In Revelation 9:1-12, the Fifth Trumpet sounds, but these verses discuss the Fifth and Sixth Trumpet. These verses are like a conversation that naturally flows, but all of those verses do not describe just the Fifth Trumpet, (see: When Will The Antichrist Be Revealed?).

Turn your Bible with me to,

Revelation 9:1
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

This is not a literal “star,” otherwise, the entire earth would be destroyed. Not to mention, this star is given the key to the bottomless pit. So we know we are talking about an entity, not a literal “star”.

Moreover, stars are often symbolic of God’s children, and “stars” typically reference them in Angelic form, (Job 2:1, 38:7, Isaiah 14:13, Daniel 8:10-11, Revelation 1:20).

Now, what “star,” what entity is given the key to the bottomless pit?

Turn your Bible with me to,

Revelation 9:11
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

The angel of the bottomless pit is the “star” of Revelation 9:1. We are given the star’s name in two different languages. Let’s find out the meaning of these names which will help us identify this star.

  • Abaddon” means “a destroying angel”.
  • Apollyon” means “a destroyer (that is, Satan)”.

There we have it.

The “star” of Revelation 9:1 is Satan, the angel of the bottomless pit. Satan is the destroying angel, the one who swept through Egypt and killed the firstborn during the days of Moses.

Now, let’s dial in the time sequence of Revelation 9:1.

The Fallen Star

In Revelation 9:1, the Fifth Trumpet has sounded.

However, Satan does not fall to earth during the Fifth Trumpet. When we read, “I saw a star fall from heaven” in that verse, we think we are being given a time sequence. We are actually being given the description of a specificfallenstar, which we now know is Satan.

Moreover, the word “fall” is also translated as “fell” and “fallen” all throughout the New Testament.

So we can be certain, Satan is the symbolic “star” who had already fallen from the grace of God long ago. Revelation 9:1 is simply providing us with a description, not a time sequence.

It is telling us “what” star was given the key to the bottomless pit, that star is Satan, the star that fell from the grace of God during the World That Then Was, not that Satan fell during the Fifth Trumpet, (2 Peter 3:6, see: Why Did Jesus Say, I Saw Satan Fall Like Lightning From Heaven?).

The Sixth Trumpet

In Revelation 9:13, the Sixth Trumpet officially sounds, look what we find a few verses later.

Revelation 9:16
And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

These “horsemen” are the Locust Army which was spoken of earlier in verse 3. Those who have power over men for “five months.” This duration of time is indicative of the shortened Tribulation from the original 7-year period.

These horsemen are the angels of Satan who appear with him as Revelation 12:7-9 explains. That is how we can be certain that Satan appears at the Sixth Trumpet.

When Satan’s angels appear, that means Satan has also appeared. Together, they form the armies that surround Jerusalem, the location where they appear, claiming to be God and His Kingdom.

Conclusion

So during the Fifth Trumpet, a lot of smoke and mirrors begin to take place. That primes the stage for Satan’s grand appearance at the Sixth Trumpet.
