How Do You Know If You Are One Of The Elect?

Name: Jack
Question: Hello Brandon. First of all, let me say what a true blessing this site has been to me. It has answered many questions for me and has confirmed many conclusions I have drawn, about both the Word and also about the events happening in the world today. My question is regarding part of your answer to Sharon about the Elect in the 6/6/14 batch of questions. Part of your answer read “the truth is no one truly knows who the Elect are including those who feel they are of God’s Election. The only way to know for sure is if they were told by our Father.” I wonder if you could expound on that for me just a bit. My understanding of the Elect is that they were chosen from before the foundations of the world, according to the stand they took against Satan and his rebellion in the first earth age. My feeling is that there’s really nothing one can do or say to become one of the Elect, you either are or you are not because, as it says in Romans 8:29-30:’For whom he did fore-know, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and who he justified, them he also glorified.’ And in verse 33, it says :’Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth’. So it has been my understanding that as much as we may HOPE we are “elect”, there’s really nothing we can do to become so. Our Father has either chosen us before we were even born into this earth age or he hasn’t. Do you feel that God will tell a person at some point if they are of the elect? As for me, all I personally do is hope that I am one of the elect, I never assume that I am. I truly hope I can survive the fiery darts of Satan during his tribulation, but do I know for sure that I can?? I can only hope I can. I’m sure doing all the study I can do in preparation for that time. I appreciate in advance your answer.

Answer: I think Jack just gave us an outstanding layout of the Elect, our Father’s Saints. You either are one of the Elect or you are not. You either stood with our Father in The World That Then Was or you did not. You got it Jack.

I love your humble thoughts concerning the idea of being one of our Father’s Elect. The point I was trying to make is many claim they are of God’s Elect and I wonder why they make such a big deal out of it…

What are the marks of one of God’s Elect?

Colossians 3:12
12 “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”

Personally, I go about my day and do not give any thought to being one of God’s Elect or not. I enjoy each day I am given and use it to help spread the Word.

I have to put this thought down if I may. Concerning the Elect, many people think of the Elect as only the 144,000 of Revelation 7:4 and that very well may be correct.

However, what do we know about God’s Word?

Essentially it is written about Adam, his family and those they came in contact with. It is possible there are others sealed from the other tribes of the earth that we are not told about as they are not of the Twelve Tribes or lineage of Adam, (Revelation 7).

We are told in Revelation 7:9 there is a great multitude of all peoples before the Throne of God after the Tribulation. I think some of these will also stand for our Father during the Tribulation. Can I document it, not directly, but indirectly I believe we can. Please turn your Bible with me to,

Matthew 8:5
5 “And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,”

Understand, this Centurion was not of the Twelve Tribes, but He believed in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 8:6-8
6 “And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.”

7 “And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.”

8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”

The Centurion had so much faith in Christ he told Christ all He had to do was speak and his servant would be healed. This Centurion had absolute faith in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 8:9-10
9 “For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.”

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”

Not one person from the Twelve Tribes had this much faith as this one Centurion. I think this Scripture is something to consider when understanding who will make a stand for our Father.

As for the rest of your question Jack. I doubt God would tell someone if they are of the Election unless God has a special reason to tell them. He knows who He can count on and telling someone they are of the Elect will make no difference in their actions, in my opinion. They are either tough as nails and know they have their Father on their side or they do not (Psalms 16:8).

You can survive the fiery darts of Satan Jack. You can with our Father’s help. Fill up your lamp with oil brother, whatever you go through will be for our Father and what did Christ say?

Matthew 5:11-12
11 “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.”

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

We just covered this in a Bible Verse of the Day.

Satan is pathetic and we do not find him tempting in the least. We know for a fact Satan is the false messiah and we know for a fact Satan comes before Jesus Christ. (There is no rapture of the church). We are not going to bow to Satan, that is not going to happen.

Why?

Because we have the Living God on our side. He is able to deliver us from the fiery furnace. He is able to deliver us from the mouth of lions and He will enable us to walk on that sea of glass. He is the Living God who is able to deliver us from our enemy in our time of trouble.

With that information locked into our minds we ask our Father to help us lay the fears of the flesh aside. We ask our Father to lead, guide and direct our thoughts and decisions. We ask our Father to strengthen our spirit, to be over-comers and make a stand for Him in Jesus Christ name Amen!
