Will There Be Male And Female In Heaven?

Question: Hi Brandon, thank you for sharing God’s truth. I know in the eternity, there will be no giving and taking in marriage. My question is, will there be male and female?

Answer: Thank you for the question Linda, and I thank God for the opportunity.

The Bible does not provide a clear answer to this question. We do know one thing for certain, there will be no marriage in Heaven, nor during the Eternity, (Luke 20:27-35). To be clear, the Eternity is the moment when God Himself will live with us here on earth, (Revelation 21:1-5).

There Is No Marriage In Heaven

Concerning marriage in Heaven, the Bible never states only males exist in Heaven, or during the Eternity. That is an assumption based on the words of Jesus in Luke 20:27-35.

Let’s see what He said.

Luke 20:34
And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage

Now, some Bible translations have the word “sons” here, instead of “children.” While “children” can be translated as “sons” at times, it is not fitting in this verse due to the context.

If only the “son’s” of the world were married and given in marriage, that would mean men married one another, and that is not what Jesus was discussing.

Instead, Jesus was talking about natural marriage between a man and a woman, hence the word “children” to include all of God’s children, male and female.

Luke 20:35-36
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

We are all the children of God, and regardless of our sex, we become as the Angels in Heaven when we pass away. That’s what Angels are primarily, people who have passed on before us, (Revelation 22:9). So then, we cannot “die any more,” as we’ve already passed on.

As it is written,

“…it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Hebrews 9:27

Now notice, Jesus never said the female appearance will cease to exist in Heaven.

He simply said the children of God will “neither marry, nor are given in marriage.” Jesus never took away the distinction of male and female, He could have easily done so, which would have concreted His point. The fact that He did not touch the subject speaks volumes in my book.

There Are No Female Angels In The Bible

However, it is worth noting, there’s no mention of female Angels in the Bible. In fact, when Angels are mentioned, they appear as young men, and only two Angels are named in Scripture: Gabriel and Michael.

Now, let’s consider Job 2:1.

There we find the “sons of God” mentioned, however, they’re just Angels. We should understand, the word “sons” has several meanings. Two being: “child” and “daughter.” However, since we are all the children of God, “child” is the better translation here.

Nevertheless, some Christians automatically assume the female appearance will cease to exist in Heaven, since they are not mentioned in the Bible.

However, what do we know about the Scripture?

It primarily discusses men. In fact, women are rarely mentioned. Typically only when a man could not get the job done, then God sent in the women to do the heavy lifting. Deborah and Joel come to mind and God no doubt used them as examples to shame the men, (Judges 4:1-4, 18-21).

God Has A Tender Heart For Females

Now look, our Heavenly Father has a tender spot in His heart for females. He used Mary to bring about the birth of His Son, in order to become the Savior of the world.

What an honor that was.

In Proverbs, God speaks of “wisdom” in the female sense, as she is caring and loving. These are typically strong characteristics of women. Hey, women are an entirely different creature than men. To me, the addition of the female mindset adds some variety to the world, just as the races do.

Just remember, if the female appearance does exist in Heaven, and the Eternity, it will be for appearance only. Child bearing will be a thing of the past.

Summary

I don’t know about you, but living in a world full of men sounds like a nightmare to me, not Heaven. However, we cannot fully comprehend all things in our present state either.

Regardless of our personal thoughts, God has promised us the Eternity will be a fantastic place, and we will be extremely happy there, (1 Corinthians 2:9, Revelation 21:4).

One thing is certain, people may rule out the possibility of the female appearance in Heaven, but God’s Word never did.
