I want to tell you the true story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. A story that takes place roughly 6,000 years ago, but one that has implications for us today. This story does not include an apple, the word apple is not found anywhere in the book of Genesis.

Instead, the true story of Adam and Eve begins by telling us they were naked and not ashamed. Adam and Eve only became ashamed after their sin when they covered their nakedness to hide their shame. We will learn the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is a euphemism. A euphemism is a figure of speech that replaces a harsh and blunt expression with a mild one.

Before we start our Bible study, Father we ask You for wisdom and understanding of Your Word in Jesus name, amen.

The Tree Of Knowledge Of Good And Evil

In the book of Genesis, we are told about two specific trees in the Garden of Eden. We have “the tree of life, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden”, (Genesis 2:9).

It is important to understand these are not literal trees. Literal trees do not provide life or knowledge, nor can they be good or evil.

Instead, these two trees are symbolic of two entities:

“The Tree of Life” is Jesus Christ who is the Vine, the Branch, and the same life giving tree found in Revelation 2:7, (John 15:5, Isaiah 11:1).

“The tree of knowledge of good and evil” is Satan who was created good, but became evil when Satan fell from the grace of God in The World That Was.

Throughout the Bible we find God referring to people, Angels and Himself as trees. God called Himself a “Fir Tree” in Hosea 14:8. Then we have the Two Witnesses of Revelation who are called the “two olive trees”, (Revelation 11:3-4). That brings us to Lucifer, that would be Satan known as the “abominable branch”, (Isaiah 14:19).

God makes these references as the core of our body is like the trunk of a tree, while our limbs are like branches.

God will now speak to Adam in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat.

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God is telling us about a figurative tree and figurative fruit. Satan is the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the fruit is symbolic of his actions and deeds.

We can be sure of this as Jesus told us fruit is symbolic of someone’s actions, and “by their fruit ye shall know them”, (Matthew 7:20). Jesus was not saying people literally produce fruit, it is symbolic of their works, their actions so we know if the person is righteous or not.

God is simply telling Adam, if he partakes of Satan’s fruit, which means to join in and accept Satan’s actions or deeds in any way shape or form, Adam would come to know death.

Now pay close attention, and listen to the details we are now given.

Adam And Eve Were Naked But Not Ashamed

Genesis 2:25
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

God just provided us with some very important details. Adam and Eve were both naked and not ashamed.

If an apple was the subject, why are we concerned about the lack of clothing upon their bodies?

We are going to find out, God is providing us details so we can understand the sin in the Garden of Eden.

The Serpent In The Garden Of Eden

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

We have more symbology.

The serpent is Satan, and Revelation 12:9 will document that for us. Do not become confused, Satan has many names and titles in God’s Word.

We are told Satan was “subtil” which means “cunning”. He was beginning to manipulate Eve with a simple conversation. Satan will use his cunning ability to persuade Eve to “eat” the “fruit” from “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.

Yes, both “the serpent”, and “the tree of knowledge of good and evil” are symbolic of Satan. The tree and its rotten fruit symbolize Satan’s works, while the serpent symbolizes Satan’s evil and cunning ability.

The Forbidden Fruit

Genesis 3:2
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.

We are talking about symbolic fruit that represents works, actions, and deeds. Remember the words of Jesus.

Genesis 3:3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Adam and Eve were strictly forbidden from “the tree of knowledge of good and evil” which is Satan. They were not to partake or accept his fruit which represents his wicked actions and deeds.

Notice what Eve just said, they were not to even “touch” the tree of knowledge of good and evil. “Touch” means,

To touch, lay the hand upon, for any purpose; euphemistically, to lie with a woman.

I know this may be hard to accept, but when you lie with a woman, it means you have sex with her.

The entire story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is a euphemism, a figure of speech about Satan using his cunning ability to manipulate and seduce Eve into a sexual encounter.

Why would Satan want to do this?

Satan was attempting to pollute the genealogy of Adam and Eve to prevent the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Christ, there could be no salvation for mankind, and it is Christ who will destroy Satan, (2 Thessalonians 2:8, Revelation 20:10). Essentially, Satan was trying to prevent his own destruction.

Genesis 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

The serpent is Satan, the father of lies and deception, (John 8:44).

Genesis 3:5
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan was bluntly lying to Eve. Adam and Eve would never be like God, but Satan was correct when he said they would know evil. As soon as they “touched” Satan, the eyes of Adam and Eve became “opened” which means “to open the senses”.

The “senses” of Adam and Eve would soon make them aware of their nakedness, and ashamed of it due to their sin.

The Sin In The Garden Of Eden

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The euphemism continues.

Eve saw that Satan was “good for food” and “pleasant to the eyes”. “Good” can mean “pleasant” which can also mean “charm and lust”. “Food” can mean “flesh”.

When we put this together, Eve felt “lust in her flesh” and now had “lust in her eyes” for Satan. This description ties right into Ezekiel 28:12-13 where we are told Satan is “perfect in beauty”, very pleasant to the eye and Satan “hast been in Eden the garden of God”.

Through Satan’s cunning ability, he charmed and deceived Eve to the point that she lusted after him, and accepted his fruit thinking if she did, she would be like God. Eve eating the fruit means she literally accepted Satan’s deeds and advances, and in “touching” him, had literal sex with Satan.

This point will be solidified as we continue this study.

Genesis 3:7
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

The eyes of Adam and Eve were now “opened”, meaning their “senses” made them aware they were naked due to their sin. Remember, before their sin, they were naked and not ashamed.

Now ashamed of being naked, Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves together making aprons to cover their waist. They were hiding their nakedness to cover their shame, to cover where their sin had taken place.

Genesis 3:8
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Adam and Eve hid as they were ashamed of the sexual act they allowed themselves to be deceived into by the father of lies, Satan.

God will now confront Adam and Eve…

Genesis 3:9-10
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Adam and Eve directly disobeyed God, they were terrified of His presence as they were now aware of their naked bodies due to their sin.

Listen to God’s response.

Genesis 3:11
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

God already knew what Adam and Eve had done, but He wanted Adam to confess his sin.

What did Adam do?

Genesis 3:12
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Adam not only blamed the woman God blessed him with, he also blamed God instead of admitting fault, (see: What Was Adam’s Sin?). Adam completely failed God and his family, he allowed Satan right into it. Ensure you never do that.

Genesis 3:13
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

I want you to understand what Eve is telling God. When Eve said Satan “beguiled” her it means,

To lead astray, mentally to delude, or morally to seduce.

Eve is telling God that Satan “seduced” her. Look, you seduce a woman to have sex with her. “Seduce” literally means to “entice someone into sexual activity”. That is exactly what Satan did. He used his “subtlety” to entice Eve into a sexual encounter.

God now turns his attention to the serpent who is Satan.

The Serpent’s Seed And Eve’s Seed

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This is the first prophecy in God’s Word which has far reaching implications, especially for us today. I want to break this verse down for you.

God placed “enmity” which is “hostility and hatred” between the serpent’s seed and Eve’s seed. We are talking about Satan’s seed, and in this case “seed” means “posterity and children”. Satan’s seed and the seed of man is sperm which creates children.

God is explaining to us He placed division between the “seed” of Satan and the seed of Eve. Division between the literal flesh children of Satan, who are the synagogue of Satan that Jesus told us about, and the literal children of Adam and Eve, (Revelation 2:9, 3:9).

The KJV Bible refers to Eve’s seed as “it” in this verse, but God said “He” in the manuscripts which references Jesus Christ who came through Eve’s genealogy.

Half of this prophecy has already transpired.

Satan’s seed, his literal children “bruised” the heel of Jesus Christ when He was crucified for our sins. Notice, the heel is a non-vital body part. However, Eve’s seed being Jesus Christ will fatally “bruise” the head of Satan when he is turned to ashes from within, (Ezekiel 28:18, Revelation 20:10).

Now pay close attention to what God tells Eve.

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

God multiplied Eve’s “sorrow” which means “labor pains”. He multiplied her “conception” being “pregnancy” and would cause her “sorrow” being “grievous pains” when she gives birth to her child.

Eve’s sin was not eating an apple.

Eve’s sin was a sexual encounter with Satan that caused his seed, his sperm to impregnate her and bring forward Satan’s child. God was simply punishing her in the location where the sin had taken place, and what a reminder it would become.

Adam Must Eat From The Tree Of Life

God now banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, and He explained they will now return to the dust from which they came, (Genesis 3:19, 24).

Genesis 3:22
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

Think about the depth of this statement for a moment. God had already condemned Adam to death in the flesh, (Genesis 3:19). No literal fruit could save him.

Yet, Adam could still receive salvation for his soul through the Tree of Life which is Jesus Christ. The only tree that can provide good spiritual fruit that is able to save our souls, (Revelation 2:7, 22:2, 14).

Cain And Abel Were Twins

Genesis 4:1
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Knew” is yet another euphemism, this simply means Adam and Eve had a sexual encounter. Eve thought she received a child from the LORD, but we will discover that is not the case. Remember, those were her words, not God’s.

Genesis 4:2
And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Do not read over this verse. “Again” means, “to continue to do a thing”. After Eve gave birth to Cain, she continued in labor until Abel was born.

We are going to find out Cain was Satan’s son, while Abel was Adam’s son. Cain and Abel were “fraternal” twins which means,

Twins developed from separate ova and therefore genetically distinct.

We are talking about two different fathers (Satan and Adam) forming two different pregnancies. This is called superfecundation, and while it may seem impossible, it happens even today.

Since Cain and Abel were fraternal twins, they matured into adulthood at the same time both bringing their offerings to God. Genesis 4:3-4 will help us understand that.

“Cain brought of the fruit of the ground and offering unto the LORD and Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.”

Pay close attention, Abel brought the very best he had to offer God. Cain on the other hand brought whatever was convenient. That is the mark of someone who does not love God, a mark Cain inherited from his father Satan.

Due to that, God did not respect Cain’s offering which enraged Cain. However, God was fair and made it clear to Cain, if he does well, God will accept him, (Genesis 4:5-7). Unfortunately, Cain rejected God, just as Satan rejected God.

The apple does not fall far from the tree.

As Jesus told us, we will know people by their fruit. Cain proved his fruits were evil when he “rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him”, (Genesis 4:8). Cain’s fruits were evil as his father is Satan, the wicked one.

Further, Cain is not listed among Adam’s genealogy in Genesis 5, as Adam was not Cain’s father.

The Serpent Beguiled Eve

We are now going to turn our Bible to the New Testament that will provide us with more evidence to the events we have discussed in the Garden of Eden.

2 Corinthians 11:2
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Chaste” means “innocent, modest, perfect”. We are to be spiritually innocent, a perfect virgin bride for the Great Wedding which takes place at Jesus’ Return.

2 Corinthians 11:3
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

The serpent is Satan, and to further the point, the word “serpent” used here means “especially Satan”. This provides us with a double witness to the fact that Satan used his subtlety to “beguile” Eve which means “to seduce wholly”. I am sure you remember “seduce” means “to entice someone into sexual activity”.

Satan completely and utterly seduced Eve into sex which removed her virginity and caused her to become pregnant with Cain. We are being given the same details we learned about in Genesis 3:13. In fact, the English word “beguiled” as used in the sense of seduction is only found in these two verses.

Parable Of The Wheat And Tares

Out of all the evidence presented in this Bible study, the most damning may come next. Jesus Christ will provide us with another account to the true story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Pay close attention, this is imperative to understand.

In Matthew 13, Jesus will use two different Greek words that have been translated “seed” in English. However, these two words have drastically different meanings. In the verses preceding 24 Jesus used the Greek word “speirō” for “seed” which means,

To scatter, sow, literally or figuratively, seed.

This word simply references seed for growing food. However, concerning the parable of the tares in verses 24, 27, 37 and 38 Jesus used the Greek word “sperma” for “seed” which means,

Seed, including the male “sperm”; by implication offspring.

Jesus was being very specific and pointing out the parable of the tares concerns “seed” which is symbolic of “male sperm” and “offspring” which are children. Jesus will provide us with another euphemism in God’s Word.

Matthew 13:24
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.

Remember, Jesus is not talking about literal “seed”, He is talking about children. Further, in Matthew 13:37-38 Jesus will explain the good “seed(sperma) matures into wheat which is symbolic of God’s children.

Matthew 13:25
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Tares” is “darnel” which is “false grain”, false “seed”, false wheat!

Who did this?

“An enemy hath done this”, (Matthew 13:28)! I will give you one guess who the enemy of God is. Satan, and he did this in the Garden of Eden.

Matthew 13:26
But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

Tares look nearly identical to wheat as they grow side by side in the field. However, when they reach maturity, you can tell them apart by their fruits. The fruit of a tare contains poisonous black seed instead of the golden-brown seed of wheat.

Just as Cain and Abel who both reached maturity at the same time, though Cain’s fruits were just like that of a tare.

Now listen to Jesus explain the literal meaning of this parable to the Disciples.

Matthew 13:37-38
37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one.

I want to remind you the word “seed” here means “male sperm, offspring”. We are talking about literal flesh children.

The wheat is symbolic of the good seed (sperma), they are the children of God, while the tares are symbolic of the bad seed being the children of the wicked one.

What wicked one, and what enemy sowed bad seed (children) in the Garden of Eden that brought about the tares?

“The enemy that sowed them is the Devil,” (Genesis 13:39). That is Satan, the serpent from the Garden of Eden sowed seed which is sperm in his affair with Eve that created offspring.

That offspring, the literal child of Satan was Cain whose fruit was just like his fathers, evil. Documented when Cain killed his righteous brother Abel.

Let The Wheat And Tares Grow Together

In this parable, Jesus made it clear, the tares who are the children of Satan did not die out. When the Disciples discovered that they wanted to gather and destroy the tares, but Jesus told them no. Otherwise, some of the wheat, some of God’s children would be harmed in the process, (Matthew 13:28-29).

Instead Jesus said,

Matthew 13:30
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

In verse 39 Jesus explains, “the harvest is the end of the world”. This proves Satan’s children not only exist, but they walk among us today, and they will continue to do so until the Return of Christ.

None of these words are mine, they are the Words of Jesus Christ. He provided us this parable and even explained it so we could understand the truth of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
