Come To The Father

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Come to the Father - Sunset over the OceanFor many, it’s very difficult to seek out God, come to know Him and learn about His Word. Why is that? In today’s society, we are distracted from the Bible. It’s not at the forefront of our minds and we often forget about God until we need Him in our lives… We have TVs in every room, computers, video games, iPhones, social networking to do and shows to watch. If you’re a parent, there are the kids to teach and support. In today’s world many families have two working parents which makes spending time with each other very difficult.

However, we need to make time for God. We need to put our Heavenly Father first for that is where He belongs in our lives.

For others, you may want to come to the Father and learn about His Word but are worried what others may think. Maybe your family, even your spouse wouldn’t approve… We need to remember what Jesus taught us…

Matthew 10:32-33
32 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”

33 “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

We definitely don’t want to deny Jesus Christ. For to deny Him is to deny our Father. We should not be concerned with what others think. We should dive into God’s Word and share the Good News with others.

God has a plan for you, don’t you want to be a part of that? God’s kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and only the righteous shall inherit this kingdom (Daniel 7:27). When our Father’s kingdom is set up here on Earth there will be no more pain, no more sorrows and no more tears.

That sure sounds comforting in today’s world, does it not (Revelation 21:4)?

Can anything else even compare?

1 Corinthians 2:9
9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

Really think about that for a moment. We can’t even imagine the things our Father has in store for us.

All of the gold and silver in the world can’t buy God’s kingdom. So how can we obtain this kingdom? For the answer to that let’s turn to Romans 10:9.

Romans 10:9
9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

There is a big difference between someone who says, “Yeah sure I believe in God” and someone who truly seeks out our Father. Many people have no idea what the Bible says yet they identify themselves as “Christian.”

Matthew 7:21
21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

Here we have another key to obtaining the kingdom of God. What exactly is doing the will of God you may ask?

Does it mean I have to become a preacher?

Of course not.

John 14:21
21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

What love and compassion our Father has. Follow God’s commandments and His laws that He has laid out for you in His Letter, the Bible. Help your friends and family come to understand your heavenly Father.

By these things are how we inherit the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

  1. It is difficult to find a church that doesnt preach about tithes and offerings. As a teenager (I’m 34 now) I went to church with my family, and I came to distrust this particular one because they had at one point, turned my family down for financial assistance (to pay a utility bill) because my parents did not tithe or offer enough. This was a rather large church, one in which it’d be difficult to pay attention to who gives what, but they did.

Since then, I have always felt that I could worship God in my own way. Is that wrong? I understand it is important as an act of obediance to tithe. But I feel I would be better off in doing so by anonymously doing so. I have not been to church in many years, short of funerals/weddings.

I am a Soldier, deployed 4 times. I also find that I tend to talk to (altho I feel like I dont pray properly) God more. Read my bible more often, perhaps I am not as distracted here as I would be at home. Each day (usually) I thank God that I have another day. I understand that tomorrow is promised to no man.

    • MJ,

First let me say thank you for your service!
I’ve never thought highly of the plate being passed myself. Remember a tithe is 10% and back then the church took care of the things government does today. So we have additional taxes and fees today that the people of that time did not have. If you can tithe and take care of you and your family great! If not, give what you can when you can. God knows your heart.

There are not many churches who teach God’s Word these days so no I don’t think you should feel bad not going to a church you don’t believe in. You are not there to worship the church but to worship God. If I may, I would like to recommend http://www.shepherdschapel.com/ . It is a verse by verse study of God’s Word. You can study online, find your local channel, however you like. Call them for your local times etc.

Concerning your thought on prayer. I’m sure you are doing just fine. Just talk to him like me and you are doing right now. He is your Father, your closest relative. Talk to Him, tell Him you love Him. When you’re done close in Jesus name Amen. You’re doing just fine MJ. Thanks for participating. If you have more questions you can email me under the contact section of the site or here. Bless you.

  2. I’m not saying it. God’s Word is saying it. When we fall short of following His Law we need to repent and ask him for forgiveness. You don’t have to give money, if you feel the church you belong to is helping you spiritually then you should help out if you are in a position to do that.

Prayers should always come from YOUR heart. Not from someone else. Our Father is just that our Father! Talk to him.

  3. So you’re saying just believe in the miracle of the resurrection (which I do) and tell people about it and take the commandments seriously enough to follow them the best you can, that’s it? Don’t you have to go to church? Don’t you have to give money?? Don’t you have to have some religious guy telling you how much money to give and what prayers to say???

  4. No. The rules are pretty simple are they not?

  5. You mean you don’t have to be a religious freak to get to know God?
