Were Dinosaurs On Noah’s Ark?

Many Christians have been led to believe, Dinosaurs not only existed with mankind in the flesh, but were transported on Noah’s Ark to spare them from a global flood.

However, the Bible does not provide any evidence to suggest such beliefs. In fact, Scripture tells us exactly what animals were on Noah’s Ark, and Dinosaurs were not among them.

Dinosaurs Were Not On Noah’s Ark

Please turn your Bible with me to,

Genesis 6:20
Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

God provided more details here than many people realize. He covered the smallest and largest animals where Noah resided, (see: Was Noah’s Flood Global?).

God was very specific, He told Noah to bring “fowls after their kind,” “cattle after their kind,” and “every creeping thing of the earth after his kind”.

I want you to understand, the word “kind” means, “species”.

The word “fowl” means,

A bird (as covered with feathers, or rather as covering with wings), often collective: – bird, that flieth, flying, fowl.

Noah was to bring “fowls” on the Ark.

“Fowls” are simply feathered birds, not “flying things” as other Bible versions read which is then used to support the theory of Dinosaurs on Noah’s Ark. That’s twisted God’s Word.

Pterosaurs were covered with skin, not feathers, and they certainly are not “fowls”.

God wanted birds on Noah’s Ark as they would be unable to fly in the storm our Father was about to unleash. Birds typically do not fly in the rain, so they quickly seek shelter during rainstorms as the water weighs them down and affects their flight.

Further, the birds would need a place to land when the rains eventually subsided.

The next word we are going to look at is “cattle” which means,

behêmâh

be-hay-maw’

From an unused root (probably meaning to be mute); properly a dumb beast; especially any large quadruped or animal (often collectively): – beast, cattle.

God told Noah to bring “cattle” on the Ark as it was the largest animal in the region where Noah lived.

We should note “cattle” in Hebrew is pronounced “behêmâh”, not “behemoth”. God used the Hebrew word “behemoth” to describe to Job one of His Creations that was large in stature, though it did not live in our present age, (see: Are Dinosaurs Mentioned In The Bible?).

Rather this “cattle”, this “behemah” is a large “quadruped” animal.

Quadruped” means,

An animal that has four feet, especially an ungulate mammal.

Four feet, not two feet as many Dinosaurs had.

Ungulate” simply means;

A hoofed mammal.

Dinosaurs did not have hooves, and they were not mammals.

When we properly understand the word “cattle”, we learn God asked Noah to bring four-footed hoofed mammals on the Ark.

God did not say bring Dinosaurs. He did not say bring “behemoth”, but “behemah” on the Ark. God did not say Elephants or Giraffes, He said “cattle”.

Why Do They Say Dinosaurs Were On Noah’s Ark?

Global flood Bible teachers say this due to their young earth belief. Their belief not only forces them to explain Dinosaurs, Adam and Eve, Noah’s Flood, the Ice Age, and other historical events, but places those events within the last 6,000 years.

Unfortunately, this leads those Bible teachers and Christian Scientists down a road that introduces evolution in order to explain history, which is contrary to God’s Word. It leads them to explain how just a few Dinosaurs evolved into many Dinosaurs, how a couple of dogs, evolved into all dogs, coyotes, wolves, and so on, (see: The Ark Encounter Is Not Biblically Accurate).

Yet, there is no Biblical or historical evidence to support any of their theories, as we have explained in this Bible study and others.

The Fossil Record

Many young earth creationists and global flood teachers quickly point out errors with the science communities explanation of history. There is no doubt, the view of life through the lens of mainstream science is flawed and consists of various theories that deviate from one another.

However, one recent discovery found a giant mammal buried within the rock layers of Dinosaurs. This throws yet another wrench in evolutionist’s explanation of history. Young earth and global flood teachers quickly seized this opportunity to explain this proves a young earth and a global flood.

It does not.

It simply documents mainstream science has many issues to deal with when they leave God out of the picture.

However, what struck me as odd, is how young earth and global flood teachers leave out the fact that human remains are never uncovered within the layers of ground we find Dinosaur fossils in.

If young earth and global flood teachers are going to teach us Dinosaurs walked with man in the flesh, not only should we have Biblical truth, but some evidence from history and we have neither.

Conclusion

As Christians, when we study the Bible we need to ensure we apply critical thinking, logic and common sense while allowing the Holy Spirit to lead the way.
