The Oil Of The Ten Virgins

The Parable of the Ten Virgins and their lamps is a study that goes far deeper than many might realize. This parable concerns the Tribulation and the coming of Jesus Christ which is the Wedding we all look forward too. As we will document from God's Word, most people, most Christians for that matter will be shut out of the Wedding because they did not possess enough oil for their lamps. Whether or not you attend that Wedding is up to you and it is determined by the actions you take.

We will also document the oil we must have is the fuel which brings forth our light, our works. The oil is literally having the complete truth, wisdom, certainty and knowledge of and in God’s Word. It is the understanding, belief, trust, hope and faith in God and all of His promises. It is the courage, conviction, assurance, patience and perseverance we must have in Him and His Word if we are to overcome the Tribulation of Satan. The oil is comprised of all of these words, it is what it takes to overcome Satan and his darkness, it is the very armour of God.

Before we start our Bible study, let us ask our Father for wisdom and understanding of His Word, in Jesus Name amen.

It is no great mystery that fire brings forth light and it is that light which dispels darkness. Likewise, "Our God is a consuming fire," (Hebrews 12:29) and by "the brightness of his coming" His fire destroys the evil elements of this earth age. Not a nuclear holocaust as feared by many (2 Thessalonians 2:8, 2 Peter 3:10). We should take note, God is the “Light and in Him there is no darkness,” (1 John 1:5). So naturally those who follow Him, “are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness,” (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

Out of God's own mouth He proclaims, "I am come to send fire on the earth;" He does not stop there, "and what will I, if it be already kindled?" (Luke 12:49) What is this kindling our Father is speaking of? It is the fire, the very light the children of God are supposed to be bring forth and let shine upon the earth.

Please open your Bibles and turn with me to the Words of Jesus Christ,

Matthew 5:14
14 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

Christ made this statement to the disciples as they followed after Him and did His work. If we follow in like manner then we too are that light, which shines before the entire world.

Matthew 5:15
15 "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

As Christians we do not hide our light. We boldly put forth our light as a beacon of hope to a world lost in a dark storm. If we fail to bring our light forth, our brethren cannot safely navigate their ships to the shore. If we do not attempt to dispel darkness we are not doing the will of our Father. Make a note this word “candle” is Strong’s word, 3088 and it means “portable lamp.”

Matthew 5:16
16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Our light is our good works in Christ. By grace we are saved, by our works we are rewarded (Revelation 22:12).

In essence we are this candle, this very lamp and in order for it to bring forth a flame we need “oil for the light,” (Exodus 35:14). The "oil" (1637) we are talking about is "olive oil" which is mentioned throughout the Bible. As a matter of fact, "Christ" (5547) means "anointed one," which comes from the root word meaning, "to smear or rub with oil," (5548). We can even find a part of God's sacred name YHVH in the word olive which is "El-ah-Yah." Therefore it should be no mystery that God's signature surrounds olive oil, He is the oil that sustains our lamps.

Ephesians 6:10
10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."

He is Almighty and we can be strong in Him by reading His Word with understanding.

Ephesians 6:11
11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

We are told to equip ourselves with the whole armour of God in order to stand against the wiles of Satan which are his lies and deception. To do what? Stand and fight against Satan, not run, not hide, but to be a man or woman of God and stand! We make that stand properly suited with the whole armour of God in order to finish the good fight.

Ephesians 6:12
12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

That darkness and wickedness Satan (and his angels, Revelation 12:9), "the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them," (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Do not read over that. The rulers of this world are Satan and his angels who blind the minds of the world with darkness. That darkness has clouded the perception of man whereby they see the world through a darkened lens. Under the cover of darkness, Satan has crept into every organization and religion in the world. They have altered those institutions by blinding them from the truth of God's Word and replacing it with corruption, lies, and deception.

That is why it is critical we put on the whole armour of God, filling our vessels with truth, righteousness, courage and confidence. Which are the things that make up the oil we put into our lamps. We do this in order to shine through the lies and deception of Satan in these end times. By doing so we can remove the darkened lens that has blinded the children of God for so long.

Ephesians 6:13
13 "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

What evil day? The Tribulation of Satan (The Antichrist), who will appear before Christ claiming to be Christ. Satan will be exceedingly convincing, he will bring fire down from Heaven in the sight of men (Revelation 13:13).

Satan's ability to deceive the entire world by those miracles is due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of God's Word. Think about it, Satan has been accusing you day and night before our Father, Satan has been plotting your demise for thousands of years (Revelation 12:10). How much time have you spent reading God's Word with understanding in order to determine what events bring about the end of this age?

Pay close attention, we have now been told twice to equip ourselves with the whole armor of God. This is spiritual armour, this is our olive oil, let us continue to see exactly what it consists of.

Ephesians 6:14
14 "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;"

In order to make that stand for God we must have the truth of His Word, not church traditions or we have no foundation to stand on. If we fail to find God's truth the righteousness in our lamps will be quenched.

Ephesians 6:15
15 "And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"

Without His gospel of peace we have no hope, no light to offer the world.

Ephesians 6:16
16 "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."

This goes much deeper than being saved by faith. In these end times if all we know about God's Word is John 3:16 we will never be able to extinguish the fiery darts of Satan. Those fiery darts are the fire and brimstone, his lies and deception which issues out of his mouth. We must comprehend Satan appears first as the false Christ with all his signs and lying wonders. If we fail to identify him, we will unknowingly worship the false Christ and his One World Beast Government.

This is why we must have a shield of faith that is entrenched in the truth of God's Word in order to recognize evil and stand against it.

Ephesians 6:17
17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"

We have the assurance of Christ's salvation promise, the promise of everlasting life in a paradise of peace and we broadcast that message like a ray of hope. We are comforted knowing the Holy Spirit is there for us, there to provide the whole amour and fulfill the promises in His Word! These pieces of amour are the oil for our lamps, most importantly the Holy Spirit is our oil for without it we are left in darkness.

How can we acquire the oil, the gracious gifts we just read of? We can acquire them by reaching out to our Father and asking Him to pour out His Holy Spirit into our vessels, our hearts and minds. In order to accomplish this it requires work on our part.

Turn your Bibles with me to,

Luke 11:9-13
9 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

10 "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

11 "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?"

12 "Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?"

13 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

Christ is explaining we must perform work. We must work to obtain the oil, work to obtain the wisdom of His Word. We can accomplish that by diligently seeking out the scriptures and knocking on His door asking for understanding of them in order to perform His work. Then He will pour the oil upon us, His Holy Spirit whereby we are given the wisdom of His Word as He gave it to Solomon (1 Kings 3:3-15) . This will ensure we have a full vessel of oil which allows our flame of truth to burn continually, to be a witness of the Lord before the entire world.

That flame must remain constant as God told Moses, “Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually,(Leviticus 24:2). Continually, without end. Our relationship with God should be constant if we expect to keep our vessels full of oil, full of courage, strength, and the Holy Spirit.

The word “evil” in this thirteenth verse would have been better translated as “sinners(4190). With that having been said, as men, if we can figure out what is best for our children, then we should understand our “Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him,” (Matthew 6:8). We can be comforted by His Words.

Turn your Bibles with me to,

Matthew 25:1
1 "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom."

The ten virgins are symbolic of Christians and the Bridegroom is Jesus Christ. Upon the return of Christ a Great Wedding will take place and we are supposed to be a spiritual virgin for that Wedding.

This is why Paul would write,

2 Corinthians 11:2-3
2 "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

The word “beguiled(Strong's: G1818) means “to seduce wholly”. Christ is not coming back to wed someone that has been wholly seduced as Eve was by the serpent, which is Satan himself (Revelation 12:9, see: The Story Of Adam And Eve In The Garden Of Eden). Christ is coming back for a spiritual virgin. Paul makes this point to us as Satan appears before the return of Christ. Satan will claim to be God, he will claim to be the husband which we are to marry. Will you marry the false Christ and be spiritually seduced, no longer being a virgin bride, no longer being fit for the Wedding or will you wait for the True Christ?

This is why Jesus would say in Matthew 24:19, “woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!” If our spiritual husband to-be has been gone for two-thousand years and He comes home and we are suckling a child along, it means we have been unfaithful, it means we have been spiritually seduced by Satan himself!

Please turn back to,

Matthew 25:2
2 "And five of them were wise, and five were foolish."

This is a part of the division of the end times. Christ told us, “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division,” (Luke 12:51).

We can already see that division today, can we not? We have multitudes of different “denominations” within Christianity. The very word means “division.” This division will be absolute when the Saints are delivered up to Satan by their family and friends who whore after Satan as Luke 21:12-18 documents.

We can further document that division in Matthew 24 where one was taken from the field which is the world. We are supposed to be in the field doing God's work. The one that was taken stopped working for God and started working for Satan because they could not recognize that Satan was the false Christ, their lamps ran out of oil, (see: Why Is One Taken And The Other Left In Matthew 24:40?).

They lacked wisdom and understanding in God's Word which is a part of the oil. While the one who stayed in the field continued to do God's work, continued to kindle the fire of God, continued making that stand while being equipped with the whole amour of God.

Matthew 25:3
3 "They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:"

Without the oil we cannot put forth God's righteous Light, we cannot find our way in this dark world. The foolish failed to gird their loins with all of the truth in His Word, they failed to obtain enough knowledge and understanding for their lamps.

Matthew 25:4
4 "But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps."

The wise virgins put on the helmet of salvation understanding God's Word and were prepared for the day of battle, the coming Tribulation.

Matthew 25:5-6
5 "While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him."

This documents we do not know what hour Christ will come. So we are to be prepared, we do that by ensuring we have enough oil in our lamps to bring us through the Tribulation.

Matthew 25:7
7 "Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps."

When you trim the wick of an oil lamp it allows the flame to burn brighter! The five wise virgins will burn brightly and they are symbolic of the Saints who will be delivered up before the false messiah during the Tribulation.

The Saints will make their stand with the Two Witnesses and prophesy against Satan and his One World Beast Government. The Two Witnesses “are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth,” (Revelation 11:4).

We can read of this further in Zechariah 4 where the Two Witnesses pour the oil out of themselves into the bowl of the menorah which feeds the lamps who are the Saint of God. This supplies them with strength and assurance, ensuring they have all the oil that is required to bring forward a bright flame. This flame will light the entire world with truth.

Clearly, the Saints and the Two Witnesses will be working in tandem. We can also document God pouring out the oil, His Holy Spirit in Joel 2:28, “I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

This is the Comforter Christ promised who will warm the hearts of many with truth and burn the hearts of many who hate our Father (John 14:26). We can document that in Revelation 16:2 where the first vial is poured out and it harms only those who accepted the Mark Of The Beast. Just as in Egypt, God’s wrath only harms those who do not love and understand Him or His Word.

Matthew 25:8
8 "And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out."

The five foolish did not trim their lamps for their flame had already gone out. They did not possess enough truth from the Word of God. They were not prepared to work through the Tribulation to the coming of the True Christ, many thought they were going to be raptured. Remember, God is coming, “to send fire on the earth,” are you kindling that fire? Or has the flame in your lamp already gone out?

Matthew 25:9
9 "But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."

The wise virgins could not give away their oil. The Holy Spirit is not ours to give, each of us must ask our Father for it. As we learned in Leviticus, “bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.” Continually, without end, the wise ensured their feet were shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, they prepared, they put in work and had confidence in Christ's promise of peace. By doing so they allowed their flame to continue to burn through the entire Tribulation. Whereas the flame of the five foolish had long burned out, leaving them left in the dark and ultimately seduced by Satan.

Matthew 25:10
10 "And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut."

Will you be a part of the Wedding or will you be shutout? Are you kindling His fire?

Many people say they will get around to studying God’s Word with understanding. One day it will be one day too late my friends and the door to the Wedding will be shut! Not everyone is going to get to take part in that Wedding as we have learned.

Those who will take part in that Great Wedding of Christ will have had the determination and conviction to seek out His Word. They will understand what it is they must know and do; they will ensure they have put on the breastplate of righteousness.

Matthew 25:11-12
11 "Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not."

Christ would say this as the five foolish did not understand God's plan and they brought no light to the children of the world when it was needed most. They failed to equip themselves with an unbreakable shield of faith which caused their lamps to run out of oil. They did have some faith, some truth, some oil, but not enough to continue to put forward a flame throughout the Tribulation. For that cause their flame was extinguished, no longer having light to see, they were unable to recognize that Satan was the false Christ and they wed him instead of waiting for the True Christ.

Some of them truly loved God, but they lacked oil as they failed to do His work. They failed to seek out the scriptures for truth. They failed to knock on God's door asking Him for His Holy Spirit, His Word to be revealed to them. Instead, they listened to church tradition which led them into worshipping at the foot of Satan believing he is God.

The Wedding of Christ will begin upon His return which is called The Lord's Day when we are all instantly changed into our spiritual bodies (1 Corinthians 15:35-55). God's firstfruits will attend this Wedding, those who made their stand for God using the sword of the Spirit to overcome the Tribulation of Satan by cutting through his lies and deception. The overcomers will take "part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years," (Revelation 20:6). By taking part in the first resurrection they not only receive a spiritual body which is immortal, but they also receive an immortal soul. Those who overcome the darkness of Satan were already judged and found worthy to inherit the Kingdom of God. They will literally walk with Christ for a thousand years teaching those who never had the opportunity to hear truth.

We should note, The Lord Day's occurs after the appearance of Satan who is the Antichrist. Satan is then bound and cast into the pit where his darkness will have no influence over the world (Revelation 20:2).

The conclusion of the Lord's Day, that thousand years is known as the White Throne Judgement, when everyone receives what they earned whether it be good or bad. Those who did not turn to our Father and follow His ways will be consumed by the very fire of Almighty God and their smoke shall go up forever and ever (Revelation 14:11). What happens when smoke goes up into the air? It dissipates and soon you no longer see it, because it no longer exists. This scripture is a figure of speech for this very description. Heaven will be a wonderful place where,

"God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" - Revelation 21:4

Evil will finally be destroyed and erased from our minds. We will then enter the Eternity, when God Himself shall dwell with man. A time when the candles and lamps we read of will be rendered obsolete, “there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever,(Revelation 22:5).

So, will you be a mere match of light unable to illuminate a room, a match that can be blown out by the slightest breeze, a match that has no fuel to sustain itself?

Or will you be a flaming lamp with a vessel full of oil boldly casting your flame forth unabated?

Will God say to you, "depart from me, ye worker of iniquity"?

Or shall God say, "Well done, good and faithful servant"?
