What Is The Meaning Of Life?

What is the meaning of life? That is a question that has left mankind scratching their heads since the dawn of time. Where do we search to find the answer to that question? God’s Word. If you are not a Christian I would ask you to consider following along in this quick study…

Let’s get started.

In Mark 13:23 Jesus said,

“But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

If Jesus said He told us all things, then He meant it. So we must seek out the scriptures for the answer to our question.

Revelation 4:11
11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

There you have the answer to the question! All things were created for God’s pleasure. That is the meaning of life. Not only mankind, everything around us was created for the pleasure of God. Our Father loves us very much, in fact He created us in His exact image (Genesis 1:26-27). If the entire reason of our being is to please God, we must search the scriptures and seek out what pleases Him.

1 John 3:22-24
22 “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.”

24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”

How beautifully put.

We become pleasing to God and we show Him our love by believing on His Son, Jesus Christ and following those Ten Commandments which He gave us (Exodus 20:1-17, Deuteronomy 5:4-21). Following these things pleases our Father in Heaven. Take note that those commandments don’t just please God, they enrich our daily lives. We become better people and create a better society as a result.

Do you realize God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to earth to die on the cross so that our sins might be forgiven (1 John 4:9-10, Hebrews 2:14)?

That is true love indeed. God is our Father and we are His children. God gave us a chance to experience this relationship ourselves with our children. You would do just about anything for your child would you not?

So would God and He already has. Never doubt the love God holds for you.

If that was not enough, God has made many promises to us in His Word, the Bible.

Do you know what they are?

Hebrews 11:6
6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

What is being said here?

We must have faith in God in order to please Him, in return He rewards those that truly seek after Him in His Word. There’s a promise…

Let’s look at one more before we conclude.

1 Corinthians 2:9
9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

That is utterly amazing to think about. Those that love God and seek out His Word are promised rewards we can’t even imagine. How exciting! I look forward to that day, when we again will walk with our closest relative, our Father in Heaven.
