Brandon, You Are Too Political

I received an email from a reader who was a bit upset by some of our commentary. While I will withhold the name of the individual, I am going to share the email and my response as it may benefit our audience.

Readers Email:

I don’t think you should be so political. You know that romans 13 says that God has in control who he wants in control. Why can’t you accept that Trump is our president and quit your slander against him. You were not elected by the people. You are suppose to report the world news and events, not give your opinions, I don’t need another hate Trump 24/7. I subscribed to get some news finally instead of all the Trump bashing. I am disappointed that I get it here also.

My Response: Reader,

Good morning and thank you for reaching out.

I certainly understand Romans 13, we actually have a Bible Question on this subject titled, “Is God In Control?” I think this article is worth your time as well, “The Destruction of Our Nation and the Ballot Box”.

However, do you honestly think the Israelites appreciated being in bondage in Egypt even though God ordained it? Do you think they appreciated being in bondage in Babylon though God ordained it?

Not quite, and the Bible makes that clear, even though God appointed those wicked leaders. We both know why God did it, to bring His people back inline. Something to think about…

If you feel I bash the President, you should have been around when Obama was President. I am less political and more realistic. I do not cling to any political party, I simply look at the actions of our leaders and see if they line up with the Bible.

Are their fruits good or bad?

If their fruits are bad, I am going to tell the people. I am going to tell the people how their actions tie into Scripture. When our President says he is going to lower taxes, stop illegal immigration and stop the wars, and then he does the exact opposite, I am not going to support such a leader.

I am not going to support a leader who held up the LGBT flag during his campaign and sold LGBT shirts for a buck. I cannot do that.

While we are told to pray for all men, including those in authority, God also said,

Jeremiah 7:16
16 “Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.”

Read the prior verses and it becomes clear, we do not support or pray for those who are doing wrong by God.

Let me further the point,

1 Timothy 2:1-3
1 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”

2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

3 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”

We are to pray for all men, including those in authority.

Pray for what?

Pray that we as citizens of the nation or organization can lead a peaceable life in Godliness and honesty.

If our leaders are not doing that, if they are not living and leading the nation by God, we are not expected to support them.

A final word.

This site is World Events and the Bible, over the years our readers have made it known they want more of our opinion on the news so they can understand what is going on in the world and how it ties into the Bible. Anyone can copy and paste or post a news link, not everyone can necessarily comment on the news with Biblical insight. So we are going to continue to do what we feel led to, and what our readers have asked us to do.

I hope this has now become more clear to you, have a fantastic day.

Thank You,

Brandon T. Ward
