How Do You Express Your Love to God?

How Do You Express Your Love to God? - Love Written on the Ocean BeachBy: Brandon Ward

What does the word “Love” mean to you? More importantly, what does it mean to you with respect to God, our Father in Heaven? Do you love God? As a Christian, I’m sure you’re shouting, of course “I love God!” However, those three words have become so cliché they have virtually no meaning.

How do you express your love to God?

Do you go to church once a week?

Maybe attend a few bible studies in-between?

What actions do you take in your daily life to show your love for our Father?

Many people say they love God but do they really show God their love?

The reason God created us to begin with was for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). That is the meaning of life. So what does that mean exactly, what does God want from us?

He wants your love (Hosea 6:6). He wants you to follow the Ten Commandments (I John 14:15) he set forth and believe on His Son Jesus Christ (1 John 3:23).

Let’s take a moment and look at some parallels in order to put things in perspective.

Our Father created us in the flesh and gave us the ability to create children of our own. So that we could enjoy them, raise them, educate them, love them and in return they love us. You see our relationship with God is the same. This is one of the reasons he gave us the ability to create children of our own so that we could witness first-hand the love you could have for a child. That same scenario is God’s every day for every soul on Earth. He is our Father and loves us all very much.

With that said, think for a moment

How would you feel if your child only approached you when they were in need? Or if your child came out of their room once a week to congregate with you.

How would that make you feel?

Many Christians only come to our Father when they are in need and quickly forget Him when times are good. Then there are some who only give Him time once a week.

How do you think that makes Him feel?

Jesus proclaimed to us that His coming was like a wedding. Christ is the Groom and we are His bride and He expects to have a virgin bride (II Corinthians 11:2). Sometimes we search for years before we find the one we wish to marry. When we find that one, we hold them, love them and cherish them. We find out what pleases our spouse and we practice that to the best of our ability each and every day.

With that said, think for a moment

How would you feel if you discovered your spouse was having an affair? Or lying to you behind your back. What if your spouse only visited with you once a week?

How would that make you feel?

That wouldn’t be much of a marriage would it?

God gave us these parallels as an example of how He feels and we need to consider that.

We spend far too much time worrying about this flesh age and the things we perceive to be important. We concentrate more on what we see, hear, feel, want or need which is only reserved for today rather than the spiritual aspect which will last forever (John 3:16). Think about that for a moment… For those who truly love God, you are promised a spiritual body which is perfect in heath and will last an eternity in a paradise of peace! Why would you not want to dedicate more time and show your love to the One who made that promise to you? Let’s look at one more promise.

1 Corinthians 2
9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

That is love my friends. How can we even begin to thank our Father for that one promise?

We can attempt to by; telling Him we love Him, showing it by our actions, reading His Word, talking to Him in prayer, acting as a man or woman of God in our daily life, teaching our children about His Word and sharing it with our friends.

We need to be concerned about God’s feelings in all of this. To further our perspective, let’s say your wife took the time to write you a poem but you never took the time to read it. How do you think that would make her feel?

Obviously, that would not make her happy nor convey your love to her. The same can be said of our Father. He has feelings as we do only more so as He is the Creator of all. We need to spend more time in our daily lives showing Him we love Him (expressing love to your Father is only natural is it not?). Setting aside just 10 minutes to read the bible shows Him you care about the letter He wrote to you. Now imagine how that makes Him feel!

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18 KJV

  1. Many people say where is God??? And the truth be known. He’s in our face, in our heart, in everything and everyone. The fibbonacci sequence, the mathematical calculation golden ratio 1.6, totally demonstrates an intelligent Creator and all His design, THE FINGERPRINTS OF GOD. TO THINK that a Creator That Loves us so much, yet, us dummies can’t even close to showing love to one another like our Creator, Jesus Christ,..

I witness for him. Thanking Him (i try to remember) for all the times He Sent me the Comforter, for the roof over my head, for providing me with food I thank Him for creating Tinkerbelle my dog, made just for His Pleasure(and MINE!) I thank Him for helping me through very tough times that I have had. I thank Him for nudgeing me to go to the Doctors and had a benign cancer removed. I have had such a hard life and used to medicate myself with booze, Booze nearly ruined my entire life, He helped my to kick that habit for I couldnt by my own self. I pray to Him and Thank Him for the things He showed me about people, I thank him for giving me discernment to test the spirits. I have seen alot of Possessed people with demons. Its too bad that there isnt a professial that cast out evil spirits, instead of some just believing they are mentally ill. But there are some that are mentally ill though. Its a shame that most
people do not know God, either they are non believers. or one of the false teaching churches scared them away. And in return I will stand for Him when the Holy Spirit speaks through me against the false one with my pleasure. I have daily bible study everyday just about Pastor Murray is the Best Teacher along with his son Dennis as to explaining His Word that I am able to Understand.I Thank Him for giving me eyes to see and ears to hear. I pray to Him for other people to opening their eyes and ears if It is in His Will.I tell him that I love Him forever and always, and will never ever forsake Him. He is my Everything. I love my Husband dearly. Huzzah!
Anonymous= that memorized the Song Of Moses, its what the Overcomers sing after the tribulation of the AntiChrist.

  4. I memorized the Song Of Moses…I felt that God wanted me to know this song…I gardened as I learned it…God blessed me with memory retention and I wanted to learn the Song of Moses….to remember his love and his goodness, grace and mercy…not all the bad things that happen, not anger, not bitterness…I did not want to remember ugliness…so learning his song…that is what I hold dear in my heart…I try to give the Lord my widows mite…which for me is as much of my time as I can give in this hurried world we live in.

  5. I love God…Christ…I worship him in truth and spirit….I seek him in nature…plant flowers, garden, read his word, think upon him, talk to him, pray to him, and I take care of his creatures, his dogs, his cats, those that he allows me to financially, I feel God in the wind, in my heart, in my spirit and in my life, God Before, tomorrow and always.

    • Outstanding. I love gardening myself. Thanks for the comment.

    • To care for those of his Creation, even the dogs and cats and other animals – is a real blessing for those who are called to it. I happen to also be a lover of animals and have been since my earliest memories. Once I had a dream about heaven and our various “jobs” we may do there. In my dream I was allowed to help various angels as they soothed and wiped away the memories of painful and unhappy lives experienced by unloved and unwanted pets on the earth. I woke with tears of joy streaming down my face because the “work” was so emotional and so heart-rending and yet such a privilege to help these little furry creatures heal. Probably just a silly old guy imagining something, but the dream felt quite real to me and gave me hope and something to look forward to when I’m finally with the Lord and his creations again, in heaven.
