People See Who Jesus Is By Looking At Our Lives

Have you really thought about that statement?

We are supposed to be a reflection of Jesus Christ, but I feel many of us forget that today. Especially in the online world which has given place to rude behavior, yes even among “Christians”.

What did our Lord and Savior tell us?

Luke 6:31
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

That is the golden rule, treat others how you would like to be treated.

Luke 6:32
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

Just because you love your family and friends, that does not really set you apart from the world…

Christ is telling us, sinners do the same thing.

Luke 6:33-34
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

If we do good or lend, that is great, but it does not set us apart from sinners does it?

Luke 6:35
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Here is the big difference.

We are to love” which means, “in a social or moral sense” and do good to our enemies. It does not mean we become a punching bag, but it does mean we do our best to reflect His Light.

It means we are to be an example, just like Jesus Christ was an example for us when He allowed Himself to be crucified on the Cross for our sins.

What were some of His final words?

“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do,” (Luke 23:34).

Even though they were quite literally killing His flesh body, hanging Him for hours in pain, Christ asked our Father to forgive them. So we live by Christ’s example, and His words…

Luke 6:36
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Remember, be merciful, be forgiving and when you present yourself, whether publically or online, you are supposed to be an example of Jesus Christ.

You are a Christian.

Everyone is watching you, whether you realize it or not, including our Heavenly Father.
