What Happened In The Garden Of Eden?

Name: Thomas
Question: What happened in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve?

Answer: Thank you for the question Thomas.

We are going to learn, the sin in the Garden of Eden was not about Adam and Eve eating an apple. An apple is not mentioned in the entire book of Genesis.

The sin in the Garden of Eden is about Eve having a sexual encounter with Satan who is the serpent. That may be hard for some to grasp, but we will easily document this fact.

Adam And Eve Were Naked And Not Ashamed

After God created Adam and Eve, were are told,

They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Genesis 2:25

This verse sets the stage.

We will discover, the account in the Garden of Eden is a parable, better said, a euphemism which is “a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing”.

The Serpent In The Garden Of Eden

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Serpents cannot, and have never uttered speech. It is impossible.

“The serpent” is Satan as explained in Revelation 12:9, 20:2,

That old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan.

The old serpent is Satan’s proper title from the Garden of Eden.

Serpents are not “subtil”, which means “cunning”.

Yet, the serpent which is Satan is cunning, and he will persuade Eve to “eat” the “fruit” from “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.

Trees are often symbolic of people, and “fruit” is symbolic of our works, actions, and deeds as Jesus explained in Matthew 7:15-20.

The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Of Eden

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Trees cannot make you wise. It is impossible.

The tree mentioned here is “the tree of knowledge of good and evil” which is essentially symbolic of Satan’s works and deeds. Satan came to know evil when Satan fell by rebelling against God in The World That Then Was.

The “fruit” is symbolic of the works, actions, and deeds of “the tree of knowledge of good and evil”. While “eating” is symbolic for partaking of the “fruit”.

This word “pleasant” can even mean “lusted”.

No doubt, Eve lusted after Satan (serpent) and symbolically ate the fruit from “the tree of knowledge of good and evil”, the tree Adam and Eve were told to stay away from, (Genesis 2:17). This would symbolize a sexual act in the Garden of Eden, a point solidified in the next few verses.

Note: Symbology like this is all over the Bible. Jesus is the living water, bread of life, and tree of life. If we drink His water or eat His bread, we live forever. Yet, there is no literal water or bread. Instead, they represent our acceptance of Him and our works.

Adam And Eve Knew They Were Naked

Genesis 3:7
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Eating fruit cannot open your eyes. It is impossible.

Eating fruit cannot make you understand you are naked. It is impossible.

No literal piece of fruit can make someone aware of themself or their surroundings. Had Adam and Eve eaten a literal piece of fruit, they would have covered their mouth with aprons, not their private parts.

  • Before Adam and Eve ate the symbolic fruit, they knew they were naked and they were not ashamed.
  • After eating the symbolic fruit, they understand they are naked, they are ashamed, and even made aprons to hide their private parts.

Only an immoral sexual act could make Adam and Eve aware and ashamed of their naked private parts, and want to hide them.

In Genesis 3:8-12, God calls out to Adam and Eve in the Garden who try to hide their shame.

Listen to what Eve says,

Satan Seduced Eve

Genesis 3:13
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Serpents cannot beguile a human. It is impossible, but Satan can, and has since the beginning.

“Beguile” means,

To lead astray, that is, (mentally) to delude, or (morally) to seduce: – beguile, deceive, X greatly, X utterly.

Satan, the serpent led Eve astray and morally seduced her into a sexual act.

A literal serpent cannot speak, much less persuade someone to do anything.

Serpents Do Not Eat Dust

Genesis 3:14
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

Serpents do not eat dust. It is impossible.

Serpents cannot understand speech, they cannot eat dust, and they have always moved on their bellies. Therefore, the serpent in the Garden of Eden was not a literal snake at all.

God is simply explaining that Satan is cursed and categorized as the lowest of all of God’s creatures. God is simply degrading Satan in a symbolic manner.

The Seed Of Satan

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Enmity” which is “hatred” cannot exist between a serpent and a woman. It is impossible.

God is still talking to Satan who is the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

This word “seed” means,

Seed; figuratively fruit, plant, sowing time, posterity: – X carnally, child, fruitful, seed (-time), sowing-time.

Obviously, we are not talking about a fruit seed. Serpents do not have fruit seeds.

We are talking about the serpent’s seed, which is Satan’s seed (child), and also Eve’s seed (child). We are talking about literal children which can only be brought into the world through a sexual encounter.

This is the first prophecy in the Bible.

The enmity between the serpent and the woman may additionally be spoken of in Revelation 12.

The enmity between “thy seed and her seed” consisted of the hatred and hostility Cain (thy seed) had for Abel (her seed). Evident as Cain killed Abel who was Adam and Eve’s son, (see: Cain And Abel Were Twins).

Since Abel (her seed) perished, what about the last portion of this verse?

it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

It” is speaking of Eve’s seed.

Obviously, Abel perished.

So God was speaking generally of Eve’s prodigy. After Abel came Seth, and through Seth came our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So then, Jesus Christ is “It”, Eve’s seed who will bruise the head of the serpent. This will occur when Christ returns and ends the reign of the Antichrist. It will be absolute when Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire, (Revelation 20:10).

Notice the next portion of the verse, “thou shalt bruise his heel”.

Thou” is the serpent who is Satan. Satan bruised the heel of “It”, Eve’s seed, Jesus Christ, when He was crucified for our sins on the cross, (Luke 22:3-4).

Eve’s Sin Brought Multiplied Pains During Child Birth

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Eating a literal “fruit” did not cause Eve to have multiplied pain and sorrow in childbirth. It is impossible.

God punished Eve for her sin in the Garden of Eden by increasing her pain in childbirth. God clearly connects childbirth with the sin in the Garden of Eden which leaves no room to conclude anything other than a sexual encounter.

Children are not born by eating fruit, only from sexual acts. Just as aprons were used to identify where the sin took place, these sorrows in childbearing also identify the sin.

Summary

Serpents cannot speak, eat dust, deceive people or hate them, and they do not have fruit seeds. Trees do not have knowledge, nor can they be good or bad. Eating fruit cannot open ones eyes and make them aware they are naked.

All of these facts help us understand, the account in the Garden of Eden is a parable, not a literal story of Adam and Eve eating an apple.

I hope it has become obvious there was, in fact, a sexual encounter in the Garden of Eden that brought about the literal child of Satan. Just as with the Fallen Angels and Giants, these unholy affairs were done in order to prevent the birth of our Messiah, Jesus Christ.
