I Know The Plans I Have For You

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11

This verse was directed to the nation of Israel who God sent into Babylonian captivity due to their continued sin.

However, these words still apply to all of us today. Our Heavenly Father loves us, have we forgotten that He sent His only Son to perish on the cross so that we could live, (John 3:16)?

God’s Lovingkindness Is Everlasting

Have we forgotten?

Psalms 136:2
O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Have we forgotten?

Exodus 20:6
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Mercy” means “lovingkindness” and these verses all indicate God’s lovingkindness is forever and directed at those who love Him. Not just a single race of people.

Further, we know there is no longer Jew nor Greek, as we are all one in Christ, (Galatians 3:28-29).

Seek The Lord

The thing that is so beautiful about the Bible is how it lines up so well, the Old Testament perfectly aligns with the New Testament. That is how we can be so certain it is the True Word of God.

Let us turn back to Jeremiah 29 to explain.

Jeremiah 29:12
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

Notice, God expects us to give Him time.

He expects us to seek Him out, and then He will listen to us.

Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

This is exactly what Christ told us in Matthew 7:7-8, ‘seek, knock and find’. We seek out the Lord, then we knock on His Door through prayer, and then we find Him and obtain the promise.

I Know The Plans I Have For You

This bring us to our Father’s Promise, ‘I know the plans I have for you’.

Our Heavenly Father has thoughts and plans of peace for us, He is “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”, (2 Peter 3:9).

He plans to give us an “expected” end which means, “hope that we long for”, a hope to end our troubles in life, (Jeremiah 29:11).

I am reminded of 1 Corinthians 10:13 which explains, there is no temptation you suffer, that everyone else does not suffer, and that God will see us through those trials in our life.

Always remember that, God is always with you if you seek Him out, and follow His Word.

When we combine these Scriptures together we can clearly see these are promises from God to all of us. We can see how they all flow together so smoothly and calm and soothe our weary minds.

Psalms 40:5
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
