Don’t Fear Or Spread Conspiracy

Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the LORD of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Isaiah 8:12-13 ESV

God instructed Isaiah not to get wrapped up in the latest conspiracy theory circling among the king and people of Judah. The conspiracy stated, the king of Syria and Samaria were going to form an alliance against Judah, (Isaiah 7:1-2).

Instead, God wanted the people to honor Him and fear Him, and let God be their focus and concern. Not some fictitious conspiracy. Oh, I’m quite certain, they had all the evidence and proof that their conspiracy was real and true. Except for one thing, it wasn’t.

This verse is such a great example for us today. These days, our world is filled with conspiracies. I cannot explain why, but Christians are extremely susceptible to conspiracies, more than your average Joe. Perhaps the book of Revelation does it to them, who knows.

I just know, it’s unhealthy.

Here’s something else I know, God does not want you partaking of and spreading conspiracy theories. Certainly not to other Christians. Instead, Christians are supposed to spread His Word to the world, not something that may or may not be true.

I mean think about it…

The sole purpose of a conspiracy is to spread fear and terror. That was also the point in Isaiah 7:1-2. To cause fear. In the modern era, conspiracies are used to make someone who possesses the conspiracy feel like they’re in the know, someone special, and smarter than everyone else.

This places their faith in the conspiracy, and the ones who promote them, all instead of God.

The sole goal is to then spread the conspiracy, so more people know, and of course, “wake up.” The fact is, knowing about and spreading conspiracies never changed anything for the better. Ironically enough, that’s exactly what we’re supposed to do with the Bible, spread it!

Conspiracies also do this…

Ezekiel 22:25
There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey: they have devoured souls; they take treasure and precious things; they have made her widows many in the midst thereof.

There are conspiracy theorists today, just as there were conspiracy theorists back then. Only in those days, it was the priests and prophets who appeared like honest and noble men, however, they sold their people down the river to make a buck…

By inventing the conspiracy.

The same thing happens today, each and every day, and most Christians never even realize it. They’re too busy buying into this conspiracy or that one. They focus more on the conspiracy than they do on God, in so doing, they stop honoring God and remove Him from their focus, replacing Him with the latest conspiracy that comes and goes.

You know, this is one of the craziest things I have observed…

In many cases, Christians don’t necessarily trust non-Christians. Yet, when it comes to conspiracies, the non-Christians are the ones who invent them and the Christians are the ones yucking it up and spreading it to the four winds.

Why, does it enhance your life in some way?

Nope.

Many tend to get so roped into a conspiracy, that it paralyzes them, and the only concern they have is that conspiracy, and the next one already coming down the pipe. Instead, Christians should be focused on God and focused on making real-life changes in our world and their lives.

Spreading conspiracies of fear and doom is most certainly, unGodly as we learned.
