The Fall Of Satan

The fall of Satan is one of the keys to understanding why man exists today in the flesh. In our study “In The Beginning: The World That Then Was,” we explained there was a completely different era of time before this present age we find ourselves in. It was a time where man existed in their spiritual bodies. A time when the sons of God sang for joy. The sons of God being the stars of God who are the Heavenly host (Job 2:1, 38:7, Isaiah 14:13, Daniel 8:10-11). Unfortunately, something detestable occurred in The World That Was, Satan sinned by rebelling against our Father.

In this study we are going to document the fall of Satan from his position of power in The World That Was. We are going to explain the details of what happened and what God’s children did. With that having been said, let us begin.

Satan’s Fall

First, let us document who the stars and sons of God are spoken of in the book of Job. Please turn your Bible with me to,

Job 38:7
7 “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

In this Scripture, the sons of God are the angels as Job 2:1 will help us understand. There is no gender involved here, this includes everyone; those who have passed on before us, those alive today, and those who will come after us. We should note that we all have two bodies, a flesh body, and a spiritual body. When we pass on, we return to our Father and we occupy our true body, our spiritual body which has the same appearance as our flesh body, but it is comprised of a different substance as it does not get sick, old or die (1 Corinthians 15:35-55, 2 Corinthians 5:8).

We know the time element of this verse is historical, the sons of God are not together or shouting for joy. We know the Fallen Angels are bound in chains while Michael keeps a firm grip on Satan, that is not joy (Jude 1:6). We should note, in the Eternity there will be one Morning Star and that is Jesus Christ, documenting this verse is not future.

So why then were the sons of God shouting for joy? In The World That Was we were with God in our spiritual bodies, there was no pain, sorrow or death. It was a wonderful time until the fall of Satan.

The morning stars that sang with the sons of God are in fact Christ and Satan. Let us document that. Out of Christ own mouth, “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star(Revelation 22:16). We can document one of Satan’s many names is Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12 where we will be going in a moment. There Satan is called, “son of the morning” and the very word Lucifer (1966) means, “the morning star.” So let there be no doubt who we are talking about in Job 38:7. Christ and Satan at one time both sang together for joy in The World That Was.

That time of joy and harmony would unfortunately come to an end when iniquity was found in Satan.

Please turn your Bible with me to,

Isaiah 14:12
12 “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”

This prophecy is future to us. The souls and physical bodies of Satan and his angels are bound in Heaven until they are cast out by Michael at the sixth trumpet, even so their evil spirits do roam the earth (Jude 1:6, Revelation 12:7-9). Christ told Satan to get behind Him and that is where Satan is (Matthew 4:1-11).

Isaiah 14:13-14
13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:”

14 “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

This is in fact the fall of Satan. Satan wanted to ascend into Heaven, meaning a higher place than the stars of God who are the children of God. Satan wanted to occupy the very Throne of our Father which was upon the mountain. Satan’s position which we will learn of shortly was very prestigious, he covered the Throne of God, yet it was not enough for Satan. He wanted more, he wanted to occupy God’s Throne, Satan wanted to be God.

Isaiah 14:15
15 “Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

Hell(7585) meaning the “grave”. This was Satan’s death sentence for his abominable desire to take the Throne of God. Revelation 20:10 will document Satan, the Devil will be cast into the Lake of Fire at the end of the Millennial reign of Christ.

Isaiah 14:16
16 “They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;”

Satan will not only shake kingdoms, Satan will shake people’s faith when he claims to be Christ, when Satan performs supernatural acts in the sight of men during the Tribulation (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, Revelation 13:14). Satan turned the children of God against Him in The World That Was even creating his own government and Satan will do it again upon the earth before men (Revelation 12:1-3, 17:7-18).

Please turn your Bible with me to,

Ezekiel 28:12
12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.”

The city of Tyre was a major trading hub in ancient times and how fitting for what we are going to discover about Satan in God’s Word. The name Tyre means “the rock,” we are talking about Satan and we will document that completely. Symbolically, our Rock is Christ, but that will not stop Satan from trying to convince you he is your rock.

Further as Genesis 1:26-27 documents, God created all of His children in His image. So we must understand Satan is not a literal beast with horns and a pitchfork, rather Satan is “perfect in beauty” as Ezekiel documented.

Ezekiel 28:13
13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”

As Ezekiel documents, Satan’s wealth in The World That Was, was enormous. We should understand wealth does not mean just monetary riches. It means much more than that. Satan was perfect from the day he was created ‘until iniquity was found within him‘ as we will learn. As the next verse will document, God set Satan as the anointed cherub that covered our Father’s Throne. Naturally, for Satan to be in such a position he was extremely rich in blessings from our Father. Truly, the wealth of Satan was blessings from God.

We know the book of Ezekiel was written in 593BC (approximately). Yet, we were just told the king of Tyrus was in the Garden of Eden some 3,500 years before this scripture was even written. It should be obvious to the reader we are not talking about a literal man, but a title for Satan who was that serpent in the Garden of Eden.

Ezekiel 28:14
14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”

Satan was what? The anointed cherub that covered the very Throne of God. Our Father placed Satan into that elite position because of Satan’s good deeds as the next verse will document. But, instead of covering the Throne of God, Satan wanted to be God. There is only one God, there are no others (Isaiah 45:5-6).

Let me ask, where did the scripture say Satan was? On the Holy Mountain of God just as Isaiah 14 documented. Satan wanted to be placed above the stars of God (sons of God), Satan wanted to take our Father’s Throne. Satan was not to have a throne, he was to cover God’s Throne.

Ezekiel 28:15
15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”

Satan was perfect at one point in time which explains how he was able to elevate himself so high in God’s Kingdom. However, when Satan achieved all of the rewards and was elevated in God’s Kingdom that is when evil was found within him.

Ezekiel 28:16
16 “By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.”

Pay close attention, Isaiah 14 documented Satan was on the mountain because he covered our Father’s Throne. This is why our Father told Satan, ‘I cast thee out of the mountain of God’. Documenting God removed Satan from his position of power.

Ezekiel 28:17
17 “Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”

Covering the Throne of God was not enough for Satan. Neither was Satan’s beauty, wisdom, power, influence and status in God’s Kingdom which corrupted him. The only thing left was for Satan to take our Father’s Seat, to be God himself. What an abomination!

Essentially, this became Satan’s death wish. By Satan’s inability to be content with the enormous blessings he possessed, they led to his death sentence issued by God. How hurtful it must have been for God to be betrayed by someone so close to His heart.

Satan will never take our Father’s Throne, but Satan will claim to be Christ and sit on a faux throne of his own in Jerusalem reigning over his Beast Government, but woe to us on earth!

Satan will be laid before kings when Michael casts Satan and his angels from Heaven to earth, when Satan becomes our Tribulation (Revelation 12:7-9).

Ezekiel 28:18-19
18 “Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.”

19 “All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.”

Once again, we read about Satan’s death sentence documenting Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 are in fact the same account. Satan was sentenced to death by God for the multitude of his sins. We are talking about the destruction of Satan’s soul, a permanent death. The death sentence of Satan will become a reality at the end of the Millennial reign of Christ, the White Throne Judgment.

Up to this point in our study we have documented everything in His Word. However, the rest of this study will be primarily based on supposition on what we know to be true in God’s Word along with common sense, deductive reasoning, logic, and faith.

Let us continue.

We have documented in the scriptures the sins of Satan, his rebellion against God. But in order to have a better understanding of this subject we need to consider what a “rebellion” truly is.

“An effort by many people to change the government or leader of a country by the use of protest or violence”

You see it was not just Satan who rebelled against our Father and His Government (Kingdom). It was God’s own children. As with any rebellion there are sides to be chosen and there are only two sides in this rebellion. The side of God and the side of Satan.

In a moment we will turn our Bibles to Revelation 12:3, but I would like to talk about Revelation 12:1-10 for a moment. These ten verses cover one of the longest periods of time in God’s Word. From The World That Was to the Tribulation of Satan. Verse three and four are specifically speaking of “The World That Was where man existed in their spiritual bodies.

Please turn your Bible with me to,

Revelation 12:3
3 “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”

This is symbology my friends. The Dragon is Satan as verse nine will document. Notice, this beast which is Satan in his governmental role has seven heads, ten horns and seven crowns on his head. Does this sound familiar? It should. In Revelation 13 we are told about the future Beast Government of Satan that will consist of seven heads, ten horns and ten crowns on his head. Nearly identical to Satan’s Government in The World That Was.

Revelation 12:4
4 “And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”

Whose tail are we talking about? The Dragon’s tail as verse three states and that Dragon is Satan as verse nine states. Who then are the stars of Heaven? If you recall, we opened this study documenting the stars are the children of God (you and I).

This word “drew” is 4951 in your Strong’s Concordance.

G4951
σύρω
surō
soo’-ro
Probably akin to G138; to trail: – drag, draw, hale.

What happens if you trail someone? It means you follow them. Satan (The Dragon) caused one-third of  God’s children (stars) to follow him. Let us look at word 138 where 4951 is derived from.

G138
αἱρέομαι
aihreomai
hahee-reh’-om-ahee
Probably akin to G142; to take for oneself, that is, to prefer. Some of the forms are borrowed from a cognate (ἕλλομαι hellomai), which is otherwise obsolete: – choose. Some of the forms are borrowed from a cognate hellomai, hel-lom-ahee; which is otherwise obsolete.

A full one-third of the stars of Heaven, a third of God’s children in their spiritual bodies with full knowledge of what they were doing willingly chose Satan over God in this rebellion. That is what we are talking about here. This one-third could literally see God and Satan, they completely understood who was the Creator and King of all, but they still preferred and chose Satan. I realize this may be tough for many to swallow, but this is the fall of Satan, I ask that you continue as we will provide indirect documentation of this from God’s Word.

We are going to break back this word “drew” one more time, 138 comes from 142.

G142
αἴρω
airō
ah’ee-ro
A primary verb; to lift; by implication to take up or away; figuratively to raise (the voice), keep in suspense (the mind); specifically to sail away (that is, weigh anchor); by Hebraism (compare [H5375]) to expiate sin: – away with, bear (up), carry, lift up, loose, make to doubt, put away, remove, take (away, up).

Satan led that one-third away from God and they willingly chose to follow Satan, they willingly entered his ship. Again, they did this with full knowledge in their spiritual bodies knowing God and Satan. Nothing was hidden or kept secret in The World That Was, everyone had full knowledge of what they were doing and completely understood how that decision would make God feel. Think about the depth of this for a moment. If this one-third willingly chose Satan in their spiritual body seeing God, what do you think their chances are in the flesh with all of its wicked desires when they cannot see God?

God could have simply erased their souls and we could have skipped this age of flesh as it would be rendered pointless. But that is obviously not the case as we are here today. So that means there is more to this story. If one-third followed Satan, then what of the other two-thirds of God’s children we are not told about? What do we know about them?

Specifically, we are told nothing about such a large group of souls. Rather, the Word only mentions a few, a very small number as Isaiah 1:9 states,

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom.”

The Lord did what?

He left a very small remnant that has stood by Him to bring forward His Word generation after generation to this day.

Christ clearly stated in Matthew 7:14, “narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” He would also tell us, “For many are called, but few are chosen“, (Matthew 22:14). “Called” that is “invited” and “chosen” that is “selected“. What are we talking about here? The Great Wedding that will soon take place when our Lord and Savior returns. Our Father is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance,” though they will not (2 Peter 3:9).

We now know one-third of God’s children willingly chose and followed Satan, that leaves two-thirds that did not willingly follow Satan. Yet, our Father has made it abundantly clear, God has stated over and over again there are only a few that have stood by Him and against Satan. Essentially, we are talking about three separate groups of people here. The one-third, the two-thirds and the few. We know without a doubt the two-thirds are not a part of the few. Had the two-thirds been a part of the few, God would have called the majority of His children the Elect and there would be billions of them. Yet, God has never said that. He said a few have stood by Me.

There are only two choices in this rebellion my friends, there are only two sides, God’s and Satan’s. Naturally, if you do not stand with God then you stand with Satan. There are no other choices, there are no other options, there is no middle ground. This means the majority of the two-thirds followed Satan as well, not willingly, but they followed him nonetheless.

How could Satan have accomplished this? I believe the pressure Satan exerted on them was extremely intense and the two-thirds lacked the strength to stand against Satan, essentially their spiritual lamps ran out of oil. Look at our world today, peer-pressure typically sets the standard for today’s morality whether it be television or society in general. Yet, God never pressures us into anything, He always gives us that option, He has given us free will.

Further, I believe Satan tempting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the wilderness gives us a good idea of what happened in The World That Was (Matthew 4:1-11).

If we look forward to the time of the Tribulation things will be no different. Most of the world will believe Satan (the Antichrist) is Christ returned. Then we will have those who understand Satan is the false Christ. Yet, due to the intense and constant pressure Satan and the world exert on them, they will become wearisome and weakened because they lacked oil in their spiritual lamps. Their faint-heartedness will ultimately lead them to Satan, bowing a knee before him, instead of standing against him.

Now think to yourself for a moment. Is any of this really a surprise? The entire Bible is based on just a few of God’s children loving Him and following His Laws. God has always only had a few that have followed His ways. We have Noah and his family who were the only righteous people in that region of the world. We have the three in the fiery furnace who stood by God and allowed themselves to be bound and cast into that furnace that was heated seven times hotter than necessary. Then we have the few prophets and disciples who followed God and even some of them had difficulties and struggles.

Look back to the time of Abraham and his conversation with God over Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham asked God, if “there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein,” (Genesis 18:24)? God replied in Genesis 18:26, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.” This went back and forth until Abraham said, if “ten shall be found there” will you not destroy it? You know the rest of the story, God spared Lot, his family and then destroyed Sodom. There were not even 10 righteous souls in the entire city. Yet another example of God only having a few on His side. This is nothing new, it has been this way since The World That Was. God has always only had a few on His side, He has made that plain as day through the scriptures if we truly analyze them. Look around you today, how many stand with God? Even the religious institutions make a mockery out of God’s Word.

I stated before we conclude this study we will indirectly document the majority of God’s children followed Satan. By using what we know about God’s Word we can clearly see the majority of the two-thirds are not a part of the few. That is just common sense, two-thirds make a majority, the definition of a majority and a few are exactly the opposite. We have documented in the scriptures throughout history God has always only had a few that will never leave Him. I now ask you to turn your Bibles to,

Revelation 20:1
1 “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.”

The time frame of the scripture is just after the Tribulation of Satan. We have now entered the Millennium, Christ has returned and we are all changed into our true bodies, our spiritual bodies (1 Corinthians 15:35-55).

Revelation 20:2-3
2 “And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,”

3 “And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”

Michael the archangel is who we are talking about in verse one. Michael is the one who lays hold on Satan binding and locking him in the bottomless pit, the same job Michael assumes today by holding Satan and his angels in Heaven. During this entire one-thousand year period Satan has absolutely zero effect on God’s children.

Revelation 20:6
6 “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

Those who have stood by God throughout history and those who will make a stand for Him in the future are a part of the first resurrection. While everyone will be in their spiritual body which is immortal, only those spoken of in verse six will have an immortal soul while the rest will have a mortal soul, meaning “liable to die“. It is those who take part in the first resurrection who will help teach those who never had the opportunity at Salvation, those who never had the opportunity to hear the true Word of God. Faith will be a thing of the past. Why? Because faith is a belief in something that is unseen and at this point in time we are all in our spiritual bodies, we can literally see Jesus Christ and we can see Satan bound in that pit

Revelation 20:7
7 “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,”

At the end of the Millennium, this one-thousand year period of teaching, Satan will be loosened one final time. Let us read what happens and consider in your mind what this study has spoken of concerning the two-thirds of God’s children.

Revelation 20:8
8 “And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”

Satan does what? He gathers together a number of God’s children that is so large it is compared to the sand of the sea. It is uncountable and they do it willingly in their spiritual bodies! Let us continue…

Revelation 20:9
9 “And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”

A multitude of God’s children will willingly choose Satan in their spiritual bodies at the end of the Millennium.  You see my friends, this has all happened before in The World That Was as we have explained. “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun“, (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

Willingly or unwillingly the majority of God’s children in their spiritual bodies followed Satan in The World That Was. Yet, our Father is so merciful, instead of destroying all but the few, He brought about this age of flesh where we could be born innocent in order to make up our mind who we will follow God or Satan. Our Father did this in an attempt to save some of those who followed Satan. To our Father all of this trouble would be worth it to save just one sheep lost in the wilderness (Matthew 18:12-14). It could be further stated that man exists in the flesh to help as many of the two-thirds as possible, to strengthen them, to teach them the in-depth truths of our Father’s Word whereby they have a solid foundation to make their stand on. Yet, it goes deeper than that.

What is our Father’s plan? For His Kingdom to be never ending, for His Kingdom to be a Paradise of Peace that lasts an Eternity. Where time has no meaning, where time never ends and we can enjoy the wonders of our Fathers creation and the exciting promises we cannot even begin to imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9). His plan is perfect and by the steps He has taken it will ensure in the Eternity no one will fall away like Satan did in The World That Was.

Why?

Because at this point in time every one of God’s children has gone through the trial, there is no one left except for those who stood by God’s side. There is no one left to fall away from our Father, the rudiments which means the evil elements are finally done away with.

The future Tribulation will be a repeat of what we have discussed in this study. The Saints who are the few stood with God in The World That Was, they have done so throughout time, and they will do it again. They will be equipped with the whole armour of God, they will ensure their lamps and vessels are full of oil, they will stand for our Father upon our Rock Jesus Christ.

My friends, there is now only one question left…

Which side do you stand on?
