Welcome to our bi-weekly post where we provide Bible verses, answers and advice to the questions and concerns you have. During the course of the last two weeks readers have submitted their questions and today we are going to answer some of them. So please join us and feel free to chime in on the discussion in the comments section below this post.
Before we get into this week’s questions we would like to point out that you are helping to spread the Word of God by your continued submission of questions. Because of your ongoing participation these Q&A posts have been read thousands of times. Without your participation this section of our site would not exist. So if you have a Biblical or non-Biblical question you would like to ask, submit it now for our next edition of “Bible: Question, Answer and Discussion“.
Question: Hi Brandon,
I was recently asked by a family member to explain how the Tribulation will last just under 4 years (3 & 1/2 years for the first half, 5 months for the ‘shortened’ second half) if we are to believe that ‘one day is with the Lord as a thousand years’ ( 2 Peter 3:8). I was embarrassed that I did not know how to answer so I wanted to run it by you. Thank you in advance!

Answer: Dave thank you for the question and do not be embarrassed. We are all learning our Father’s Letter, you are seeking out His Word and I am sure He appreciates that.
You will have to forgive me, but I do not quite understand the question. So let me do some explaining and hopefully we will answer your question anyway.
One day with the Lord is as a thousand years to us as you pointed out. There have been roughly eight of the Lord’s days since the creation of mankind which is equal to eight thousand of our years.
The seventh day is called the Lord’s Day and that occurs after the appearance of Satan and starts at the return of Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:1-11). This is known as the Millennium which is the one-thousand year reign of Christ where the Saints will serve as priests with Him (Revelation 20:6).
So there we have seven days of the Lord which equal seven thousand of our years. After the Millennium will be the eighth day which will mark the start of the Eternity. The time when “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away,” (Revelation 21:4).
The Tribulation was originally going to be seven of our years, not the Lord’s years (we will leave some notes at the bottom from our study titled, “The Saints and Their Role in the Tribulation“). Yet, we know Christ shortened the time in Matthew 24:22. What time did He shorten? The Tribulation period. I do not believe Christ shortened part of the Tribulation. The subject in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 was the end of days and the Tribulation of Satan. Christ said that time was shortened. With that said, I believe the entire seven year (our years) Tribulation will be condensed down to a five month period.
Exurb from: “The Saints and Their Role in the Tribulation”
“Daniel 9:27 documents, “he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.“Satan is “he,” documenting he is present on earth for the entire Tribulation. As a note, 70 weeks are determined in the book of Daniel, we currently await this last week, which is a week of years, being a 7 year Tribulation (The Tribulation was shortened by Christ, Matthew 24:22). Satan causes the sacrifice and oblation to cease as the people stop worshipping Jesus Christ and start worshipping Satan who they perceive as Christ. This is the Great Apostasy, changing ones professed religion from one God to another.
We need to understand Daniel 9:27 was written prior to Jesus Christ. Believers of that time had to perform blood sacrifices. When Christ died on the cross for our sins His blood erased that need, therefore, today we take communion to honor God, to display our belief that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for our sins and was resurrected.
With that said, Satan will cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease as the world accepts him as the messiah, at this point they have been spun into his web of deception. We are told in Revelation 13:5 “there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.“
This is our second witness that Satan is here for the entire Tribulation as it states he is allowed to continue 42 months. You cannot continue to do something unless you were already doing it. This scripture is also our second witness to the fact that Satan takes absolute control of the world at the midst of the week as power is given to him. Make a note, 42 months is equal to 3.5 years, being half of the Tribulation.”
Question: I come from a Catholic background. However, I do not practice that faith as I have a hard time with my mother when she says that the book of Revelations was written for the people of long ago and that it does not pertain to the people now. I tell her she is wrong and needs to go to read the Bible. This gets very heated at times with my family – please advise – what a great website
God Bless – Cynthia

Answer: Thank you for the question and kind words, our Father gets all the credit.
Let me first just say if you and your mother have a difference of opinion on the Bible that is well and good. But do not let it escalate into a heated exchange.
One thing is certain when it evolves to that level, no matter who is correct the other side will not listen as they have shifted into defense mode. Work the truth in there the best you can, I am sure you know what your mothers limits are. When you can show her the scriptures so she can see with her own eyes while you are in her presence.
I think the question above helps clue us in that the book of Revelation is still future to us in most aspects. Please turn your Bible with me to,
1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”
I can guarantee you this event has not happened yet, take a look around and also note that when Christ returns we are all instantly changed back into our true bodies which are our spiritual bodies that never get sick, old or die (1 Corinthians 15:52-55).
2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
The wedding has not yet taken place because Christ has not returned.
3 “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.”
Take a look around you, do you see our Father? We are all in these flesh sacks we call bodies and our Father surely is not dwelling with us yet. Further, what happens before all of this? The appearance of the false messiah and the one-thousand year reign of Jesus Christ which places us into our true bodies, our spiritual bodies.
4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
Our Father said it and you can surely count on it.
We would like to thank our Father for giving us this platform in order to spread His most precious Word. We would also like to thank our readers for submitting their questions and giving us the opportunity to share them with the audience.
