The Message Of Daniel 3: Stand For God No Matter The Cost

There was an article out today about LGBT activists forcing Christians out of adoption services. When we see headlines like that we should ask ourself, how did we get here?

Unfortunately, mainstream Christianity has allowed this to happen to a large degree. The “go along to get along” mentality is not going to get it done, that is my point. There are no gray areas, you all know that by now in case anyone needs a reminder. So then, mainstream Christianity cannot sway, they cannot bend to the will of men and sin… They must stand!

When we sway in our belief, we ‘abandon our principles‘ and that is never a good thing to do. It changes who we are, it means we are not as firm in our belief of God like we think we are…

Family Bible Study

Last night, our family continued our study in the book of Daniel, chapter 3. We found the ol king of Babylon made a great image and everyone in the land was supposed to fall down and worship the image or be cast into a fiery furnace for their disobedience.

Now to my knowledge, no one within Christianity has faced such a threat in recent years.

My sarcasm is coming out, okay?

The point is, we, as Christians have not faced anything even remotely comparable to that.

As we kept reading we discovered, as a family, that three of those Israelites named, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego” ended up making a stand for God, (Daniel 3). They told that Babylonian king to respectfully take a hike and they let him know our God could deliver them from his grasp. Essentially, they told the king, that if God wills it, the king has no power over them.

Boy, that ol king was fired up after hearing that!

He had those three Israelites tossed into the fire bound and all.

But the fire had no power over them, none.

Why?

Our Father was with them, He provided protection for those three who stood by Him.

Now how many of us have that kind of loyalty?

Today, many of us buckle over the slightest thought of losing a material object or position that is here today and gone tomorrow.

Let me remind you of Christ’s Words,

Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. – Matthew 10:28

I should not have to tell you who can destroy your soul. It is our Heavenly Father and He is the only one capable of doing so.

Back to Daniel 3.

Not only did our Heavenly Father protect “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,” but after they came out of the fire the king, the same king who had them thrown into the fire elevated their status and power within his kingdom.

Only our Father is capable of making this come to pass and it was ‘Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s’ reward for staying true to God.

Stand Strong For God

The next time you or your church faces “persecution,” when you face temptation, when you face an adversary, I want you to think about ol “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego“. The three Israelites who stood for God, even if it meant their painful death.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. – James 1:12
