The Bible Was Inspired By The Holy Spirit

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 1:21

One of the biggest reasons for unbelief stems from the fact, men wrote the Bible, even though it was Divinely inspired. Yet, there lies the problem, the Divine cannot be proven by the scientific mind. It is for this reason why the Bible is considered a book of fables by many wise men.

However, non-believers in the sciences (which I enjoy) would be wise to remember, science cannot prove anything. There is no such thing as “scientific fact”, only scientific theory which can never be “proven”. While this notion is known, it is hardly brought to the public’s attention which I find disingenuous.

No Scientific Facts, Only Scientific Theories

This quote by Albert Einstein solidifies the point.

The scientific theorist is not to be envied. For Nature, or more precisely experiment, is an inexorable and not very friendly judge of his work. It never says “Yes” to a theory. In the most favorable cases it says “Maybe,” and in the great majority of cases simply “No.” If an experiment agrees with a theory it means for the latter “Maybe,” and if it does not agree it means “No.” Probably every theory will someday experience its “No”—most theories, soon after conception.

Since science admits it can only provide theories,

Why do the sciences feel so compelled to tell the public our being stemmed from the big bang, and our origins come from evolution?

Aside from the powers of darkness, the reason is very simple, (Ephesians 6:12)

No scientist wants to admit his work is technically in vain. No scientist wants to admit no facts will ever come about from his work. Only more theories that he hopes to be true in order to confirm his understanding of the universe.

Do you see where I am going here?

Though scientists cannot prove their theories, they still believe.

In the end, both Christianity and science rely on “faith”.

The Bible Provides Eyewitness Accounts

While I appreciate the sciences, it is deeply flawed to disregard the Bible as a book of fables. At the very least, the Bible is a verifiable history book. That is what Peter explains,

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

2 Peter 1:16

The Bible is not a book of “cunningly devised fables”. It is a book of “eyewitness” accounts of history. When Peter explained, our Father spoke from Heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”…

Peter is telling us, he was present to document the account, (Matthew 3:17).

Easily dismissible by some, but a historical account no less.

Secular History Confirms The Bible

It may be surprising to discover, secular history confirms many Biblical accounts.

One fascinating subject is the Moabite Stone.

Another example was what I learned a few nights ago. I was reading Genesis 41 where we are told about the seven years of plenty, and seven years of famine in Egypt. This too is documented in history as Dr. E. W. Bullinger explains,

This explains and confirms the hieroglyphic inscription discovered by Wilbour at Sehel (first cataract). It is referred to in another inscription in the tomb of Baba, at El-Kab, translated by Brugsch (History of Egypt, i, 304). In July 1908, Brugsch Bey discovered inscriptions which tell how “for seven successive years the Nile did not overflow, and vegetation withered and failed; that the land was devoid of crops, and that during these years, famine and misery devastated the land of Egypt”. The date is given as 1700 B. C, which cannot be earlier, therefore, than the last year of the famine. The last year of the seven years of plenty was in B.C. 1708, according to Ussher (Gen 41:53), with which the inscription agrees.

Companion Bible Note For Genesis 41:30

Amazing faith building information!

These are not one-offs, there are literally hundreds of examples like these.

Summary

As our world becomes more Godless by the day, it’s important to understand what is and what is not fact. Many beliefs are presented to us on a daily basis as “fact”, when they are nothing more than theories. These cunningly devised theories create doubt around our faith and seek to separate us from God.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
