Remember, There Is Only One Savior

These days, it seems more and more of us have forgone our faith in the Almighty. Instead, we lean and rely on men to protect and save us. We even rely on men to provide direction for our spiritual compass.

There is nothing wrong with seeking advice from someone, but when we gaze at them for their every utterance… It means we have gone astray. We often do this without even realizing we have done it.

Scripture warned us of this long ago,

Psalms 146:3
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

Yet, somehow we always manage to forget such wise words of wisdom from God’s Book.

Instead, we scroll through our phones or turn on the news and listen to the latest drivel. Then, no matter what we learn, we form our opinions based on party lines. We also ensure we only tune into the media and voices who espouse our beliefs, ensuring we will never learn anything new.

If someone is a Democrat or Republican, that either makes them friend or foe.

Do you realize, God does not look at labels like that?

God looks on our hearts.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

God always knows best, yet we typically leave Him in the back seat.

  • Is it any wonder then why our world is such a mess?
  • Is it any wonder why we are such a mess?

Instead of leaning on God, we lean on man, talk about a recipe for disaster.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

We have probably read that verse a million times by now, but it’s “in one ear and out the other” as Mom always said when we were kids.

How many of us truly lean on God, and not on our own understanding?

As a people, as mankind, we always lean on our own understanding. There is nothing wrong with using our minds to think and achieve more. The difference comes in when we reverse God’s natural order, when we leave Him on the sidelines because we think we are so smart.

I speak to you as a reader, and I speak for all of mankind in general.

You read the news, you see the headlines.

Society is now flipped on its head. We are driven away from God and His natural order due to a few people who tell us their version of reality is correct, (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Yet, those are just the voices of the Godless.

We should remember, what is popular with the world is not popular with God, (John 15:18-19, 1 John 4:4-5).

Yet, we tune into their programs, we use their platforms, and for what reason?

To pass the day perhaps…

I suppose my point here is, when we subject ourselves continuously to the world, the world begins to take over. When we entertain what the world thinks is cool, it becomes more acceptable to us.

Yet, it’s not acceptable to God.

It will never become acceptable to God.

He is extremely ridged. He is unchanging, (Psalms 102:25-27).

Do you know why?

All of His ways are righteous, (Psalm 145:17).

So this all brings me to the savior part of the discussion.

Mankind promises to save you from illness, and other hardships. However, that rarely pans out, if ever. In fact, we typically stir up more of our own problems as we seek for continual profit.

Yet, there is One who will save you.

His name is Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father who sent Him into the world to perish for your sins, (1 John 4:9).

  • Now how many men ever died for you?
  • How many men died for your family to live?

Despite what elixir the world wants to pass off to you these days as salvation. Jesus Christ is the only One who can bring you eternal salvation through belief in Him, and by living according to His Word, (see: Is Believing In Jesus Enough To Be Saved?).

This is a hard one for many people, you know why?

They cannot see God, but they can see the guy on TV.

That’s why it’s called “faith.”

You know, people typically reserve that word for a belief in God, but every single day you display your faith. You get in your car and press the brakes having faith it will come to a stop.

You have faith in the multitudes of motorists around you.

Do you have faith in God though?

That’s the one that really counts.

So let this be your little reminder for the day.

When you place your faith in God, you place it in the Creator of the universe.

Isaiah 45:12
I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

When you accept His Son, the Only Savior, you will live with Him forever, (John 3:16, Romans 10:9).

Man cannot promise you that…

Titus 3:3-7
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

In Jesus name, amen.
