On July 24th, the Supreme Court took another step away from Christianity and common sense. They ruled against a Nevada church’s request to be exempt from the state’s 50-person cap on gatherings.
The problem here is Nevada’s 50-person cap only applies to churches, not casinos and restaurants. Those businesses are able to stay open as long as the capacity does not exceed 50%. So it seems obvious enough, churches should be able to do the same.
The First Amendment
Not in today’s twisted world, and in case we have forgotten the First Amendment, let’s read it together.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
In reality, the Supreme Court has no right whatsoever to make any law or uphold any law infringing our First Amendment rights. In fact, the Supreme Court has just discriminated against the church, while promoting businesses in a sinful environment.
If we are so concerned about COVID-19, why are some businesses and organizations exempt from gathering limits, and others are not?
Some Justices Get It
Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Brett Kavanaugh issued a joint statement saying,
“That Nevada would discriminate in favor of the powerful gaming industry and its employees may not come as a surprise, but this Court’s willingness to allow such discrimination is disappointing.”
Christianity Today
Justice Alito said,
“We have a duty to defend the Constitution, and even a public health emergency does not absolve us of that responsibility. The Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion. It says nothing about freedom to play craps or blackjack, to feed tokens into a slot machine or to engage in any other game of chance.”
God Is Being Demoted
The fact of the matter is very simple.
Those who hate God are doing everything in their power to silence Him and His people. All under the banner of enforcing illegal COVID-19 protocols.
