Merry Christmas 2023!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope you have a fantastic day. I hope you get to enjoy some time with your family and friends, while remembering what Christmas is all about…

It’s about Jesus Christ.

As Mom always said, “Jesus is the reason for the season.”

You know, sometimes we lose sight of that, with the modern version of Christmas.

So let’s take a moment to reflect on a few Scriptures, that easily, and quickly tell the Christmas story.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS … He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest and … be called the Son of God.

Luke 1:31-32, 35, 2:4, 6-7

This must have been a trembling moment for Mary…

An Angel named Gabriel descended from Heaven, to visit her, and he had a very special message. It was to inform her of this miracle, a miracle that would forever alter world history.

And so it was, that, while they were there [Bethlehem], the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 1:31, 2:4, 6-7

Can you imagine that?

Since the inn was full, there was no room for the very Son of God.

Instead, an animal feeding trough became the bed of baby Jesus.

So that short and sweet story is what Christmas is all about.

It’s about Jesus Christ, it’s about remembering Him, and remembering what He made possible. It’s about remembering that our Savior was born, even in the lowest of all places.

There’s something else I must mention…

This miracle was not only made known to Mary, but to a few others…

Luke 2:8-14
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

What an amazing sight these shepherds witnessed that night.

They were counted worthy, and they’re forever a part of the Christmas story.

Never forget this story, never forget the gift God gave us…

His only Son, Jesus Christ, who became the Savior of the world.

A Christmas Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I ask that you be with each and every one of us today. Please protect our Christian brothers and sisters in their travels, protect them today, and in the days to come.

I ask that you touch our hearts and our minds with your wisdom. I ask that you enlighten us with Scripture, and help us to continue in your Word, ever learning. I ask that you comfort the restless, heal the brokenhearted, and mend the sick.

Father, lead and guide us down the path of life, so we can one day arrive at your feet.

Lord, thank you for sending your Son, so that through Him we can obtain Eternal life if we believe and accept Him. Today, help each of us spread a little bit of that positive light. Help us to uplift the weary and strengthen those in our faith.

I ask these things in Jesus name, amen.
