What Does The Talmud Say About Jesus?

The Jewish Talmud says many unsavory things about our Lord Jesus Christ. Some of them are in plain sight, and some of them are concealed. I’m going to share those details with you.

Now, before we begin, you need to understand a little about the Talmud.

The Jewish faith of Judaism is not solely based on the Old Testament. Instead, Judaism is a religion derived from the Torah, and rabbinical commentary which make up the Babylonian Talmud, (also: Jerusalem Talmud).

Judaism’s Talmud is not claimed to be a Divinely inspired book. It’s simply commentary, and the “tradition of men” as Jesus said, (Mark 7:8). In fact, the Talmud serves as the instruction manual for Orthodox and Hasidic Jews around the world.

Now that we have some basic knowledge about Judaism, let’s discover what the holy book of the Jews says about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Partial quotes are cited for brevity, full quotes are linked to the Talmud.

Talmud Says Jesus Is Boiling In Excrement

Gittin 57a:3-4
“Onkelos then went and raised Jesus the Nazarene from the grave through necromancy… What is the punishment of that man, a euphemism for Jesus himself, in the next world? Jesus said to him: He is punished with boiling excrement.”

Judaism’s Talmud teaches that a sorcerer, through necromancy, raised Jesus Christ from hell where He was boiling in hot feces.

  • What kind of perversion is this?
  • Why are Jews dealing with sorcerers and necromancy which God is against?
  • Is this what you envision when you think about “Judeo-Christian values?”

If this were not bad enough, the Jewish Talmud also teaches that Jesus performed sorcery and magic, worshiped idols, led people to sin, and that Mary (Miriam) cheated on Joseph.

Let’s have a look.

Talmud Says Jesus Worshipped Idols

Sotah 47a:14
Jesus … went and stood up a brick and worshipped it as an idol … he caused the masses to sin … Jesus the Nazarene performed sorcery, and he incited the masses, and subverted the masses, and caused the Jewish people to sin.”

Also: Sanhedrin 107b:14

Plainly stated, the Talmud teaches that Jesus worshipped idols and even performed sorcery.

This should not come as a surprise to us.

The Jews, being the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes constantly contended with Jesus, sought to kill Him, and succeeded, along with the rest of the Israelites, (Acts 2:14, 22-23, 36, 1 Th 2:14-25, Mark 15:15). They could not accept Him as the Messiah, though they witnessed His many miracles.

These Jews and their Talmud beliefs are so foul, Jesus said of them;

  • They are a “child of hell,” – Matthew 23:15
  • “Ye are of your father the devil,” – John 8:44
  • Their faith is the “synagogue of Satan,” – Revelation 2:9, 3:9

Talmud Says Jesus Practiced Sorcery

Sanhedrin 43a:20
On Passover Eve they hung the corpse of Jesus the Nazarene after they killed him by way of stoning … because he practiced sorcery, incited people to idol worship, and led the Jewish people astray.”

“Jesus the Nazarene.”

That is our Lord and Savior who was crucified on Passover, though He was not stoned. However, if you spend any amount of time reading the Talmud, you’ll find it’s full of contradictions and inconsistencies, so this should not be a surprise, but the general narrative always fits.

Nevertheless, the ancient sages taught that Jesus was a sorcerer and led people to worship false gods, which led the “Jews” astray. Interestingly enough, the accusations of the Jews as recorded in the Talmud, are what we find in the New Testament.

Let’s take a look.

Matthew 9:34
But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

Also: Mat 12:24, Mar 3:22, Luk 11:15

The Jews were referring to Beelzebub, accusing our Lord of sorcery and magic with the prince of evil, just as they proclaimed in the Talmud.

Talmud Says Jesus’ Mother Was Unfaithful

Shabbat 104b:5
“Didn’t the infamous ben Stada take magic spells out of Egypt … His mother’s husband, who acted as his father, was named Stada, but the one who had relations with his mother and fathered him was named Pandeira … his mother Miriam … This one strayed from her husband.”

This is in fact a reference to Jesus Christ, whom the Jews say was born from an adulterous affair. However, in this Talmudic verse, the accusation is veiled, but I’ll remove the veil so you can understand.

Now, who is “ben Stada?”

The Jewish Library tells us, Ben Stada is,

“…identified in later tradition with Ben Pandira (Jesus)”

They further explain,

“The name “Ben Pandira” was understood in the Babylonian Talmud as a euphemism for Jesus. It is fairly clear, therefore, that this entire talmudic passage is an anti-Christian polemic, ridiculing the doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus.”

In fact, the story from Shabbat 104b:5 and Sanhedrin 43a:20, are combined together in Sanhedrin 67a:14-15, using the name “ben Stada,” to which the Jewish Library says, these accounts are,

“…a reference to the crucifixion.”

So the Talmud boldly and subtly teaches lies about Jesus Christ. All in an attempt to slander His name and discredit our faith.

Other Talmud Quotes About Jesus

Unfortunately, the Talmud teaches many other perverse things about Jesus.

However, they don’t always use the name, “Jesus” as we just learned. Instead, the Talmud uses various names to conceal the fact that they are referring to our Lord.

Let me provide some more examples of the Talmud on Jesus.

That Man Is Jesus

As you learned in Gittin 57a:3-4, “that manis a euphemism commonly used in the Talmud to refer to Jesus Christ. As the Jewish Library just pointed out, “Ben Stada” and “Ben Pandira” are also euphemisms for Jesus Christ.

However, there are even more euphemisms for Jesus in the Talmud…

Yeshu Is Jesus

The name of Jesus in Hebrew is “Yeshua,” but the Talmud commonly refers to Him as “Yeshu.”

Why?

Jesus “…was called by the name Yeshu, aplayon His correct name that is actually an acronym standing for Yimmach Shemo Ve-zikro—May his name and memory be blotted out.”

Jews for Jesus

So when “Yeshu” is cited in the Talmud, it’s a reference to Jesus, and “May his name and memory be blotted out” say the Jews.

We have one more to cover…

Balaam Is Jesus

The Talmud also commonly uses the name “Balaam” to refer to Jesus Christ.

Don’t take my word for it.

Sanhedrin 106a:42 has a footnote that says,

“… Balaam is frequently used in the Talmud as a type for Jesus.”

In that verse, the Talmud explains, Mary “played the harlot with carpenters,” and it further states, Jesus was “thirty-three” when He was killed, (Sanhedrin 106b:2). The Talmud even tells us, “the court gave him every opportunity to clear himself” before His sentence, (Sanhedrin 43a:21).

Just as Scripture declares,

“Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.”

Mark 15:5

My friends, can there be any doubt about who the Talmud is referring to?

This…

  • “Jesus the Nazarene”
  • “that man”
  • “Yeshu”
  • “Ben Stada”
  • “Ben Pandira
  • and “Balaam…”

Refer to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Summary

The fact of the matter is, the Talmud is a vile book that slanders Jesus Christ. It’s a book filled with perversion and filth, a book that declares Jews can lie, cheat, steal, and murder Gentiles. There is no other vile book like this in the entire world.

Yet,

  • Christians are led to believe, the Jews are God’s chosen people.
  • Christians are led to believe, “Judeo-Christian values” bind Christians and Jews together.

My Christian brothers and sisters, it is high time we come out of confusion, open our eyes, and learn the truth that has been hidden for so long.
