How Can We Store Up Treasure In Heaven?

Name: Antonio
Question: How does one build his treasure in Heaven? Thank you and God bless you.

Answer: Thanks for the question Antonio.

We are saved by faith, but we build treasure in Heaven through our good works. That’s how we are judged, according to our works. So that’s the short and simple explanation, now let’s prove it with Scripture.

Lay Up Treasure In Heaven

Let us start from the top so everyone can understand.

Please turn your Bible with me to,

Matthew 6:19-20
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Those are the words of Jesus Christ.

He explained, we should not seek to build great treasures on earth.

Why?

Those treasures are very temporary.

You know, when we think about the grand scale of time, our time on earth is very short. All the earthly wealth we obtain cannot be taken with us to Heaven. We can’t even take the shift off our back. We should even remind ourselves about the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man.

So instead of focusing on earthly treasures, we should focus on Heavenly treasures.

Do you know why?

It’s wisely spent time and our Heavenly wealth cannot be taken from us, (Luke 12:33).

Moreover…

Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

This verse really brings it home for us…

What is important to you: gold, silver, dollars, or your Heavenly Father?

Hey, there is nothing wrong with making a living, just give God time. The time we invest in Him and His Word lasts forever, His Word is always valuable. However, our money on earth will not always have value, many will throw it into the streets during the last moments of the Tribulation, (Ezekiel 7:19).

We Build Treasure In Heaven Through Our Works

So how do we build treasure in Heaven?

We build treasure in Heaven through our good works. Faith certainly brings salvation, but it does not bring rewards. James 2:14-26 teaches us the value of works. Please make a study of that after you conclude this Bible Q&A.

Now, please turn your Bible with me to,

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

We must all appear before the Judgement seat of Jesus Christ, He has been given power and authority over all, (Daniel 7:13-14, Matthew 28:18).

Why must we stand before His Throne?

To receive judgment for the things we have done on the earth, whether good or bad. We are judged from our works, not our faith.

Therefore, we are rewarded by those same works. For some, Judgment Day is going to be a fantastic day. It will be reward day for those who have stood by our Heavenly Father.

For those who failed to stand for God, and those who left His side, it will be reward day alright, but they will not like what they are going to receive, (Revelation 20:12-15).

Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The great Book of Revelation…

This really drills it down for us, the “small” and “great.” That means from the greatest to the least of us. We are all going to stand before the Throne to receive judgement.

That means everyone.

We should understand “the dead” here means the “spiritually dead” in Christ. That would be those who did not take part in the First Resurrection, which takes place at Christ’s Return, after the Tribulation of Satan, (Revelation 20:5-6).

In those days, the Book of Life will be opened and everything you have ever done will be recorded next to your name. Hey, if they are good deeds, good works, then you have nothing to worry about. Remember, when you repent from your sins, your transgressions are blotted out from the Book, (Acts 3:19).

The take away here is, we are judged by our works, we are rewarded by our works, we receivetreasureby our works, (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

Now, that does not mean we have to run some great ministry, it does not mean we never sin.

It means we strive to do what is right by God, each and every day…

It means we are a doer of His Word, not just a reader, (James 1:23-25). That means applying His Word to our life each and every day. It means helping our family and neighbors, and telling whoever will listen, when appropriate, the Good News that Jesus is our Savior.

The Saints Obtain the Kingdom

I want to go a little deeper on this subject…

We know during the End Times, the 144,000 from the Twelve Tribes of Israel are to be Sealed with our Father’s Word, (Revelation 7:3-8). They are Sealed with His Word so they can stand for God against Satan and his wicked forces during the Tribulation. It is going to be a very difficult time for them.

Daniel 7:18
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

What happens here?

The Saints of the Most High, the 144,000 from Revelation 7 are going to receive Satan’s kingdom, which simply means the dominion of earth. The Saints receive it from God, they receive it for their works, for the stand they made against Satan.

This is so important to understand, it is our works that bring us payday.

Daniel 7:27
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

This message is so important that it is repeated four times in the seventh chapter of Daniel.

The Saints, those who stand by God (including those who have already passed on), those who put in work for our Heavenly Father are going to reap great rewards. This would include all of the peoples of the earth who honor and cherish our Heavenly Father, (Revelation 7:9).

Summary

It’s no secret, we are saved by faith, but we are rewarded by our works, (Ephesians 2:8-9, Revelation 22:12). Our treasure in Heaven will consist of God Himself, and everything that He possess.

How can gold, silver, or dollars, even compare?
