Bible Verses About Forgiveness

Forgiveness can be very difficult for us to deal with. Whether or not we need to be forgiven, or provide forgiveness to others. However, by forgiving others it removes a burden and weight from our shoulders and provides relief to those we forgive. It may be tough to forgive someone, but just as God has forgiven us when we repent and ask, so should we.

GOD FORGIVES US

God Forgives Our Unrighteousness

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Our Heavenly Father can and will forgive your sins. You have to take action though, you have to reach out to God in prayer and confess your sins to Him. You have to tell Him you are sorry, ask Him to forgive you, and ask Him to help you stay away from the temptations that brought about your sin.

We have all sinned and come short of God’s Glory. Our Father knows that, He understands we are merely made of dust. Yet, through Jesus Christ, we have been given redemption. Claim it.

God Forgives Our Sins And Will Not Remember Them

Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Many people will not forgive you in life when you make a mistake, and those that do will always remember your fault, some may even bring it up in the future.

Our Heavenly Father does not work the same way. When we ask Him, He will forgive us from our sins, and He will not bring up your sin again.

God Makes Our Scarlet Colored Sins White As Wool

Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

God wants us to reason with Him, He wants us to discuss our sins and faults with Him. He wants us to reach out to Him, and come to Him with our troubles and ask for forgiveness.

He loves each one of us very much, so much, He sent His only Son to be crucified so we could be forgiven of the very sins we are discussing.

Though our sins may be red as scarlet, our Father will cleanse them white as wool.

FORGIVE OTHERS

Forgive Others And God Will Forgive You

Matthew 6:14-15
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

In order for God to forgive us, not only do we ask God for forgiveness, but we must forgive others when they repent. That is apart of being a good Christian.

If we expect God to forgive us from our sins, then it is only reasonable for us to forgive others. This documents to God we have a true and forgiving heart.

Be Kind To One Another, Forgiving One Another

Ephesians 4:31-32
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Sometimes it can be so easy to say hurtful things, but it can be so difficult to fess up to our mistakes. We are all God’s Children, we are all apart of His Family and we should treat each other that way.

We may step out of line at times, but we must remember to ask not only God for forgiveness, but those who we hurt.

Forgive Your Brother Seventy Times Seven

Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

We are to forgive our family or Christian family as often as they make mistakes if we expect God to forgive us. However, we also must not be taken advantage of.

If someone continually commits the same wrong deed against you and repents, they do not have a true heart. You do not need to continue to place yourself in harm’s way. It is perfectly acceptable to forgive them, but part company to protect you and your family.

FORGIVE YOURSELF

Those Who Acknowledge Their Sin To God Are Forgiven

Psalms 32:5
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

We cannot hide our sins from God if we expect to be forgiven. We have to come to Him and tell Him our faults which He already knows. He simply wants us to open up to Him so we can document our love and respect for Him.

The hardest thing for some people is to forgive themselves when they commit a sin. You must simply understand, God has forgiven you, now forgive yourself.

Believe In Christ, Repent, And Be Forgiven

Acts 13:38-39
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins.

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

All who believe in Christ and ask God for forgiveness, repenting of their sins and forgiving others have themselves been forgiven.

Understand that. Believe that. Our Father Loves you.
