80% Of U.S. Citizens Consume Weedkiller Ingredient Linked To Cancer

Disturbing, isn’t it?

As it turns out, more than 80% of children and adults in the U.S. have consumed a weedkiller ingredient that is linked to cancer. Evident, as the chemical ingredient was found in their urine according to a report published by the CDC.

So how is this chemical being introduced into our environment?

More than 200 million pounds of glyphosate are used annually by US farmers on their fields. The weedkiller is sprayed directly over genetically engineered crops such as corn and soybeans, and also over non-genetically engineered crops such as wheat and oats as a desiccant to dry crops out prior to harvest. Many farmers also use it on fields before the growing season, including spinach growers and almond producers. It is considered the most widely used herbicide in history.”

Glyphosate, the chemical in question is introduced to us through our food supply.

Don’t forget, these chemicals then become runoff, and are introduced into the drinking water. Not to mention, do the plants actually absorb the chemical themselves? I’ve seen no data on that either way.

Nevertheless, we know these chemicals are sprayed on our food supply which is then later consumed by you and I. Personally, I always insist my family wash our fruits and veggies. Lately, we have stepped this up more and more.

Check out this next bit.

Residues of glyphosate have been documented in an array of popular foods made with crops sprayed with glyphosate, including baby food. The primary route of exposure for children is through the diet.”

Now glyphosate is the chemical in the popular brand, “Roundup” made by your friends at Monsanto (parent company Bayer). Of course, these guys say that glyphosate in Roundup products are “safe,” and that these chemical “residues” in our food and human urine is not a health risk.

Gee, that makes me feel better!

So what do our friends at the World Health Organization say?

“They [Monsanto] are at odds with many researchers and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a unit of the World Health Organization, which classified glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen in 2015.”

The Guardian

Interesting.

How about our good friends at the Federal government?

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken the opposite stance, classifying glyphosate as not likely to be carcinogenic. But last month a federal appeals court issued an opinion vacating the agency’s safety determination and ordering the agency to give “further consideration” to evidence of glyphosate risks.”

Someone’s full of it.

Either it is or it isn’t.

You know what the problem is folks?

Money and power.

Monsanto is the world’s largest producer of said crop chemical which rakes in lots of business deals. Not to mention tax dollars. So, those in power have to be careful not to disturb this money making machine.

So goes our world.

In one breath, these same people will tell us how we must protect the earth.

In the next, they’re pillaging it, disregarding the health of life on it, so they can swindle another buck.
