Keep The Ways Of God

And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.

1 Kings 2:3

David spoke these words to Solomon, his son before he passed away saying, “shew thyself a man” by doing these things. Very admirable.

Though men fell short in those days, it was considered an honor and manly to follow God.

These days are very different.

Today, the world does not consider it honorable or manly to follow the ways of God. Today, they consider God to be a fable, and many others who believe have distorted the Bible to make it of no use, (Mark 7:13).

How about you?

Have you allowed the world to subtly change your perception of God and the Bible? A little twist here, and a little twist there until it’s of no effect?

It can happen without you even realizing it, if you are not careful…

The Ways Of Today

These days, society places all of its emphasis and praise on, well, today. It is all about what you can get today. How you can make yourself feel better today. Hey, a little booze here, some drugs there, a little more indulgence here and there. You pick your poison. Whatever makes you feel good, do it.

That is happiness and what is acceptable in today’s world, but those who take part in these things are really not happy. That is why they partake, that is why they always have to indulge in things they should not be indulging in. This is how quickly we can veer from God…

How many of you have already forgotten today’s verse?

Let me remind you.

A Promise From God

We read about a conditional promise from God. The promise from God is very simple. However, we have an if, the big if…

If we hold onto God with everything we have. If we walk in His ways by keeping his statutes, commandments, judgments, and testimonies. Then we will prosper in life, no matter what it is we set out to do.

You see, the world is always out to be happy, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, they go about it the wrong way by leaving God out of the picture. So the only happiness they really have is temporary. There is no lasting effects to be had. It is always about today, what can I get today.

On the other hand, the promises of God pay rewards today, tomorrow, and in the world to come.

How can anything else even compare?

As you walk into the world today, remember this promise from God. Remember how sure and everlasting it is. Remember, when we follow God’s Word, He is with us every step of the way.
