Was Sodom This Bad?

When I look at the moral degradation of society, I cannot help but think of Sodom and Gomorrah. I wonder within myself, have we eclipsed the wickedness of those cities?

You remember the story…

God decided he was going to destroy Sodom and the surrounding cities due to their wickedness. Abraham reasoned with God, and He spared Lot and his family. So our merciful God sent two Angels to Sodom to tell Lot and his family so they would leave.

During the night, the wicked men of Sodom came to Lot’s door. They actually wanted to have sex with the Angels who were staying with Lot. The wicked men said, “bring them out unto us, that we may know them,” (Genesis 19:5).

“Know them” is a euphemism for having sex with someone.

It’s extremely disturbing!

Even worse, it wasn’t just grown men, but “both old and young,” (Genesis 19:4).

Do you realize the word “young” means,

A boy (as active), from the age of infancy to adolescence; by implication a servant; also (by interchange of sex), a girl (of similar latitude in age): – babe, boy, child, damsel [from the margin], lad, servant, young (man).

The disgusting fact is, the heathen of Sodom not only corrupted themselves, but their children. Their children were now taking part in homosexual acts, even rape, as was the intension with the Angels here.

  • You wonder how this can happen to a society?
  • You wonder how it can happen to a people?

It happens when good men do nothing.

It happens when we allow wickedness to rise among us. How I’ve seen that happen so many times over the years, and society just gives it a pass.

“Ohh, it’s not that bad they say.”

Until it is, and then it’s too late.

I think we’ve arrived at that point now.

Just the other day, I discovered that Target, you know, the clothing chain has a special “Pride” section on their website. It’s dedicated to homosexuals and transgenders. In fact, it’s an entire line of clothing for homosexuals, featuring pro-LGBT phrases.

Why, they even have an outfit for the babies.

This is how society changes.

Little by little, day by day.

It begins once society allows wickedness to see the light of day. Then slowly, over time, that wickedness begins to pollute the rest of society. That’s where we are right now. We have been subverted by spiritual pollution.

Long ago, Christians were supposed to have stopped shopping at Target when they allowed “gender neutral bathrooms.” Target was one of the first to allow men into women’s bathrooms. But, Christian’s didn’t say anything. They still had to shop at Target.

So here we are.

You cannot lose those little battles.

When you do, then eventually you have this…

The wicked begin to indoctrinate society, even your children.

Yes, I said your children, and your grandkids.

It doesn’t matter how much you shelter your kids. They’re going to go out into that world one day and live there. Thanks to our failures as a nation, this perversion known as homosexuality is mainstream. It’s the world and that’s what the kids will see.

In fact, that’s what so many kids are coming to accept.

They see it everyday, it’s all they’ve even known.

It’s “normal” to them, just not you.

So if you haven’t shown your kids this reality.

If you haven’t told them this is evil, all forms of it, they will either accept it, or think nothing of it when they see it. Then we’ll have yet another generation that is even more numb to this wicked behavior, and we will have eclipsed Sodom that much more.

That’s exactly what happened to the Israelites, (Judges 2:10).

Now some of you might think that’s exaggerated, but my friends, look where we are today.

We didn’t get here overnight, then again, we didn’t get here by standing for God either.

Just the other day, I heard a popular conservative news anchor tell their audience and guests how there’s nothing wrong with going to a drag show. As adults that is, with some drinks. They insisted, the line only gets crossed when we bring kids into that picture.

Mind you, this individual is a “Christian.”

Now God’s Word says homosexuality is an abomination to Him, and those partaking will not inherit eternal life.

So why on earth is a Christian going to a drag show and condoning it?

We’ve lost our way, and this individuals influence will carry much further than mine.

It’s these slip-ups that brought us to where we are today.

We have forgotten Scripture, because we don’t read it. We only cherry pick the verses and subjects that we like, and we completely lose the concept of the Book as a whole.

Proverbs 4:14
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

That’s God’s Word my friends.

That’s what His Word says.

  • Do not enter the path of the wicked.
  • Do not go to drag shows.

Let me show you what else the Bible says.

Proverbs 17:15
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

You never ever justify the wicked.

You don’t go to drag shows.

You don’t condone drag shows and immoral behavior.

I guarantee you, God is not going to a drag show with a couple of cocktails.

It’s not happening, so why on earth are Christians whispering these thoughts into your ears?

They’ve gone the way of Cain my friends. Societies influencers are not influential for Christ.

So who are they influential for?

Proverbs 2:13-15
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

You cannot support evil causes in anyway, shape, or form.

Otherwise, you are helping it along.

You are helping evil grow.

Have we forgotten…

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

As I thought about these things last night, my daughters Bible was sitting there. I opened it, and the first page had an American flag with a verse under it.

Proverbs 14:34
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

I knew right then, I was going to write about this subject today.

Righteousness lifts up a nation, but sin destroys it.

We cannot correct, we cannot build up, and we certainly cannot stand for God by supporting sin and those who promote it.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.
