While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
Such a powerful verse, and a magnificent reminder for us today.
The things we can see and observe in this world are very temporary. We’re talking about: people, riches, and other things on earth. However, the things we cannot see: God, grace, and Heaven are eternal.
All of those things are going to last forever.
Yet, we cannot see, touch, or feel them. That makes it very difficult for many people to place their faith in God. That’s what being a Christian is all about, placing our faith in an entity we cannot see or touch.
Why do we do that?
- We know deep within us there is more to life.
- We know this world did not create itself.
- We know mankind is no cosmic accident.
So we place our faith in the unseen God that is seen through his creation.
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
While we cannot see God and Heaven, we can see His creation. We can see the miracle of man, and the heavenly bodies around us. This helps to build our faith, and though God is unseen, He did not leave us in darkness. We know God exists, and we know He is our Designer.

So we live according to His Book…
And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
1 John 2:25
For our faith, belief, and trust in Him, God will grant us eternal life. God will place us in power within His Kingdom one day. Whether He returns or we return to Him, we are assured of this promise. It will be a life without age, pain, or trouble, (Revelation 21:4).
The world we see, it cannot offer us that.
1 John 2:16-17
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Those who follow God and adhere to His Word will live forever.
Through this magnificent book we call the Bible, pages that were penned thousands of years ago, we can see it still rings true to this day. It’s a book we can see, written from the mind of the unseen God.
Following God is not easy, Jesus told us it would be a difficult trek, yet we can make it with Him by our side. So we continue to struggle in this seen world, for the hope and promise of an unseen paradise.
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
