Everything’s Expensive! What Do You Think?

It’s Friday and inflation is still running hot, hot, hot!

Joy, huh?

I tell you what, inflation is crushing the middle class.

It’s gotten so bad, people can’t afford real houses anymore. It makes me wonder how my kids will be able to afford a place one day. It’s not like the old days, you know, way back in 2019. Prices were high then, but nothing like today. You can thank the government for printing all those trillions.

Now, I’m sure some of you are thinking…

What do you mean people can’t afford “real houses” anymore?

I was hoping you would ask that question.

So get this…

I found this article called “The Great Compression.”

It’s all about these tiny houses.

I’m not talking about living in a trailer, I’m talking about “houses.” Oh yes, and I do use that term very loosely. So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of them…

No, those aren’t tough sheds or chicken coups my friends, those are “houses.”

See, I told you I was using the term loosely!

Now lucky you, I said lucky you can own one of these mama jamas for the low low price of $200,000.

For that low low price, you get a whopping 400 square feet.

That’s right!

Now, in case there’s a slight chance that you’re like me…

You’re probably not impressed.

I know, folk like us are hard to please!

Anywho, I want to share a quote with you from one of the fine chaps who purchased one of these bargain basement finds. He was saying how prices are so high and that…

“They should help out more people that are young like us to buy houses.”

Ahh yes, the ever-elusive “they!”

“They” can be anybody, but in this case, “they” are the government.

Yep, folk like Mr. Rodriguez want the government to help him buy a house. Because you know, everyone has the right to own a chicken coup, I mean a house. It’s like air and water dontchaknow.

Now, let’s get halfway serious here for just a minute…

The government is you and me.

We fund the government with something called tax dollars. I think someone needs to give ol Rodriguez a lesson in civics.

Here’s another kicker…

People like this chap are actually the reason house prices continue to go up.

How’s that?…

If people just stopped buying houses… Well then, something called supply and demand would kick in, and prices would fall. But nope. People just keep paying these crazy prices for homes built with sticks and fake bricks.

It’s insanity!

So the more you buy, even chicken coup homes, the more you help inflate the prices.

Ironically enough, my family and I have been waiting for more than two years now to pick up a home. The prices have come down nationally by about 8.5% from the peak back in the summer of 2022.

That’s not enough.

So we have some thinking and pondering to do.

So with that, I want to hear from you

How are you folks getting by in this world of high and extensive inflation?

  1. Are you able to afford housing?
  2. Are you in the home you want to be in?
  3. Can your children afford a place of their own, if they’re of age?
  4. Do you find yourself cutting back on the essentials?

Ahh, one more thought to toss in the hat…

Another article explains, that it now costs $310,000 to raise a kid to 17!

It’s mind-numbing.

All right, enough from me, now your turn!
