Long ago, God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars of heaven. This came to pass during the time of Moses.
“This Day” As The Stars Of Heaven
Deuteronomy 1:10
The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.Deuteronomy 10:22
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.Deuteronomy 28:62
And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God.
- “Who can count the dust of Jacob,” and how many people represent “the stars of heaven for multitude,” (Numbers 23:10)?
- Later, we’re told the male Israelite population exceeded 600,000. Only men over 20 years old we’re counted, (Numbers 26:2, 51).
- This number meant they were “as the stars of heaven for multitude” and they “covered the face of the earth,” not literally, (Numbers 22:5).
