1 Peter 2:15-16
“For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.”
Read verse 13-14 to gain context, that is your homework.
Today, I want to point out how the Bible is written on many different levels. While the context is related to government, we know this is also about other people as well and it should be applied to our life with regard to that.
The verse of the day is talking about “well doing,” with respect to following man’s law, but also and more importantly God’s Law. We can and should live within the law of our government, it is how we are able to hold onto and obtain the rights it grants us. However, if that law ever violates God’s Law then there comes a problem we must consider and address.
Perplexed by that?
Think about this, if we live through the Tribulation of Satan he will have a government on earth and none of us are going to follow Satan’s law are we? Of course not, that is why you will not be able to “buy or sell,” (Revelation 13:16).
The point here is to ‘do well‘ by God, follow His Word and what He has to say in the scriptures and you will gain wisdom and understanding. When we do that it helps “put to silence the ignorance of foolish men“.
When we are filled with our Father’s Word we can more easily see through the lies of men. This is how we can ‘ignore foolish men‘. Christians have no time for that, instead we need to be focused on our Father and our family and ensure we are walking in line with His Law, which trumps all.
